  1. What is worse than a dentist with bad breath? … A murderer would be worse, Bad breath doesn’t necessarily kill you (you just think it will) but now … a dentist that wears no mask and has bad breath may certainly kill you, and is a murderer!
  2. Have you ever been rejected by someone that you liked, or been told that you were not good enough for somebody else? … Not that I know of.
  3. Did you ever want to have toast for breakfast, only to find that all your bread was covered in green mold? … Yes, so I throw it away and find something else to eat.
  4. Did you ever sneeze so hard that your whole body hurt? .. Yes, that and coughing, too.
  5. Did you ever buy clothing on the internet that did not fit, but you wore them anyway, since you didn’t want to pay the $5 shipping charge to send them back? … No, we don’t buy things to wear (or really anything) from the internet.

Is cereal soup? Why or why not? … I think not. Cereal is basically grains and you pour milk over them. You can eat it plain and dry, or hot or cold. Soup is most always served hot, and has vegetables and maybe some meat in it.

What are some interesting ways to answer everyday questions like “how’s it going” or “what do you do”? … We probably just say ‘it’s going’. For the other, I’d probably say ‘whatever I want to do’.

What was your favorite toy growing up? … I played a lot with little plastic people and animals, quite a bit with paper dolls, Barbie dolls, jacks, stuffed animals.

If you have a pet, and you could ask it three questions, what would you ask? … What do you want? Want to play? Why do you eat all your food except one tiny little green pea. You always leave that one tiny bit … why?

  1.  Do you like or dislike surprises? Why or why not? … Most of the time I don’t like surprises. I kind of need a bit of time to prepare myself for whatever is to happen, either good or bad.
  2. What’s your favorite zoo animal? … I’ve always liked the giraffes.
  3.  What three things do you think of the most each day? … What is going to hurt or give a pain this day, the weather, what book am I going to read next.

‘Deep’ Question

4. When, if ever, is taking a human life justified? … If some bad person is coming at you to kill you or any of your family, then I’d kill them first if I could.

What’s the tallest building you’ve been to the top of?

That would be the Metro Tower Building here in our town. It is 25 stories tall. Otherwise I’ve been to the top of the National WWI Liberty Memorial Tower in Kansas City Missouri, which is 20 stories tall.

***

What do you do to keep fit? … Pretty much nothing.

What’s your jack-o-lantern carved to look like? … I haven’t carved a pumpkin in many years. Here’s one I did, though. img_4114

Do you have hope or have you lost it? … I think I’m always hopeful.

We have new questions for SYW from Melanie, and answers from me. To join in and also see other entries, just click the above link. Thanks for hosting SYW Melanie! 🙂

***

The first question is courtesy of the magnificent blogger, Rory (aka A Guy Called Bloke”). He asked this one last Saturday on a random question post he wrote and I thought it was nifty AND sort of Halloween-y, so I thought I’d include it.
“How many people in real life or on social media (including WordPress, which has become a rather social media site) do you consider good enough friends to help you ‘hide the dead body?”
This is purely a silly and fun exercise, so don’t worry that there are bodies in need of burying. At least I don’t have any…. if you do, I hope you have some good friends who will lend a hand in getting rid of the evidence AND never tell a living soul….70 Halloween Pumpkin Emoticons:

***

I don’t imagine I’d ever need to hide a body, and even if I did I don’t know anyone that would help.

But the girls in this story/song sure did! 🙂

Are You Ready To Order?   What Are You Having (craving) right now?

Not craving anything right now since I just had lunch. Most times though I’d be craving Mexican food.

How’s the weather in YOUR neck of the woods?

Right now it is 54 degrees F and mostly cloud covered. May get up to 70 or so later on. We’ve had a rollercoaster time with temps lately, as it goes up to almost 100, then down to the 40s the next day, then back up again. Still no rain – none for months!

Lastly, one deep question, because some folks enjoy those.  Prepare yourself.  Or pass. It’s all good!

