This is my all time favorite song. It just brings out something extremely emotional in me like no other.

For today’s song choice, Bee has suggested something in a foreign language. I suppose that means a different language than we normally speak. Thanks, Bee!

I wanted to show this one, because it is a favorite of mine, and because it is one that my five year old grand-daughter sings all the time. She learned the Japanese words to this song pretty much as soon as she could talk. Her mom played the song for her and sang it to her in Japanese ever since she was born. Now she can sing it herself.

I don’t know that it is a love song (as love is the theme of these challenges), but I love it, and I love hearing my grand-daughter sing it. Also, I love the stars, and looking up into the night sky filled with all the beautiful diamonds.

“Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (In Japanese)” by Kira Kira Boshi, is a well known English children’s lulllaby song and poem written by Jane Taylor, called, “The Star”. It was first published in 1806, from a collection of her poems. There are five stanzas, but the first one is the most widely known.

Origins

The English lyrics were first written as a poem by Jane Taylor (1783–1824)[4] and published with the title “The Star” in Rhymes for the Nursery by Jane and her sister Ann Taylor (1782–1866) in London in 1806:[5]

Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are!
Up above the world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky.

When this blazing sun is gone,
When he nothing shines upon,
Then you show your little light,
Twinkle, twinkle, through the night.

Then the traveller in the dark
Thanks you for your tiny spark;
He could not see where to go,
If you did not twinkle so.

In the dark blue sky you keep,
And often through my curtains peep,

This is a pretty daisy, I think. What strikes me about it is the three center circles.

I think it looks like an eye, and the closer you get the more you seem to fall into the black part, like looking through a window into space. There are little white specks way inside the black center which look like little stars. (to see even closer just click photo…it’s really cool!)

A gleam in my eye

I gaze at the sky,

A yearning I can’t explain…

My souls cries out,

A silent shout,

Bereft, I wait in pain.

So far away,

The Milky Way,

This place in the vast unknown,

Someday they’ll call,

And I will fall,

Into darkness that is my home.

Into the night

I will take flight

To stars I did behold…

I dreamed to dare,

And sailed through the air…

My soul will forever unfold.
