Flower of the Day – Pussy Willow

Flower of the Day – Pussy Willow

***

Pussy Willow catkins are not a true flower, but the buds of a type of willow tree. They are an early sign of spring, and are sometimes used in religious ceremonies in place of palm branches. The fuzzy, silky buds seem to resemble the fur of kittens, and so were called Pussy Willows.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Spring – Wood

***

This time we were to find photos of signs of Spring, and also anything wood. Here we have tree branches, trunks, and bark. We also have Spring buds on the tree, and pretty blossoms. Spring also means those pretty yellow flowers known as dandelions. Then we have racks of seed packets. I love looking at all the varieties of seeds for fruits, vegetables, and flowers that can be planted in the spring. Wish I had a green thumb and could grow some. I try. 🙂

GOOD MORNING

Standard

This is ‘Weena’ …she teleports herself!

GOOD MORNING!

Happy Spring!

All is good here. Yesterday we got up to 93 degrees, and will be higher today, I think. Wish I could send y’all who are still having cold weather some of this heat!

Just a note… we are changing cable provider companies this morning. The cable guy should be here between 8 and 10, so they say. Hope it doesn’t take too long to switch over. Guess I’ll be off line for awhile, until it all gets straightened out. I’ll be back to posting soon, and also catching up with what you’ve posted.

Wishing y’all a wonderful day! 🙂 xo

SOUL SHAKING SPRING

SOUL SHAKING SPRING tornado-572504__180

Buck up Buttercup

Only the strong survive

Twistering winds, wind up in spring

Testing tender flower-lings

What devils of dust

We think they must

Swirl across fields of new greens

Sirens split the foreshadowing air

Tornados don’t care if we

Live or die

They go on by

Swallowing up spring

Making hailstones and hearty

Flooding rains…

Gully washers – toad soakers…

Sucking up all in it’s path with

It’s writhing wrath

Nature’s force five on land

Re-arranging lives willy nilly

Hopping, skipping, jumping into spring

Eating up everything

Night-time? Fraught with fear

Candles kept near, for darkness descends

While the train roars it’s sheer terror to one and all

Pick up the pieces, ye of all species, while little shoots

Poke up for clear air…brown Earth needed rain, but

Not all the pain

Of little ones Lost…

So buck up buttercup

You’re lucky you’re still here…

In this Soul Shaking Spring of the year

PROMPT NIGHT – WHEN BESOTTED WITH GREEN – “ANTICIPATION”

Standard

ANTICIPATION

Ceasing my toil of tilling the soil,

I look above to the westering skies…

Roiling, boiling, heavy hanging,

Gathering gargoyles meet my eyes.

Clutching my clothing, a certain knowing,

A storm is coming nigh.

A swipe of brow, being chilled now,

A gusty breeze blows by.

Anticipating that those snakey tendrils of

Life-giving rain

Will coil around and down to roots of tiny shoots.

Drinking their fill of the ensuing rill,

They writhe and rise for the

Greening of the land.

DANDY LION DANCE

Standard

Hello! Happy Spring!

DANDY LION DANCE

Friendly, ferny greenery

Sprouting up so merrily,

Now that Spring has sprung.

Little, laughing lions

Wave their happy signs

Dancing in the shining sun.

Daring decorations charm,

They mean to cause usth7Y4CARWB no harm,

Their scattered blooms are fun.

Their tiny puffball wishes go flying in the breeze…

Such brave little, yellow lions

To end the winter’s freeze.

SPRING

Spring

Rebirth

Of nature

You are welcome

After winter’s freeze

Awaken our senses

Refresh and replenish us

Give us warm, sunny days, again

We will rejoice and sing your praises

We revel in newfound hope of springtime.
