Daily Prompt – JusJoJan the 7th, 2020

***

Your word of the day was selected by John at The Sound of One Hand Typing. Thanks, John!

Your prompt for JusJoJan January 7th, 2020, is “mix.” Use the word “mix” any way you’d like. Enjoy!

***

And now for the mixed up questions and my silly answers:

***

  1. It’s obvious what baked beans and baked potatoes are. But what is a baked Alaska?

Baked Alaska is the result of a topsy-turvy world climate, where Alaska is hot in the winter time instead of cold.

  1. What is a TLA?

A TLA is … an abbreviation for The Long Answer – but I’m only giving a ‘short’ answer here.

  1. What was boombangabang?

That’s the sound made when the wind up monkey boombangabangs his cymbols together.

  1. How would you describe a cornice?

A winning ear of corn at the agricultural fair. It was really nice looking.

  1. Who will be on the back of the new £20 note when it comes into circulation in February?

We don’t have those here, so I have no idea for real, but maybe a Corgi dog? They are so cute.

  1. Where will you be able to buy sky hooks?

Sky hooks can be bought on the ‘Cloud’. It is used to hook all your online doings into one place.

  1. If two’s company and three’s a crowd, what’s four?

This would make it a foursome for a golf game.

  1. Why are squares on a checkers board alternately black and white?

Trick question! They are black and red, and it’s because it’s the colors of our local University.

  1. What happens to all the holes cut out of ring doughnuts?

I eat them.

  1. Why did the rabbit go up the hole, round the tree (right to left) and back down the hole?

Because he got sucked in by a Google search – there’s no way to get out of the rabbit hole & it drives you crazy.

It’s time again for SYW questions from Melanie, and answers from me!

Join in, and also see other entries by clicking the above link. It’s fun! 🙂

***

The questions:

Do dogs ‘talk’ (communicate) with their own species?

Sure they do. I know when listening to the dogs in the neighborhood, one will start ‘barking/saying’ something, and others will chime in with their own thoughts about what’s happening. They communicate with us, too. Be still and quiet, open your mind to whatever message you get when you are with your dog (or cat). It’s strange, but true.

Have you ever had to work on Christmas Day?

No, I never had to work on Christmas Day, except here at home.

If someone gifts you something that you immediately loathe, do you pretend to really like it anyway or are you brutally honest about your opinion?

I thank the person for the gift. Why would you want to hurt someone’s feelings by disparaging a gift given with good intentions.

Which popular drink, found during the Christmas season most often, is called “milk punch?”

I’d say it is eggnog because it’s made with milk. I’ve read some others that say there is a difference, though.

How many ghosts show up during “A Christmas Carol?”

I always thought there were three – past/present/future, but some say there were four. I never read that book, but I might have seen the movie long ago.

Are you all about the holly and jolly or more about remembering the alleged ‘true’ meaning of Christmas?

I’d say I’m a little of both. I do like the fun and the decorations and gifts, but also remember why we are celebrating according to some religious traditions.

Please share a memory or thought about the holiday season if you’d like, whatever kind of celebration you may observe.

Since I’ve already wrote quite a few Christmas Memory posts, which you can find elsewhere on here, and since it is past Christmas, I hope your holiday season was and is a good one.

Happy New Year! 🙂

Question # 3 – How did my blog get started?

I’d started out my blog over on Blogger (Blog Spot) and was there for a year or so. Then, as I almost never got any kind of response, it was suggested to me that I move over to Word Press. I’m so happy I did. I still have my other blog, and all my posts are still there, but I’ve not written on it in a long time, and am slowly transferring all the posts to Word Press.

Mostly I just wanted to post my fan fiction story for people to read. (Two Souls: Into the Fire).  I also took part in the A to Z Blog Challenge and posted all those there. Now that I’ve moved here on WP, I am happy to say that the community of bloggers I’ve met is fantastic. The interaction with likes and comments, and getting to know a bit about my fellow bloggers can’t be beat. 🙂

Question # 4 – Give some advice to new bloggers.

