Six Degrees – Lost

Paula has given us this new challenge, called Six Degrees. We are to connect six things together in some way using whatever form we want, such as poems, TV shows, movies, and books.

Sounded fun to try, and this is my attempt. It was harder than it looked at first glance. Hope this works. Enjoy!

This book, “The Lost”, by Sarah Beth Durst, is about a woman who drives off into the desert and gets lost in a strange other worldly place.

***

This is sort of the same thing with this TV series, “Lost”, except these people are on an airplane that crashes on a lost island, where strange other worldly things happen. It stars Matthew Fox.

***

Now this song, “Sky Pilot”,  by Eric Burdon & the Animals, shows airplanes and helicopters, and war. The sky pilots are the chaplains who try to give hope and solace to the soldiers, and maybe save them, at least from despair. This may be what the people of the island in “Lost” need to get out of this weird world they’ve found themselves in.

***

The passengers of “Lost” divide up into different factions, with disagreements, and fighting. Some don’t like the Matthew Fox character being the leader, so could be he’s on the run, and that’s where this song ties in?

“Fox on the Run”, by Sweet.

***

The characters hope and pray for rescue and an end to the fighting and hopelessness of their situation on the island.

Jewel sings, “Who Will Save Your Soul”.

***

Are the people on the lost island real, or is it all in their imagination … or maybe a parallel universe they find themselves in. Only time will tell. In the meantime they are, as the title of this (my favorite book) shows, they are “Lost Souls” (by Poppy Z. Brite).

Just Jot It January # 28 – Television

The prompt word for today is ‘television’, and it’s the one I suggested!

Thanks so much, Linda, for the mention, and for hosting this fun challenge each year.

Okay, here’s a funny thing – On Just Jot It January last year, the prompt for January 19, 2019 was ‘television’. 🙂

Here’s my post from then, where I mostly talked about our cat watching a cat video on the TV! Sadly, we don’t have our indoor cats this year.

I would say I don’t really watch much TV. It’s on all the time, and my computer desk is right beside it, so I look over once in awhile. The mister is the one who watches shows.

I am too restless to just sit and stare at the TV. I have to be doing something else at the same time, such as typing my blogs, and reading others. Or I have a book I’m reading at the same time.

What I can’t stand is the commercials. They are so annoying.

We don’t really watch movies, and I think we have Netflix, but don’t understand how to use it, so don’t ever see anything with that either.

Mostly we have on the old sit-coms re-runs.

We watch some of the local news in the morning, and the Jeopardy game show in the afternoon – while doing other things.

Anyway, that’s my take on watching TV.

WITCHY FUN

~

From Oz to Salem, to suburban mayhem,

The witches entertained us all.

The witch of the west, was creepy at best,

And Glinda was belle of the ball.

Samantha twitched her nose,

Whenever she chose, and

Sabrina’s cat talks to her, it is true.

Elphaba was wicked,

Endora was vivid…

They all were an interesting crew.

The Sanderson sisters were funny and camp,

The witches of Eastwick were duped…

They all used their craft, and a bit of their vamp,

But Morticia’s my all favorite champ.

~

Shows referenced = Bewitched, The Wizard of Oz, The Addams Family, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Hocus Pocus, The Witches of Eastwick, and Wicked (broadway play)

Share Your World – August 20, 2018

Hello, Monday! Time for a new set of questions from Cee, and answers from me! Join in…click the link! 🙂

***

Which tastes better: black or green olives?

What’s your favorite room in your home?

What fictional family would you be a member of?

***

To me, green olives taste the best. I can sometimes eat a black olive, if they are included in something, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get one.

My favorite room in this house would probably be the living room. It’s where this computer & desk is, and also most of my scrapbooking and coloring supplies are (in 3 drawer bins). Also it’s right by the TV, so I can listen and sort of watch while I’m typing. I spend most of the time in here.

A fictional family …hmm… Cee chose the Waltons, and that’s a really good one. Should I go back to the days of Andy Griffith, and live with Aunt Bea and Opie, in the very small town of Mayberry? Or, maybe the future, with the family from Lost in Space, or Star Trek, which would be interesting, too. No…I’ll go live with either the Munsters, or the Addams Family, because I mostly identify with Lily and Morticia the most. They were all funny and creepy and lived in cool houses.

CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN – DAY 3 – CHRISTMAS SPECIALS

Ok, so…Christmas Specials is the topic for the Christmas Countdown on day 3 of the challenge. (yes, I’m running late on these, go figure 🙂 …

Now, by Christmas Specials, I’m thinking these are for television programs? All I can think of are those for kids, like the Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and Frosty the Snowman. I used to watch all of them. They are good and have stood the test of time, as I’m sure most little kids love them, even today. My kids liked them a lot, and I guess my grand-kids do, too. I sometimes see them on, but don’t make a point of sitting and watching the whole thing, these days.

If you are meaning, movie specials on TV…let’s see. I’m sure I’ve watched some, but can’t recollect what they were, right now. Maybe White Christmas, or It’s a Wonderful Life, but I’ve actually never watched them all the way through.

I do like the the sit-com TV show Christmas Specials. Pretty much all of them I’ll watch, more than once, if they are aired every season.

Do y’all make a point of watching the special Christmas shows every year?
