Another of my old watches. This one is an Elgin, wind up watch. Sadly, it doesn’t wind up any more.

This is a watch/necklace that if I remember correctly, belonged to my grandma. I’m not positive, though she usually did wear one of these. It’s not all that old, as it takes a battery.

“Knock Three Times”, by Tony Orlando and Dawn, was released from their album, “Candida”, in 1970. It was written by Irwin Levine, and Russell Brown, and is on the Bell label.

This Cinderella watch is one I’ve had since I was a kid. It’s not the original band, though, as it wore out. It is a wind up watch, but doesn’t wind any more, but you can still move the watch hands.

“Summertime, Summertime”, by the Jamies, was released in 1958. It was written by Tom Jameson, and is on the Epic Records label.

There is only one rule, your photograph must be square!

The December theme is TIME. I am sure everyone has found at least one #timesquare, but just in case you are struggling here are some #timesquare ideas;

  1. Timepieces – clocks, watches, sun dials and egg timers
  2. Sayings – Time & tide wait for no man (or woman!), A stitch in time saves nine, Early bird catches the worm, In the nick of time or More haste, less speed
  3. Synonyms – era, moment, season, infinity, interval, lifetime and age
  4. Out of the box – nighttime, downtime, pastime and mealtimes!

I will be posting daily and it would be fabulous if you could too, but don’t worry if you can’t as weekly posts, sporadic posts or even one post at the end of the month are all timely!

Don’t forget to keep your photograph square and to pingback to one of my time posts.

‘Time is relative’

***

It’s time! Time for Becky’s Square in December, with the topic of …Time! Sounds fun, doesn’t it? If you’d like to participate, just check out the link above.

For my posts this month, I’ll be posting one photo of something to do with time, and a song that is about an element of time. Music is a big part of my interests, and music is timeless. Music can bring back memories of good times, or sometimes bad times, but the moment you hear a certain song, it takes you right back to that time and place. Hope you enjoy my selections for this challenge.

JUST JOT IT JANUARY – TIME jjj-2017

#JusJoJan Daily Prompt – Jan. 2nd/17

***

The Just Jot It January 2nd prompt, brought to you by JoAnna, from her blog “Anything is Possible,” is: “Time.” Use it any way you’re inspired to. And make sure you stop by and say hi to JoAnna as well! Here’s her blog: https://joannesilvia.com/

Thanks, JoAnna! 🙂

For the 2nd day of JusJoJan, the prompt is the word ‘time’.

***

As the catchphrase of this blog (see above ) is… ‘wandering through life in my time machine…you never know where it will stop next’, the prompt word is a good one for me. I wish there were such things as time machines. It would be so cool to travel back in the past, or forward in the future. Maybe someday, right?

Anyway, thinking about time, there are lots of phrases we’ve always heard and know what they mean:

  • time to get up/go to bed
  • time for your meds
  • time of your life
  • time of the month
  • set the timer
  • do you have the time?
  • punch the time-clock
  • two-time someone
  • High Times magazine

Then, there are lots of songs about time, so let’s get in the way back time machine and see what I have for you. 🙂

  • Hazy Shade of Winter – I like the Bangles (1987) version of the Simon and Garfunkle song (1966)
  • Turn, Turn, Turn – I like the Byrds (1965) version of the Pete Seeger song
  • Time in a Bottle – Jim Croce (1973)
  • Time After Time – Cyndi Lauper (1984)
  • Time of the Season- The Zombies (1967)

Here’s a couple to listen to. 🙂

JUST JOT IT JANUARY – # 24 – COMPELLED

Standard

JUST JOT IT JANUARY – # 24 – COMPELLED untitled

Today’s prompt word is Compelled. It means to cause to occur by overwhelming pressure, to drive irresistibly, and the feeling of having to do something because you are forced to, or feel it is necessary.

To find out more about this challenge, click below:

Just Jot It January 24th – Compelled – We’re almost there!

~

Are you ever compelled to do something? Do you get an overwhelming desire to do something? I know I do.

I’m compelled to write. For as long as I can remember, I feel the need to write everything down, whether just a jot or note, pages of words in essays, poems, thoughts, daily happenings, and lists. Mostly, I use pen and paper, and then type it out if I share on this blog.

I enjoy being compelled to write, every day, in one way or another. I have found, though, that it takes up a lot of time, which in turn, means I don’t get to the other things I want to get done. I wish there were more hours in the day to do it all.

I feel compelled to read, and respond to every blog I follow, and those that follow mine. I try my best to keep up with all the notices I get on email. I feel bad if I have to skip any, as I know it takes that person’s time to post on their blog. But, I still want to get to everyone. Is that even possible?

Could compulsion be another way of saying addiction? I think so. I enjoy writing, and if I’m compelled to do it, or addicted to it, that’s all right with me. 🙂
