Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “twin/tween.” Use, “twin” or “tween” any way you’d like. Bonus points if you use both. Enjoy!

I remember one time years ago, my sister and I somehow both had a fluffy fake fur coat exactly the same. I don’t know that we planned it or not, but we both liked our coats. So this one day we were at a store walking around, both in our coats, and there was a little girl who stared at us. She said real loud, “They’s twins!”.

Well, we thought she was so cute, and I guess we did kind of look like twins to her, wearing the same kind of coat. We laughed about that for years after, and all we ever have to do is repeat what that little girl said, to get us laughing all over again.

I actually have a photo of that coat. It was black and white mingled fake fur, and very poofy. haha 🙂 The date on the photo was Nov. 70.

BBQ – SOCS – On My Plate

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “on your/my plate.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

***

What can I think of about something on my plate? Umm – we have some actual plates, made of plate material – glass? I don’t really know what they are made of. They are those Correlle? Sorry, I need to look up how to spell that. Okay it’s Corelle! I almost got it right.

The thing is, we don’t use them any more. They are in the cabinet though. These days it’s all paper plates for us. The more sturdy kind mostly. They are plate sized, and we do have some larger ones. Still made of paper.

We don’t have to do many dishes that way. We also use plastic forks.

What do we put on our plates? Well, food .. something different for each meal. Though we get bored eating the same things all the time.

For our Thanksgiving dinner we had barbeque! It was ribs, burnt ends, and baked beans, and BBQ sauce. We saved the chopped brisket for sandwiches later. We also had a baked potato.

My daughter up in KC had a restaurant ship us the meal. It came frozen solid (dry ice) in a cooler, by FedX the day before. It was really good, too.

Random thoughts >>>

— One ring-a-dingy, two ring-a-dingy … This is how a skit on the old TV variety show, “Laugh In”, usually started. It was Lily Tomlin acting the part of a switchboard operator named Ernestine. She was so funny as she made jokes as she made calls and answered calls while on her job.

— Does anyone remember the old TV ad for using Whisk laundry soap? It was pretty funny, but annoying when they’d say in a sing song voice ‘ring around the collar, ring around the collar’.

— I have a lot of rings to wear, but these days I don’t wear any. Mostly my rings are fun and cute novelty kind of animals, like leopard faces, turtles, peace signs, skulls, butterflies and bats. I don’t have any that are expensive unless maybe my turquoise rings are.

— I had one ring with a real diamond one time. It was my engagement ring. It got lost or stolen a long time ago.

— My kids used to like those candy ‘ring pops’. They still have them at the candy counter I believe. It’s a plastic ring to wear, but the ‘jewel’ on top was a giant, diamond shaped lollipop.

— Telephone rings, bathtub rings, bells ringing …

— One time I saw a ring around the moon and it was so pretty. I didn’t get a picture of it. I did get a picture of a ring around the sun, though. A sun halo!

A ring around the sun – a sun halo taken around noon one day

A dumb poem:

knick knack paddy whack, knit a knight a sack

heard on the gnus tonight the knight is coming back

he had a knack for knitting and was in the knead of yarn

his horse neighed and gnawed as he kicked in the barn

and if it was left up to me,

tongue twister of why

Herman’s hermits song

Well, that’s my first thoughts to do for today’s prompt word, ‘why’. And I forgot to start with the word as instructed. Oh well, can’t go back now because that’s another little rule of this challenge. Sometimes we (or I) pay no attention to the rules, and sometimes I do.

So, let me think a minute or two … make up a tongue twister? Yeah, I could do that. I like trying to say them.

How’s this …

Why whirling whales whistle whisper whoppers? Whimsy!

Herman’s Hermits song, “The End of the World”

Why does the sun go on shining? Why does the sea rush to shore? Don’t they know it’s the end of the world ‘Cause you don’t love me anymore?

SOCS – Wallpapaper

Today’s Stream of Consciousness prompt is:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “wallpaper.” Use it however you’d like. Have fun!

***

Okay, think about wallpaper. We used to have wallpaper in our house when I was a kid. Can’t remember which room it was in, but this one kind was sort of gray/silver with some pink accents, maybe flowers? Anyway there were some rolls of it left over, and they gave it to me. Why? Because I always needed more paper to draw on. I drew tons of pictures on the blank back of that roll of wallpaper. I still have some of them after all these years.

Another remembrance of wallpaper is at my Granny’s house. Her bedroom had wallpaper that was of lots of pink roses and leaves on a white background. I finally figured out they were called cabbage roses. I used to try to count them, but there were too many.

