For SOCS today we’re supposed to think of a word we have trouble spelling.

I’ve been thinking and thinking and I just know there are some I have to look up sometimes, but can’t really think of any until I’m actually trying to type them. Maybe those like ‘autumn’, or ‘column’ …those mn words? I never understand why the ‘n’ letter is stuck onto the end. I don’t have to look up the spelling on them, though.

Sheesh – I can’t think of any right now, but sure as soon as I’m done with this, I’ll think of one, of course.

The most trouble I have is transposing letters – reversing how they go – so I have to backspace and do it over. That happens a lot, maybe because I type really fast, and my fingers get ahead of the word. haha

I’ve always been good at spelling, so unless it’s a really strange word, I usually spell it right the first time. Sometimes I’ll check to make sure, though.

Well, hope all of you are having a lovely a u t u m n day! 🙂

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS May 30/2020

***

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “spay/splay/spray.” Use one, use two, use ’em all, it’s up to you. Have fun!

***

Can’t really think of anything interesting to say about these prompt words, so … here’s some other words you can make …

play * pay * ray * lay * yap * pass * alp * lap * asp * laps * alps * yaps * pays * sap * rap * slay * yay * say

and that’s enough of that.

At the moment, which is about 11:11 a. m. on Saturday, it is a bright sunny day, 79 degrees, going up to high 80s later, the wind is blowing, the Mr. is outside doing weed-eating, the TV is on in here (Roseanne), and in the garage the radio is playing the same old songs over and over all day long. I don’t know what is for lunch, and we are bored with every kind of food there is. I’m sure we will find something in a little while, though.

I hope your weekend is going good! 🙂

Cat TV – SOCS & Just Jot It January – Television

The Friday Reminder for #SoCS & #JusJoJan 2019 Daily Prompt – Jan. 19th

***

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “television.” Talk about your favorite show, past, present, or future, or about the apparatus itself. Enjoy!

***

Today we have Stream of Consciousness Saturday SOCS and Just Jot It January all in one! The prompt word is Television.

***

Cat TV. Television programs for cats? Yes, there is such a thing.

Here’s the video tape I bought a long time ago, so the cats could watch little critters on the screen.

img_5095

Only Cricket loved watching it. She’d stay there for a really long time, and occasionally reach up her paw to try and catch something. The other cats we had at the time, paid no attention to it at all. Even now, Cricket will watch some TV, just regular whatever is on. We don’t have a VCR anymore, so can’t play her video any more, though.

For me, the TV is on all the time, but I don’t really watch much. I’m sitting right by it, and glance over once in awhile. The mister watches stuff, and flips the channel every few minutes/seconds…if there is a commercial on…flip, flip, flip…

We do like the old black & white sitcoms though, and will try to find those, like Andy Griffith. Sometimes we will watch more recent programs, but they are all re-runs of things like Everybody Loves Raymond. We’ve seen them all over & over. Still funny.

I didn’t even know we have Netflix until the other day. I don’t know why we have it, guess it just comes with our cable? We looked at the menu thing, didn’t see anything we wanted to watch. We don’t really watch many movies, anyway.

So, that’s it for today SOCS & Just Jot It January.

Wishing y’all a super Saturday! 🙂

Motive – Stream of Consciousness Saturday

Motive – Stream of Consciousness Saturday

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Sept. 9/17

***

The prompt word of the day for SOCS is ‘motive’.

To join in this weekly challenge, just click the above link to find out how, and to see other entries.

Thanks, Linda!

***

We’re supposed to write this as a stream of consciousness type of, well…writing. That means to type whatever comes into your mind, just as it comes, with no planning of what you’re going to say. You can correct misspellings, but basically, that’s it. The problem is, trying to think of something that has to do with the prompt word. Today’s is ‘motive’.

The only thing I can think of…well, there are 2 things.

Motive rhymes with Votive. That’s votive, as in candles? Votive candles are little ones, I think. I have a lot of candles, votive, and other kinds, bigger ones. I like them, but almost never light them. I would probably forget to blow them out if we went somewhere, and I wouldn’t want something to catch fire.

The other thing I thought about is the word, motivate. The mister is always saying that.”Let’s motivate!” This is to say, let’s get a move on, get in the car, let’s go. Him saying that never actually made any of us motivate any faster, though. In fact, the more we are urged to hurry up, the slower it makes us, because it interrupts what we’re doing.

Motive, Votive, Motivate. I thought of that song by INXS, called “Mediate”. That is the one where they hold up all the different rhyming words to the lyrics. I watched it, and not one of those words were motive, or motivate. Almost all their sign words had the ending rhyme as ‘…ate’, but not motivate. Oh, well.

