Here’s some of my key chain collection. I know I have more somewhere, just didn’t want to dig them out.

There are so many interesting ones you can get, and pretty much about any subject or topic.

There are those you can purchase at concerts, and museums. You can find them for sale at airport gift shops in all cities (along with magnets), and tourist attraction sites. There are give-away key chains, too, that companies hand out. There are useful ones, such as bottle openers, and hooks to hang on a lady’s purse.

Whatever you’re interested in you can probably find a key chain for it.

  • shiny blue key that is also a bottle opener
  • a plastic orange advertising one shaped like the number one
  • a red and yellow electric guitar with flames (the ring is broken off on this one)
  • a Ninja? with a red mask on, and wearing white outfit

***

  • Concert key chain from Miranda Lambert (her picture)
  • Concert key chain from the Dixie Chicks (black with gold letters)

***

  • a silver coffin keychain
  • a silver dog whistle

***

  • Souvenir key chain from Roswell NM (red & white – words say ‘do not enter – use of deadly force authorized – Area 51)
  • Silver UFO and alien with words Roswell 1947

***

  • Silver and turquoise hook key chain to hang on my purse (makes keys easy to find)

For today’s SLS, Jim Adams, of “A Unique Title For Me”, has asked for songs from TV shows. Thanks, Jim!

There are so many good theme songs for TV shows! Most all are memorable if we were a fan of the shows, as we heard them every time the show was aired. Most were also easy to sing along to.

This one I chose today, is from the TV show, “Roswell”. It’s one of my favorite shows. It ran from 1999 to 2002. I bought all three seasons of the DVDs, and have watched them many times.

The story is set in modern times in Roswell, New Mexico. It’s focus is the teenagers in high school, and the ups and downs of their relationships with boyfriends and girlfriends.

However, three new students in their high school are a bit different. They are aliens from another planet. They look normal, but have things about them that make people wonder what and who they really are. They are friends with a few other regular students, and let them know their secret. A lot of the episodes are of them figuring out how to evade the government, and scientists who suspect them of being aliens, but want to do experiments, if they ever catch them.

There is a lot of drama, and also a lot of humor in these stories. I love everything about this TV series.  Hope you can watch it one day. 🙂

The theme song for all three seasons is, “Here With Me”, by Dido. It is a haunting kind of tune, especially paired with the theme of the TV show.

I didn’t hear you leave
I wonder how am I still here
I don’t want to move a thing
It might change my memory

Oh I am what I am
I’ll do what I want, but I can’t hide
I won’t go, I won’t sleep
I can’t breathe, until you’re resting here with me
I won’t leave, I can’t hide
I cannot be, until you’re resting here with me
I don’t want to call my friends
They might wake me from this dream
And I can’t leave this bed
Risk forgetting all that’s been

Oh I am what I am

I’ll do what I want, but I can’t hide
I won’t go, I won’t sleep

I can’t breathe, until you’re resting here with me
I won’t leave, I can’t hide

I won’t go, I won’t sleep
I can’t breathe, until you’re resting here with me
I won’t leave, I can’t hide
I cannot be, until you’re resting here with me
Oh I am what I am
I’ll do what I want, but I can’t hide
I won’t go, I won’t sleep
I can’t breathe, until you’re resting here with me
I won’t leave, I can’t hide
I cannot be, until you’re resting here with me
I won’t leave, I can’t hide
I cannot be, until you’re resting here with me
I won’t go, I won’t sleep
I can’t breathe, until you’re resting here with me
I won’t leave, I can’t hide
I cannot be, until you’re resting here with me

UFO MUSEUM, ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO

We visited the International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell, New Mexico, a few years ago. It was during the annual 4th of July UFO Festival. The city is geared up for a good time. There are street vendors, concerts, and some people even wear funny costumes.

The museum is a cool place to wander around in. There are displays of actual newspapers from 1947, telling of the UFO crash, investigation, and possible cover-up by the government. You can see set up displays, depicting what happened. There is art, and photo opportunities everywhere in the building. You can even pose in the many scenes, with the aliens, which in this case, are rubber dummys. It’s all in fun, and the kitschy displays are funny. There is a gift shop, also, where you can buy all things UFO and alien related.

They also had invited several authors to the museum for book signings and sales. At another venue, there were many more authors set up, signing their books, and visiting with the people who came by. There were several scheduled speakers in the auditorium.

We didn’t stay for the night-time festivities, but there are bands playing music, street dances, and I’m sure everyone had fun. So, whether you believe in UFOs, aliens, or not, Roswell and the UFO museum and festival, is a wonderful place to spend some time, if you get the chance.

Three Things Challenge # 12

Three Things Challenge # 12

Today’s prompt: meatloaf, charger, sunblock

***

I was busy fixing a meatloaf for my supper, when the end of the world happened.

Just as I put the dish into the oven to cook, all the electricity in the house went out. I tried the lights, the TV, and checked the fuse box, but they all looked fine…just wouldn’t work.

