Nonsense – Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Lid

Nonsense – Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Lid

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “lid.” Use it in the literal sense, use it in the metaphorical sense, use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

So, today for SOCS we have the word or partial word ‘lid’. Thanks, Linda!

I only know a few things about a lid, such as the cover on a cooking pot, a sealing top of a jar of food, and I think it’s a measurement of some kind of drugs?

It’s always hard to get the lid off of a jar. I’ve strained my hand trying to unscrew the thing. I can sometimes stick a pointed kind of spoon under the edge and lever it so it pops the seal. Then you can open it easily. If all else fails, I call in the Mr. to give a strong hand at it. That usually always works.

Let’s see what else … some nonsense maybe?

Well, I’d thought of something, and now it’s gone … hang on a minute.

I have a lid that was not hid

There was a lide that tried to hide?

I tried and tried but off it flied?

Nope … not working!

I bid on a lid, but off it slid

A bird flied up … no … that would be flew

It doesn’t rhyme, and I never lied – subtract the e so you get lid?

I think I better end this now.

Have a fun weekend! 🙂

Stream of Consciousness Saturday – ode

Stream of Consciousness Saturday – ode

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “ode.” Find a one- or two-syllable word that rhymes with “ode,” or use the word “ode.” Have fun!

An ode to the toad with the node

A toad sings an ode to his node

The node is embarrassed and falls off.

Okay, think of something else …

My abode has a lodestone inside

But I need to solve the code to enter

And I’ve forgotten the numbers

There once was a store called Mode

It sold second-hand clothes for an ode

But I’ve got a tin ear so was out of luck

And that’s all I’ve got for today … Hope your weekend is fun!

Jump rope jingles

Recited in rhyme

One, two, three,

Will you be mine?

Double Dutch fun,

Then over-head

Hot pepper is fast,

Your face turns red

Chanted in cadence

To keep up the pace

Trip over your feet,

And lose your place.

for dVerse Poets – Quadrille # 35 – Pepper … use the word pepper in your poem of 44 words.

Quadrille #35

Thanks for the prompt, Kim!