Write and post whatever you want to. Don’t worry whether anyone will like what you write. It’s true some will read and like, others will pass on by, but that happens to everyone. Don’t worry if your blogging starts off slow. The more you blog, the more you interact with other bloggers by reading, liking, and commenting on their blogs, the more they will come see what yours is all about. It’s pretty much a mutual back and forth kind of deal. Mostly just have fun, try different things, and don’t give up your writing adventure. 🙂

And now, for # 5 – Nominate others …

I usually don’t do personal nominations, as I feel every blogger works hard at maintaining their blog, and all deserve to be recognized. If you’d enjoy adding this award to your blog please feel free to do so. 🙂

The questions:

f you had to sum up the whole human species in 3 words, what would those words be?

Where is the strangest place you’ve relieved yourself?  Obviously in an emergency situation.

What is the worst smelling place you’ve ever been?

How drunk is drunk enough?

***

My answers:

  1. We will survive
  2. On the street by the courthouse – during the F-5 Tornado … I was already soaked from the rain. Or… in the grassy median between four lanes of cars whizzing (hah) by. Our car broke down and well, when you gotta go you gotta go. Or … at the grand opening of the first Wal-mart in our town – in the dressing room – in the trash can (well it was pouring down rain that day, so I could say the roof leaked – haha)
  3. In the vicinity of the litter box (at times)
  4. Any drunk is too drunk – not a fan of drunk

***

What makes you laugh?

Things that make me laugh are: my family, silly things I hear people say, misprint bloopers, odd headlines, cat antics

What’s the world coming to?  (Credit to Mel of Crushed Caramel…)

I don’t know, but it will keep on turning

In one sentence sum up the Internet.

The internet is a place to learn new things, make new acquaintances, and have fun with.

If over time you replace parts on a car, at what point does it stop being the same car you bought? How many parts do you need to replace to make it a new car?

At some point you need to stop replacing parts, and just get a whole new car.

Gratitude is an attitude.   Yea or nay?   Explain your viewpoint please!

I think gratitude is an attitude, so my answer is yes. Some people most always look on the bright side no matter what happens, and others are just not happy with anything …and they enjoy being downers trying to bring everyone else down with them.

***

Here’s the questions Rory has asked:

***

If you could do something a bit naughty every day and not get caught, what would you do?

Well, I’m not usually a person who does naughty things, so let me think on this a bit. Okay, maybe go into an office supply store and pop all the bubble wrap.

Do you have any unusual party tricks?

Another hard question, because I don’t go to parties, and barely ever did in the past. I do nothing special that I know of.  … OR … blend into the woodwork so no one sees me. That way I don’t have to talk to anyone, and can just listen to them, gathering all kinds of information. heh heh I am a Ghost in the wall.

Can you name 5 things you can do with hot wax that you shouldn’t but the naughty wicked you would love to do!

I don’t do naughty things, with wax or any other thing. I light a candle now and again, but try not to get the wax on anything. There are a lot of art projects you can do with wax, but they aren’t naughty.

What is the theory of what is not the theory of what is?

My theory is this question has no meaning.

Can you guess the answer to my 11th question yet?

I’m a bit of a mind reader, but I have no idea what the 11th question is, since this challenge only goes up to 5 questions.

***

I do not nominate any specific bloggers on any awards I’m presented with. I believe every blogger works hard to bring such informative and entertaining posts for us to read, that everyone deserves to be awarded. Whether by accepting blogging awards, visiting other’s blogs, commenting, and liking, and making blogging friends, you are all special! Feel free to accept this award/gift if you want to!

***

Here are 5 questions I made up, if you want to answer them. 🙂

  1. Do you think antiques are haunted?
  2. What is your favorite number, and why?
  3. Do you have a lucky talisman or mantra – what is it?
  4. Do you think this life is actually a dream you’re having, and everyone you meet and everything you encounter are just characters/situations you’ve made up?
  5. Are you superstitious about anything?
