Today’s weather report: Dust

We are having a sand storm this morning. The sky is brown with all the dust up in the sky. My phone says visibility is only 1,323 YARDS! Expecting wind gusts to 60 mph, too.

These are a couple of those pop-up type greeting cards for Mother’s Day. I saw them at the store one time and think they are really cute. One has little puppies and a sunflower, and the other has little kittens and some hearts.

The Maneki–neko (招き猫, lit. ‘beckoning cat’) is a common Japanese figurine which is often believed to bring good luck to the owner. In modern times, they are usually made of ceramic or plastic. The figurine depicts a cat, traditionally a calico Japanese Bobtail, with a paw raised in a Japanese beckoning gesture.

I love these little Maneki-Neko cats. I think this was one we saw at a restaurant one time. They are a symbol for good luck with their paw raised up. We saw them in Japan, and we see them in restaurants, and at airports.

This is a match up of two of the same number. The metal sign with 807 E. Wabash, is from the first house I ever lived in. It’s hanging on my wall, right over my clock. It just so happened I noticed the clock and the sign were in sync. It just happened that way, I didn’t set it up.

This is our blue pick-up truck. It’s a Dodge Ram, and we call it Big Blue. We’ve had it a long time, and it’s not fancy at all. It has an old cassette player slot which we never use, and it has crank style window handles to raise or lower the windows.

We don’t have another vehicle, so I’m glad this one keeps on running.