Here’s something I actually do every now and again. I get those huge wallpaper sample books that have been discontinued from the home improvement stores. They are free. I use them to decorate scrapbook pages, or for photo challenges sometimes, and whatever else I think of. Some of those pages of wallpaper are so pretty, some are fabric, some are vinyl, most are just paper of different textures. So fun!

That’s all I can think about wallpaper today. Wishing you a fun weekend! 🙂

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “the first 2-5 words at the top of the closest printed matter.” Open (if necessary) the closest printed matter to you. Use the first 2-5 words at the top of the page any way you’d like in your post. Have fun!

Well, this is an interesting prompt! If you want to join in, and also see other entries, just click the link. Thanks, Linda!

The only printed item I have close by is my coloring book and pencils. This one says ‘Catitude Is Everything’. I’ve not quite finished the coloring page, but I work on coloring every evening.

What does that statement mean, I wonder. I’ve heard it a lot. Well, cats are cute, they all have individual personalities as you get to know them.

Here’ my thoughts on being like a cat with ‘catitude’.

Be cute when you want smiles and admiration from your people.

Be aloof when you want to be alone for awhile. A good hiding place is needed, like a closet or under the bed. Don’t come out when called … unless it’s feeding time.

Be a beggar. Meow a lot and twine around your people’s feet when you’re hungry. This is tricky, though. If they give you boring food, you must immediately become aloof!

Be competent in the art of staring at your people. It makes them nervous. They may try to bribe you with treats, but ignore them.

Be mysterious. We cats come from an ancient species, so keep lots of secrets.

Be able to purr convincingly and you will have charmed everyone. ❤

Stream of Consciousness Saturday

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS March 13, 2021

***

Today, our prompt from Linda G. Hill, is the following in the bold letters.  And … Or … write about how the year 2020 went for us.

our Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “day/week/month/year.” Use one, use them all, use them any way you’d like. Enjoy!

***

Well, first of all it’s that time of year when we have to set our clocks forward an hour – Spring forward for Daylight Savings Time. Sigh … eye roll … why are we still doing this? Wish they’d say it would stay one way or another all year long. If I had my choice though, I’d leave it on DST because I like it to stay light later in the evenings.

Only one of my clocks change automatically – my phone. The others we must do by pushing buttons. You really never realize how many clocks you have until you have to go changing them forward and back during a year.

***

Now how did my 2020 year go?

January was okay I think

February was okay until right after Valentine’s day. I think I had Covid, but they just said it was the flu. I’ve had the flu many times over my years, but nothing like this time. It was awful. I had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance, and stayed there a week on oxygen and medications. Then finally got to go home, but still on oxygen and medicines for at least 6 weeks, with the home health nurses coming in several times a week

Then they say the Covid started up – but really it started in 2019 – Covid 19 you know.  We were scared about it, of course. Started doing all the safety precautions, and we still are here a year later.

I go no where except I’ve been to a few doctor appointments. The mister does all the shopping for groceries. I disinfect it all when taking them out of the bags.

Staying in hasn’t been a big deal to me, as I’m not really a go out and do things person anyway. We’ve only seen our daughter & family a very few times. Usually we’d go out to eat, or to yard sales, but we didn’t get to during this year.

And now I have gotten both doses of the vaccine, so that’s a little bit of relief. Still taking precautions, though and will from now on I imagine.

The rest of the year’s months went just fine. Nothing much changes around here day to day. I read, I blog, I read, I cook, I do laundry, I watch TV, I read … and repeat.

Stream of Consciousness Saturday –

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Oct. 17/2020

***

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “a word you have to look up.” We all have words we can never spell. Use one of yours in your post and let that word drive your stream of consciousness where ever it goes. Have fun!

Thanks for the prompt today, Linda! If you’d like to join in and also see other entries, just click the above link. 🙂

For SOCS today we’re supposed to think of a word we have trouble spelling.

I’ve been thinking and thinking and I just know there are some I have to look up sometimes, but can’t really think of any until I’m actually trying to type them. Maybe those like ‘autumn’, or ‘column’ …those mn words? I never understand why the ‘n’ letter is stuck onto the end. I don’t have to look up the spelling on them, though.

Sheesh – I can’t think of any right now, but sure as soon as I’m done with this, I’ll think of one, of course.

The most trouble I have is transposing letters – reversing how they go – so I have to backspace and do it over. That happens a lot, maybe because I type really fast, and my fingers get ahead of the word. haha

I’ve always been good at spelling, so unless it’s a really strange word, I usually spell it right the first time. Sometimes I’ll check to make sure, though.

Well, hope all of you are having a lovely a u t u m n day! 🙂
