Shotgun Messiah has been a favorite band of mine for all the years since I first heard their songs. Their music is probably not to everyone’s taste, but I like it. I still have the cassette tape of the album this song is from, along with all their other albums on CD. When they all went their separate ways, the bass player/singer/songwriter, Tim Skold, became the most prominent. I have his albums, too.

Now, this song seems to be telling about a scary night while out parking in a secluded place with a date. They hear a noise, and for a moment they freeze, as in stop what they are doing to listen, and getting frightened.

You remember those Urban Legends, where something bad happens to the couple when they are out like that?

Have you ever been in a situation like this? I have. If I hear a strange noise, I freeze for a minute, too.

“Nervous”, by Shotgun Messiah, is on their early album, “Shotgun Messiah”, and was released in 1989 on the Relativity label.

Nervous Lyrics

Outta gas in the dead of night
Is it for real
Hot lust turns to stone cold fright
Say how you feelMe and my date
Down on lovers lane
Gettin’ so late
Is there something waitin’ out in the rainNervous
Tickle your spine, can’t get rid of the feelin’
You’re nervous
Freeze frame of mind ’cause you know it’s for real
And you’re nervousShut up, did you hear that sound
Is it for real
Too quiet, is there someone ’round
Say how you feelMe and my date
And we’re parked alone
Gettin’ so late
“Do you want to hear something really scary?”Nervous
Tickle your spine, can’t get rid of the feelin’
You’re nervous
Freeze frame of mind ’cause you know it’s for real
And your…
Nervous
Voices in the nite, vanish in the shadows
Have you ever heard a dream talking
Well I did, I did, I did(-Solo-)Wake me gently from this dream
Nothing’s what it seemsNervous
Tickle your spine, can’t get rid of the feelin’
You’re nervous
Freeze frame of mind ’cause you know it’s for real
And you’re…
Nervous
Tickle your spine, can’t get rid of the feelin’
Freeze frame of mind ’cause you know it’s for real
And you’re nervous

Love Is In Da Blog – Heartbreak – Day 22

https://thebeewritesdownloads.wordpress.com/2019/02/22/love-is-in-da-blog-22-my-favourite-heartbreak-song-prompt-post-for-february-23rd/

For today’s challenge, we have Bee asking for heartbreak songs. Thanks, Bee!

There are so many songs dealing with heartbreak, it’s hard to choose just one, so I chose two from this band because I like all their songs. They may not be what you’re expecting from a sad song subject, but hope you enjoy listening, even a little bit, and the lyrics are good, too.  🙂

The first one is pretty wild and loud, and so I give you a second one, which is a bit milder. Both deal with heartbreak and the loss of love from another.

“Heartbreak Blvd”, by Shotgun Messiah, appears on their album, “Second Coming”, in 1991. It was written by Tim Skold and Harry Cody, and is on the Relativity Records label.

Hey, yeah!
Huh!

Well, she’s a pretty girl
And I don’t ask for more
You know that touch of hers
Makes my heart beat like it never did before

I didn’t know that anything could be this good
She makes me do things I don’t really think I should
Like I don’t even care as long as she’s there
She makes me go much further than I normally would

Can’t you see what you’re doin’ to me
Can’t you see that you’re makin’ me bleed

Heartbreak Boulevard
Take you for a ride, mess you up inside
Heartbreak Boulevard
Comin’ on so slow, never let you go
Heartbreak Boulevard
On the wild side, love’s like suicide
Down on Heartbreak Strip

It never stays that sweet
But still you want some more
No return, no retreat
Just as hooked on the stuff as you were before

I shoulda known that losin’ you would hurt this deep
I shoulda known that happiness is not for keeps
Like I don’t even know which way to go
Leave me alone, let me die in my sleep

Can’t you see what you’re doin’ to me
Can’t you see that you’re makin’ me bleed

Heartbreak Boulevard
Take you for a ride, mess you up inside
Heartbreak Boulevard
Comin’ on so slow, never let you go
Heartbreak Boulevard
On the wild side, love’s like suicide
Down on Heartbreak Strip

Heartbreak Boulevard
T-t-t-take you for a ride, mess you up inside
Heartbreak Boulevard
Comin’ on so slow, never let you go
Heartbreak Boulevard
Take you for a ride, mess you up inside
Heartbreak Boulevard
On the wild side, Love’s like suicide
Down on Heartbreak Strip

“Living Without Your”, by Shotgun Messiah, appears on their album, “Second Coming”, in 1991. It was written by Tim Skold and Harry Cody, and is on the Relativity Records label.

***

I walk the streets alone at night
A shadow in the city light
I didn’t know that love could hurt
How little broken hearts are worth

All that we had, gone forever
Things that we said, it will never be
Living without you, don’t bother me

If there’s a tear in my eye
It’s not for you
Don’t flatter yourself
If there’s a tear in my eye
It’s not for you

We crossed our hearts and hoped to die
We swore that we would never lie
But love just slipped away somehow
Baby, it’s all over now

All that we had, gone forever
Things that we said, it will never be
Living without you, don’t bother me

If there’s a tear in my eye
It’s not for you
Don’t flatter yourself
If there’s a tear in my eye
It’s not for you

You seemed so innocent
You had me blinded
What good is all your beauty
There’s nothing behind it

If there’s a tear in my eye
It’s not for you
Don’t flatter yourself
If there’s a tear in my eye
It’s not for you

Lock the door and cut the lights
I won’t be coming home tonight

Ride the Storm – Song Lyric Sunday – Fear

Ride the Storm – Song Lyric Sunday – Fear IMG_1345

Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 8/19/18

***

It’s Sunday, and time for another SLS, with a prompt that Helen has chosen for us. Today’s word is ‘fear’. Thanks, Helen!

