This is a month of blue! It’s a fun challenge created by Becky of “The Life of B”, and each day we show something blue. The only rule beside blue, is that the photo MUST be SQUARE!

As an added bonus, I’ve found songs with blue in the title or lyrics, or at least something to do with the photo. 🙂

Thanks, Becky!

Combining two challenges today: July Squares and Pull Up a Seat.

What I have are blue chairs, or rather three blue chairs and a little blue love seat.

I was trying to be funny with a take-off of the movie, “Three Men & a Little Lady”. haha 😉

Anyway, all these old blue chairs I found at yard sales and an antique shop recently.

The photos show a small child’s sky blue lawn chair that has a slatted back, and arm rests, too.

Then there is the antique plush velour fabric high backed chair (studded back).

Next is a cotton fabric glider/rocker with wooden arms.

Last is the couch or love seat which has overstuffed back pillows and arms, of a blue fabric with small white flowers.

“Old Blue Chair”, by Kenny Chesney, was released on his 2005 album, “Be As You Are (Songs From An Old Blue Chair)”. It was written by Kenny Chesney, and produced by Buddy Cannon.

Here are a couple of doors I saw while out and about recently.

First, a many paned double door on the front of a house. The frame is black, and there are white full length curtains. At least I think they are curtains. The side of the house is red brick, and there is a brown/gray half barrel planter by the steps.

This is a door to the thrift store we went to. It is made of a red metal frame, with mesh wiring. It has hinges, so it will swing shut across the doorway opening.

We’re supposed to write about the word ‘justice’, if we want.

I’m going with something a little different, but with the same sounding word, ‘Justiss’.

Here’s the story, which may or may not have a bit of coincident or even a touch of synchronicity about it.

Quite a few years ago, here in town, my brother-in-law had a job as a Certified Nurses Aid (CNA). He’s had this type of job for years, in many different locations.

One of the duties he had on this one was to care for an elderly couple. Their last name was Justiss.

Later on, my BIL moved on to other jobs and other towns.

Quite a few years had passed, and evidently so had Mr. and Mrs. Justiss.

Now, here’s what’s odd or weird, or whatever you want to call it.

I love going to yard sales. So one day we go to one, and I buy some old scrapbooks. There were 12 of them, all one dollar each, and were huge, heavy books. Most were filled with Christmas cards someone had collected from friends and family, and also lots of seasonal newsletters, and one book had photos. These scrapbooks went as far back as the early 1940s!

It turns out that these books had belonged to the very same Mrs. Justiss, that my BIL had taken care of years before. The lady had written all kinds of things in her scrapbooks, along with her own address. It was the same one, same name…everything. I asked the yard sale lady where she’d gotten the books, and she told me from an estate sale.

I still have them all, and think it was probably my most favorite find at a yard sale.

What do you think?

LOCKED OUT

LOCKED OUT

Have you ever been locked out? It’s been awhile since I’ve been locked out of some place. It is not fun to try to open a door, and …uh-oh…it’s locked, and you don’t have the key!

Maybe you left it inside the house or the car, when you shut the door. It happens…being in a hurry, or just forgetful, or any number of reasons.

First, you keep jiggling the door handle, hoping you can somehow manage to loosen it, and it will magically come open. This is not going to happen, and really, you know it, but you keep trying.

You look around for help from someone, neighbor, stranger, anybody…and no one comes. You seem to feel there are eyes peeking at you from behind curtains, and that everyone in the universe is watching and laughing at your dilemma.

I’ve been locked out of my cars and house many times. The last resort, of course is to call the professional locksmiths to come open the door…and yes, they charge a fee for this service. By now, however, you don’t care how much it costs…just get it open – please!

Once me and my daughter (who was expecting a baby) had gone to yard sales. It was a very hot day. We bought a few things, then back at the truck, we found that the keys had been left inside…and the doors were locked. We could’t reach any family members to come rescue us. The people who were having the sale, noticed we were having a problem, so they came and tried the door, too. Finally, we did call for the mobile locksmith to come. While we waited, the nice yard sale people brought us lawn chairs to sit on, and cold soft drinks.

We hated spending our yard sale cash on opening the door, but it was all that was left to do. I can’t remember if we continued to shop, or just went home that day. Did we learn to check for the keys, before shutting a door? Yes, for awhile…then later on, uh-oh…locked out again.

Hello! I’m a giraffe made of plaster. I don’t think I have a name, other than giraffe. What would be a good name for me? I used to be painted a dull brown and yellow, with parts flaking off. Then one day, I found myself being tossed away! I was scheduled to be sold at a yard sale. I guess they didn’t love me anymore? Anyway, the nice lady adopted me, taking me to her house. Actually, I didn’t get sold, because it was the nice lady’s sister who was having the yard sale. She just gave me to the nice lady. That was the best day of my life.

The nice lady took me home, dusted me off, and gave me a new coating of paint. I like the cool red and white paint she chose for me. I was tired of being a boring, not quite a real giraffe’s color. I think it suits me. I also got blue eyes! 🙂 Sometimes at Christmas time, I get a festive red bow tied around my neck! Fancy, huh?

Most days, you might call me the ‘guard giraffe’, as I camp out by the front door, keeping watch on things. I take my job seriously. I’m always up for a bit of fun, though. Like today…the photo shoot that had me traveling to the bedroom by the window, for the best lighting, which emphasized my red markings. I hope I live here with the nice lady for a long, long time.