There has always been something. Before there was something, there was only nothing. Which do you think is more likely?

There probably has always been something, even if it was just stars, suns, planets and space.

Attitude of Gratitude:

What is your favorite time of year?  Why?

My favorite time of year is the fall/autumn. I like the colors of autumn, the reds, golds, oranges, and yellows. I like how the days have cooled off from our hot summertime, but still are nice and warm, with only a few chilly days with maybe some rain soon.

When was the last time you tried something new?  How did that go for you? … Just the other day I tried something new – this dreaded block thing here. So far it’s going okay. I still don’t like it, but by fiddling around more and more I remember which icon to push to get what I want on my posts.

What’s the most sensible thing you’ve ever heard someone say? … I’m sure lots of people say lots of sensible things. Do I remember them? Not usually. But, here’s one that’s true – ‘tomorrow is another day’, said when you’re fed up with some situation, and wish the day would be over. Maybe the tomorrow will be better.

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are? … 25

Lastly, I’ll be doing one “Halloween” themed question per week during October.  Those who don’t observe the holiday are welcome to answer or to ignore it as they wish.

Fun  CREEPY Halloween Question:

Have you ever seen a ‘fresh’ corpse (aka dead body)? … Yes, several times.

Where do you feel most at home?  Please be more specific than “at home, doh” please. It could be a room in your home, a person, a location… My favorite place at home is right here at my computer desk. I spend most all day here, so that’s a good thing I like it. Otherwise I like my bedroom, because I have a recliner in there where I sit and read at night (and fall asleep), have a snack, and be all comfortable with blankets, pillows, and surrounded by books.

Would you rather ride a bike, ride a horse, or drive a car?  … Let’s see, I’d rather ride a horse. It’s been many years since I have, but I don’t really like driving a car (and haven’t done that in a really long time, either), and I just know I’d fall off a bike and break something.

What song would you sing on “Karoke Night” (if you were forced to do so)?  … I can’t sing. I make singing noises, but the awfulness of it would drive everyone away in a hurry.

University or life experience, which do you feel best prepares you for life? … I’d say life experience would be the best preparation. Book learning is good, but you have to develop some common sense by dealing with whatever comes along in your life over the years.

Here are the new questions for SYW from Melanie, and answers from me. Join in this weekly challenge and see other entries by clicking the above link. Thanks, Melanie! 🙂

***

  1. Have you ever driven the wrong way on a one-way street? How did this come about? … Yes. It turned out fine, because I noticed right away and turned around by finding another street.

  1. As a kid, did you ever decide to run away? Did you have a plan? Take a pet? Sandwiches? … Nope, I never did this.

  1. You suddenly found you have a hidden talent for playing a musical instrument. What musical instrument do you hope that accompanies your talent?  Any particular song? … I always want to play the guitar – any song – but unless I have magic talent, I can’t seem to stick with it long enough to actually learn how to play.

  1. Do you accessorize with jewelry? There was an opal necklace (cursed) and Slytherin’s locket (also cursed) in the Potter story. Have you had any heirloom jewelry passed down through the generations? Is it more ‘keepsake’ or do you wear it on occasion? (Hopefully, yours was not cursed?)  … I like jewelry – necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings, and wear them quite often. I do have a few jewelry pieces handed down from relatives. I also sometimes make my own. Also I get some from yard sales or estate sales. If any of these are haunted or cursed I don’t know about it.

Melanie’s Ordinary Muggle Questions:

What ingredients go into YOUR favorite salad? … I like salads sometimes, but making them takes too much time. I like lettuce, tomato, radish, onion, mushroom, bell pepper, carrot, parsley flakes, cilantro, grated parmesan cheese, croutons, and ranch dressing or Italian dressing. But mostly I just make lettuce & tomato because it’s faster than chopping up all that other stuff.

If you care to, share something that really irritates you. … Commercials on TV irritate me so much – hate all of them.