There’s lots of songs & lyrics that speak about fear in one way or another.

I’m not real sure what this song I’ve picked means, but there are several I think it could be referencing. There is the fear of death, the fear of losing a loved one to death, and fear of your own death and the unknown beyond.

Then, it could be about the fear of breaking up with a lover, losing a friend, or losing yourself or another to addiction to drugs of any kind.

Shotgun Messiah has been a favorite band of mine for many years. Most of their music and lyrics are heavy mental, in that they seem to have a message. Their earlier work was more lighthearted, but as they evolved, it became more thought provoking. They did eventually break up, but the lead singer, Tim Skold, went on to a solo career, after stints with Marilyn Manson, and others.

Anyway, hope you enjoy this song even if it’s a bit different.

See the skies through misty eyes
Your mind will open the door
Left behind the ties that bind
You stand and wait by the shore

Oh, you cry
You see me die every night
Oh, you fear
I’ve seen the tears in your eyes
We’re not meant to be
I’m far beyond your touch

We, we ride the storm
I’ll guide you home
When hope is gone
The night you say goodbye
The angels will cry
You’re not alone
We ride the storm

By my side, await the tide
The pain gets lost in the deep
Miss you so, it’s time to go
My soul is longing for sleep

Oh, you cry
You see me die every night
Oh, you fear
I’ve seen the tears in your eye
We’re not meant to be
I’m far beyond your touch

We, we ride the storm
I’ll guide you home
When hope is gone
The night you say goodbye
The angels will cry
You’re not alone
We ride the storm

We ride the storm
I’ll guide you home
When hope is gone
The night you say goodbye
The angels will cry
You’re not alone
We ride the storm

Nobody’s Home – Song Lyric Sunday – Lights

Nobody’s Home – Song Lyric Sunday – Lights

Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 4/8/18

***

Today for SLS Helen has challenged us to find songs with the word, ‘lights’. Thanks, Helen!

***

I wasn’t inspired by looking through the list of songs with ‘light’ or ‘lights’ in the title or lyrics. I liked a lot of the songs, but I wanted to do something different. Now, this song I chose won’t be to everyone’s taste, as it is hard rock/metal, or however it’s classified. But, I’ve always liked this band, and have all their music, either on cassette tape or CD.

***

“Nobody’s Home”, by Shotgun Messiah, can be found on their album, “Second Coming”. It was released in 1991, on the Relativity Records label, and was written by Tim Skold and Harry Cody.

“If you’d like to make a call
Please hang up and try again
If you need help
Hang up and then dial your operator”

Just another day, livin’ in a dream
Doesn’t make no difference, nothin’s what it seems
Had it up to here, gotta get away
Think I’m goin’ crazy, don’t know what I s-s-s-say

I would go insane if I had a brain

Weirdorama, psychodome
The lights are on but nobody’s home
Weirdorama, psychodome
The lights are on but nobody’s home
Nobody’s home

Majorly confused, don’t know what to feel
Soon I’m gonna lose it, nothin’ is for real

Me, I’m just like you, I don’t have a clue

Weirdorama, psychodome
The lights are on but nobody’s home
Weirdorama, psychodome
The lights are on but nobody’s home
Nobody’s home

I would go insane if I had a brain

Weirdorama, psychodome
The lights are on but nobody’s home

Weirdorama, psychodome
The lights are on but nobody’s home
Weirdorama, psychodome
The lights are on but nobody’s home
Nobody’s home

Gettin’ lovey-dovey with my semi-automatic
Trippin’ on acid and TV static
Civilization turned creature feature
The Jung at heart are going back to Nietzsche
Leave name and number after the tone
‘Cause nobody’s home
Nobody’s home
Nobody’s home!

51 WEEKS/51 SONGS FROM THE PAST

51 WEEKS/51 SONGS FROM THE PAST

51 Weeks: 51 Songs From The Past: Week 29: Murray Head – One Night In Bangkok

***

This week for the challenge, we were asked which song we like that has a dramatic intro.

Thanks, Hugh, for another interesting prompt for the challenge.

***

This song, to me, has a pretty dramatic intro. The music is deep with bass, my favorite instrument (last week’s prompt!). I’ve been a fan of this musician for a really long time. His music and lyrics are thought provoking, to say the least. You may have never heard of Tim Skold, or his former band, Shotgun Messiah, and this type of music is probably not the kind of music most people listen to, but it’s one of my favorite genres.

***

“Hail Mary”, by Tim Skold, was released from the album, “Skold”, in 1996. It was written by Tim Skold, and is on the RCA label.
