Here we have a snail. It was crawling on the side of the house.  Then there is the big spider that was in my bathroom! I usually take their picture, then scoop them up in a can or glass, and relocate them outside. Next there are turkeys. My cousin has a small farm and has lots of turkeys and all kinds of chickens. They are pretty cool to see. 🙂

SEVEN DAYS OF NATURE CHALLENGE – DAY 4

Thank you, Tildy, for inviting me to take part in the Seven Days of Nature Challenge. We are to post once every day, a photo of something from nature, for seven days. This can be birds, insects, trees, flowers, etc. To see the lovely pictures on Tildy’s blog, please visit her at The Beespeak (Life Lessons for the Beeline)  here

Today we have some birds. The seagulls were plentiful, flying all around us, as we had fun on the beach. It was on Mustang Island, which is at Port Aransas TX (by Corpus Christi, and the Gulf of Mexico). Not sure what kind they are.

The dove I took a photo of was in our garage. He stayed there for a long time. We finally had to shoo him out, so we could close the garage door.

The yellow birds (don’t know what kind they are) I photographed at Ft. Davis, TX. They had a bird watching station, with feeders all around. If you ever get a chance to visit, Ft. Davis is awesome. There is wildlife everywhere (the tarantula from yesterday), javalinas, black bears, deer, and I thought I saw a chupacabra, but probably was a wild raccoon, but it was the middle of the night and out in the courtyard of our hotel, Indian Lodge. The hummingbirds are really cool to watch up close, too! 🙂

SEVEN DAYS OF NATURE CHALLENGE – DAY 2

This will be my 2nd day to post for this challenge. I was invited by Tildy, at The Beespeak (Life Lessons from the Beeline),  https://thebeespeak.wordpress.com/2016/04/12/nature-walk-redbud/ to join in, by posting a photo a day, for seven days. The photo can be wildlife, birds, insects, flowers, trees, or anything that is considered nature.

It would be my pleasure to invite anyone who wants to, to join in the challenge. 🙂

My photos today are a couple I took at different times in the past. The praying mantis looked like he was enjoying his photo session. In fact he kept posing and didn’t want to leave! …The spider, I saw one early morning as I was going to take a picture of the sunrise. He/she? was dangling from the eave of the house on a thread of web. He wasn’t opposed to getting his picture taken, either. 🙂

SEVEN DAYS OF NATURE CHALLENGE

SEVEN DAYS OF NATURE CHALLENGE

I was invited to participate in the Seven Days of Nature Challenge, recently, by Tildy1 at The Beespeak (Life Lessons from the Beeline)  https://thebeespeak.wordpress.com/2016/04/12/nature-walk-redbud/

What we do, is post a photo of something in nature…one a day, for seven days. It can be any wildlife, birds, trees, flowers, insects, or whatever you find out in nature.

This will be my day # 1 🙂

~

These photos were taken a little while ago, out our back door. We live right by a playa lake, so we get all kinds of birds coming and going all year. This is, I believe, a Little Blue Heron. We see these wading in the water every day, and sometimes flying over the house, but this one it seems, wanted to perch on the chimney of the house across the way. I just happened to see it, and snapped a few photos.

The bird identifier book says Little Blue Herons stand about 24″, and are numerous in wetlands. They look bigger to me, and seem very graceful.

Here’s the photos, and the books I use to identify birds and insects.