Getting a bit worried, I grabbed my cell phone to call my friends. I wanted to know if their power was out, too. When I turned on my phone, though, I saw that I only had one % left in the battery. Crap! I got my charger and plugged it in. Of course I’d forgotten that to charge my phone, I needed electricity.

Now I was without supper and no phone life left. I knew I should have remembered to charge it up, but I was notorious about forgetting it.

I went outside. It was still daylight, as it was only about 5 p.m. The sun was on it’s way down, though. At least I think it was. Something was causing a sunblock. Well, I don’t know if that was what you’d call it, but the sky was funny looking. It wasn’t bright out, but there weren’t any clouds either. My neighbors were all outside, too, looking around. So it wasn’t just me and my house.

What happened next you won’t believe unless you were there. All the civil defense sirens began blowing…so loud! We heard the announcement like a voice from on high, but it was just the speakers attached to the power poles.

We have been invaded by unknown planetary entities …take cover…take cover now!

And so we did.

I ran back into my house, just running around from room to room, not knowing what to do. I’ve always been aware of tornado safety rules, and earthquake survival tips, but what will save me from alien invasion? Nothing! I’m doomed!

Finally, I grabbed my purse, because that’s what you do in an emergency, of course, and crawled under my bed. Maybe if they couldn’t see me, I’d be okay. I stayed there for I don’t know how long, but it seemed like hours. Eventually another announcement came over the speakers that all was clear. The electricity came back on and the TV news was giving explanations about the incident.

It seems the alien spacecraft that had blocked our sunshine, and depleted our electricity were not invading at all. They were friendly, but were just making a pit stop to charge up their own vehicle space ship while on their way to another planet.

Whew! Everyone was fine, but I really think they could have given us a little warning that they were stopping by for a short visit. Don’t you?

Ride Captain Ride – Song Lyric Sunday – Water

Thanks for hosting this fun musical challenge, Jim!

This is a song that I’ve always liked, because it brings back memories of an all night long, nonsensical drive around town with friends.

Here’s what is interesting/strange about the lyrics, to me, now that I’ve read them.

  • Why 73 men? What’s the significance of that number?
  • A storm was blowing, yet the sea was peaceful?
  • The ship was a mystery ship, come from nowhere, and then disappeared. Were they aliens from another planet trying to lure people to their ‘mystery ship’, and ‘another world’?

***

“Ride Captain Ride”, by Blues Image, was released from their album, “Open”, in 1970. It was written by Mike Pinera and Frank Konte, and is on the Atco/Atlantic label.

Ride Captain Ride

{Intro}

Seventy-three men sailed up from the San Francisco Bay
Rolled off of their ship, and here’s what they had to say
“We’re callin’ everyone to ride along to another shore
We can laugh our lives away and be free once more”

But no one heard them callin’, no one came at all
Cause they were too busy watchin’ those old raindrops fall
As a storm was blowin’ out on the peaceful sea
Seventy-three men sailed off to history

Ride, captain ride upon your mystery ship
Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip

Ride captain ride upon your mystery ship
On your way to a world that others might have missed

{Bridge}

List things or events that changed your life?

I’d say getting married, and having kids and grand-kids. Also, having had the opportunity to travel and live in other countries, has shown me that there are really wonderful people all over the world.

Complete this sentence: Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it’s…

A UFO!

What genre of music do you like?

I like all music. I could name every kind there is, and I could find something to like about them, even if it’s just one song or two. That said, I listen to Rock most of all.

ENLARGED

Farmers were wise to never again allow their cows out to this lush, green pasture.

Only the jack rabbits were in danger.

Releasing the last batch of bunnies into the woods, the UFO beamed up a new crop to enlarge.

CAUTION! WEIRD POST AHEAD!

Standard

CAUTION! WEIRD POST AHEAD!

On  a hot summer night, I was up in the stands at a race-car event. The track was huge, and cars were zip, zip, zipping past, sounding like mosquitoes. I watched them for awhile, but also kept looking up at the dark sky, like I do all the time, looking at the stars. As usual, I kept hoping a UFO would show itself.

Suddenly, I did see movement in amongst the stars, and it seemed to be getting closer. It was just a bright, little light, but was moving very fast toward us, here at the race. It got closer, still, until it was right above the track, and it began circling around, just like the fast race-cars. It was an even faster blur. It seemed to be a small jet plane, like an Air Force jet. How it could zoom around so super fast, I don’t know. Everyone watching from the stands were amazed.

After a couple of turns around the track, it took off, back into the dark sky. We watched until it was just a small, bright speck of light, again. However, just before we lost sight of it, we saw a giant explosion up in the sky, shooting orange flames, miles high.

First is of an underpass by Dallas/Ft. Worth airport, as we were flying over.

Next is a UFO replica at the UFO Museum in Roswell, NM.

That’s all I could find for U.

I kept finding ones for V, though.
