Spiky March Squares

***

For today’s spiky/pointy square I have cattle horns. They are pretty pointy, I think.

The first photo is of a display that was in the Dallas airport DFW, of a longhorn steer.

The second one is a giant statue of a Hereford steer at a restaurant.

Here’s a song I remember well. Both my granny and my dad used to whistle the tune to it all the time. 🙂

“Cattle Call”, was written in 1934 by Tex Owens. It was recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1944, and became his signature song.

For today’s spiky photo I have a dinosaur with big pointy teeth!

It was at an exhibit at a local Science Museum.

Spikiness for March

***

For today’s spiky post I took a picture of a garden rake we have out in the garage. I like how the shadows of the tines are on the cement floor, too.

“Garden Song”, by John Denver was recorded in 1979. It was written by David Mallett, and is on the RCA label.

I might be stretching spiky squares!

For today, I have a pretty yellow rose. Roses have thorns, of course, but I’d never noticed before that this one I grew has leaves with spiky edges.

“I Never Promised You a Rose Garden”, by Lynn Anderson, was released in 1970 from her album, “Rose Garden”. It was written by Joe South, and is on the Columbia label.

Look at this…we have another month of square photos, hosted by Becky! The topic for this time is anything spiky, pointy, jagged, sharp, serrated, and anything else we can think of that will fit.

You, too, can join in this fun photo challenge. Just click the above link to find out details.

I’ve been making a list of all things spiky, and taking photos of them, too. I want to have a song to go with them, but we’ll see if I can find enough.

Anyway, to start things off I took this photo outside of a Mexican restaurant the other day. This kind of plant we see all the time around here. Let me see if I can find out what it is…either yucca or bear grass. Being that where I live is in the semi-desert, these grow very well here. Okay, I found out they are a little bit different plants, but can be called by either name.

Then, I found this cute little song about a porcupine. They have quills that are very spiky!