Guess I’d better motivate on with the day. Have a good one, y’all. 🙂

SOCS – SO, SOW, SEW

SOCS – SO, SOW, SEW socsbadge2016-17

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Feb. 11/17

Today’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday includes the words, so, sow, and sew. Join in the fun by clicking the above link. 🙂

***

So…

#SOCS starts with ‘SO’. Just noticed that.

Do you ever say ‘so-so’? Like when someone asks how you’re doing, you just answer, “I’m doing so-so.” I think that means everything is going along as normal as possible. Nothing bad, nothing good, just so-so.

I like to start sentences with the  -so- word. I don’t know why, and it does become repetitive, so… I have to go back and take some of the ‘so’ words out.

Next up is the same sounding word, ‘sow’. Like when you plant seeds in a garden or flower pot. I do that a lot in the spring. I’m not good at growing plants, but I keep sowing seeds, to see what, if anything comes up. This word could also sound like a pig…sow, which sounds completely different from ‘sow’, even though it’s spelled the same way. How would you phonetically spell that? I don’t know. I just tried sounding it out, but my mouth made funny expressions, so I stopped trying to sound out ‘sow’ like a pig.

I used to do a lot of sewing. I still have a sewing machine, and get it out once in awhile. Used to you could buy fabric and a pattern to make an outfit of some kind, and it was cheaper than buying it ready-made. Last time I checked, this wasn’t the case anymore. So…I don’t sew clothes these days.

That’s about all.

Happy Weekend! 🙂

Well, I can barely stand to tell you this, but I’m a whole week late in posting the SOCS from last Saturday. I had it all ready to go, (the photo and video), then forgot to post it. I wrote a lot about it all…in my head. I thought I’d posted it, but no. So, here I am this weekend, trying to catch up with the ‘sh’ post, and the one from today, ‘bear/bare’ topic prompts.

Bear with me while I ramble a bit.

For the ‘sh’ word sound, it was perfect for last week. I actually had a vanilla shake for lunch. Yay! It was good, too. Later in the week we went to a garden shop here in town, to look at all the pretty Christmas trees they have decorated and on display. Then, the next day after that, I was shivering…I had caught a cold, and was well, cold, and then hot. You know how that is.

Anyway, here’s a photo of my shake, and an old type video of a fun song with the word Shake in the title. 🙂

Here is a photo of one of the Christmas trees we saw, and there is a bear ornament – Winnie the Pooh! Shall this be enough?

Today’s SOCS is brought to you by the word YES. 🙂

***

Yes, I can start talking about the word yes. Here are a few things I can say YES about:

  • Yes, it’s Saturday, and I’ve gone nowhere today. I’ve done some laundry, and read some blog posts, and typed some of my own.
  • Yes, we are having home made stew and cornbread for supper
  • Yes, we had our first freeze of the season this morning
  • Yes, I’m drinking my afternoon coffee right now
  • Yes, I listened to my grand-daughter sing about Figgy Pudding today. It’s a funny word 🙂
  • Yes, the Canada geese have arrived back in town (and our playa lake next to the house) for their winter stay
  • Yes, I’ve included a song by the Carpenters
  • Yes! 🙂

SECOND – for SOCS – STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS SATURDAY

SECOND – for SOCS – STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS SATURDAY untitled

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS July 23/16

***

Wait a second…what are we writing about? Do you say ‘wait a second’ a lot? I do, but a second in this case lasts longer than one second.

Do you still wear a watch that has a ‘second’ hand? Isn’t that what it was called, that little hand that goes round and round, counting off the seconds? Now, a lot of watches and clocks just count off the seconds by flipping/changing a lighted up number.

I seem to spend a lot of time counting seconds down when waiting for something to heat up in the microwave. Watching those seconds…5, 4, 3, 2, 1…ding-ding, it’s ready! Sometimes I can’t wait that long, so I stop it before the seconds are finished with their count down.

Here’s a story that’s true. In second grade I got into trouble. I remember it to this day, and still feel like I was in the right. We were to draw pictures of the sky and clouds, for some reason. I love drawing, and coloring, so I took my time doing a super looking picture on that big sheet of manilla paper they hand out. I drew my clouds in the shape of sheep. a lot of them up in the sky. All those pretty white sheep, floating in a sky of blue. So pretty. Well, teacher didn’t like it, and said clouds were not sheep. Well, of course I knew that, but haven’t you ever looked up at the fluffy clouds to see shapes? There could be a sheep shape.  haha sheep shape…well, anyway, she was wrong and I was right. Don’t you think so?

That’s all I have for the prompt word ‘second’ at this time. I could probably think of more, but my few seconds for this SOCS is up! 🙂
