Mystery Box Chickens say, “Rags to Riches – Chickens are Cool.”

The evolution of a rag…

You know, where do we get the rags that we use to wipe up stuff, or polish things? How do the fabrics eventually turn into a rag?

We all have them – we all need them.

But where do they come from?

Sure, there are specialized rags you can purchase for certain jobs. There are those usually red, square rags called shop rags. There are terry cloth wash rags, or maybe you call them wash cloths, and you also have the ones for the dishes, called dish rags.

But what happens when these become worn from so much use? Do you just throw them out, or do you re-purpose them for the dirtier jobs you have around the house?

One time I heard that well-worn rags were a good extra wedding gift. That’s because most everything a couple receive for gifts are brand new, and they probably won’t want to use the pretty ones for a really messy clean-up job. It takes awhile to use the new ones so much that they become tattered and raggedy rags. So, a bundle of already broken in rags might be a thoughtful gift. Kind of unusual, but very useful.

Some things you may have will make good rags. These include old T-shirts cut into squares, old towels that have seen better days, and no longer needed cloth diapers all make great rags.

Anyway, here’s some of my rags, showing different ones and how they progress from sort of new to the oldest raggedy rags.