What are your favorite ‘lounging around the house’ items of clothing?  Now that a lot of people ‘lounge around the house’ waiting for the all clear in respect to Covid being shown the door, have those lounging items changed? … No, nothing has changed in what I wear around the house. PJs most of the time, or stretchy pants and a sweater. Comfort is everything!  🙂

Q & A

  1. What happened to cause you to discover ‘bullies” were real?  … Only by hearing or reading about bullies or bullying, as I’ve never known of any.
  2. Eavesdropping- When given the chance, how often do you eavesdrop?   (this may be a similar question to what some folks said they’d do with an invisibility cloak) … I’d say I eavesdrop on conversations all the time, especially when we are out and about. Same as people watching, I hear what they are saying, too.
  3. Escalators, at one time, were the ‘next big thing’. When was the last time you rode an escalator? … The last time I rode an escalator would be when we went to the large book store here in town. It’s two stories, and has an escalator (up and down) to get to more books. Plus, the bathroom is up on the second floor, too.
  4. Have you ever ‘let’ someone win in a sports competition or a board game? How did it turn out?  … I think I’m weird, in that I like other people to win, rather than me. I don’t ‘fix’ the game, but I’m not very good at them anyway, so I’m happy when someone else wins.

Melanie’s Muggle Questions:

I’m very short on time today (Sunday) so I’m borrowing from Rory and Sandmanjazz to fill the questions today:

Do our fears start with our DNA?  (Credit to Rory) … Only some of them, such as the startle reaction, or the fight or flight reaction to some kind of danger. The rest is because you’ve come across a situation that negatively impressed you, so it becomes a fear or a phobia.

If you could have your hair any colour for 24 hours, what colour would you choose?  (Credit to Sandmanjazz) … Over the years I’ve had my hair all kinds of colors, and liked them all. I like auburn/red, or burgundy, or black the best.

When do you think a person gets old?  (Credit to Rory) … Well, age in numbers could say you were of an old age, but really it’s how you feel, I think. Some days you feel fine and forget your age, and other days are just drags, and you feel much older than you are.

  1. Many local regions, especially rural areas where I live, have haunted houses. Have you ever spent the night in a house that was supposedly haunted? Anything ‘strange” happen?

Well yes, I have spent the night in a haunted house. Every house I’ve lived in has been haunted. I am a ghost, after all. 🙂

Strange things are always happening.

  1. The Quidditch Cup (riding broomsticks while chasing a small ball) was a huge sporting event in the land of Hogwarts. What is the largest sporting event (or concert, etc.) that you have ever attended?

Hmmm, I didn’t count how many people were in attendance, but I’ve been to large concerts, and also a college football game or two in the past.

  1. When you go for a swim, do you prefer an ocean, the seaside lakes, or a pool?

I don’t ever go for a swim. I used to when I was a kid, but only in a nice pool. I’d never ever want to get in the water of a lake, because of the horrible fish.

  1. Ron Weasley received a horrid robe to wear as formal wear to the Christmas dance at Hogwarts. Tell about the most ‘ghastly’ fashion statement that you have ever made.

I hope I’ve never worn anything ghastly!

Muggle Questions (from Melanie):

What is the last song you sang along to?

Probably the song I used for Song Lyric Sunday yesterday, which was, “Poison”, by Alice Cooper.

What was your scariest nightmare about?

Tornadoes always tornadoes after being in the F5 tornado back in 1970. I had nightmares about that for years, and even now in the springtime I’ll have another one.

What food do you crave most often?

Popcorn and nuts. I can’t eat these any more because of a medical condition, so I crave them all the time.

What’s your grossest bug story?

Bug story? I like bugs so really they don’t gross me out. Well, how about this one – I kept an insulated jug of water by the sink for use at night. It had a straw. So, I take a big sip, and feel something squirmy in my mouth. I spit it out and it was a fairly large spider! Yuck! He was okay, and I survived.
