Here’s a poem I wrote back in 2017, using titles of some books I have.

These are fun to do, as there are tons of combinations you can make, for ideas of poems.

THE STRANGER

I’m Looking Through You

You Don’t Look Like Anyone I Know

I’m a Stranger Here Myself

It’s Sunday, and time again for SLS! Helen has given us the prompt word, “lost”. Thanks, Helen!

This is the first song I thought of for the prompt. I always really liked it!

“Lost in the Fifties Tonight ( In the Still of the Night)”, by Ronnie Milsap, was released in 1985, from his album, “Greatest hits Vo. 2”. It was written by Mike Reid, Troy Seals, and Fred Parris, and is on the RCA label.

This is partially a cover of Fred Parris and the Satins original song, “In the Still of the Night”, which was written by Fred Parris, and released in 1956 on the Standord, Ember labels.

Boyz to Men also made an A Cappella recording of this song, which was very good, also.

I remember one time we were at a restaurant, and in a hallway were some guys singing this song I guess just for fun, but we stayed and listened to them. They were fabulous singers!

Lost in the fifties tonight (In the Still Of the Night)
Ronnie Milsap

– #1 in 1985 in country charts
– Part of the song is exactly like the “In the Still Of the Night”
Done by The Five Satins but only because he’s remembering how they used
To dance to these old tunes and he added some extra words to describe
These olden days, making a “medley” more or less.

Close your eyes, Baby
Follow my heart
Call on the memories
Here in the dark
We’ll let the magic
Take us away
Back to the feelings
We shared when they played

In the still of the night
Hold me darlin, hold me tight
So real, so right
Lost in the fifties tonight

These precious hours
We know can’t survive
But loves all that matters
While the past is alive
Now and for always
Till time disappears
We’ll hold each other
Whenever we hear

In the still of the night
Hold me darlin, hold me tight
So real, so right
Lost in the fifties tonight

In the still of the night
I held you
Held you tight
‘Cause I love
Love you so
Promise i’ll never
Let you go
In the still of the night

I remember
That night in May
The stars were bright above
I’ll hope and I’ll pray
To keep
Your precious love
Well before the light
Hold me again
With all of your might
In the still of the night

So before the light
Hold me again
With all of your might
In the still of the night
In the still of the night
