What are five [in your eyes only] top quality Adventure films?

Here are some movies I’ve enjoyed watching, just because they have actors I like in them, or have a funny story.

Cast Away …  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cast_Away

Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure … https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_%26_Ted%27s_Excellent_Adventure

African Queen … https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_African_Queen_%28film%29

The Goonies … https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Goonies

Adventures in Babysitting … https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventures_in_Babysitting

[Please provide links and say why you think they are]

What would be your ideal Adventure [not holiday – Adventure]

Going Geochaching in different places. I’ve only done one here in town, and it was fun to find.

If you were planning your Adventure of a Lifetime which is the best season for you to go?

In the Fall/Autumn would be the best time to go, because winter is too cold and summer is too hot.

What kind of activities do you enjoy doing and what would you never do?

My kind of activities are going to yard sales…a great weekend adventure!

I’d never do anything that included sports or physical trials.

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year out of the answers below, where would you choose?

In a Castle – too big and cold

Under the Sea – too fishy

In a Forest – 🙂 🙂 Just right!

In a Dungeon – too dangerous

On an Alien Planet – I already do live on an alien planet (my home is in the stars)

On the side of an Active Volcano – too hot

What are three great adventure quotes?

One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure. ~ William Feather

It is like a voyage of discovery into unknown lands, seeking not for new territory but for new knowledge. It should appeal to those with a good sense of adventure. ~  Frederick Sanger

Instead of trying to make your life perfect, give yourself the freedom to make it an adventure, and go ever upward. ~ Drew Houston

America is named after? Amy, Mary & Erica

Who reached North America first out of the following people’s?

Spanish, British, Vikings, Portuguese – The aliens from other worlds…they left monuments and crop circles

What was Christopher Columbus’s aim of  his second voyage to the New world? – It was Groundhog day – he was doomed to do it over.

What happened to the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan? – No one could spell it right, so they changed it to Our Capital Town – OTC

What was the most exciting Adventure you have ever been on? – Moving to Japan & Germany

Where in the world have you had the most fun exploring as an adult? – Flea Markets, Thrift Stores, Yard Sales

When in Rome, one does as the Roman’s do, however When on a Sandy Beach,  one does ……….. ? – Look for pretty shells

Whilst out and about exploring on an adventure, what is the most scariest thing that has happened to you? – Getting teleported to a completely different place in the blink of an eye, It wasn’t really scary – just strange.

Of the following choices which would you prefer to explore?

A sunken city – There are probably fish involved, so No!

A lost city – If it’s lost, how would I be there to explore it? But, I’d choose this one I suppose. I could look for ghosts.

A forgotten city – Same as if it was lost

An uninhabited island – If it is uninhabited then I wouldn’t be there either, otherwise it would be habited?

Why did you pick your option above, what appealed? – I was thinking of abandoned towns, and the lost spirits and ghosts of all the former citizens.

Would you rather swim with sharks or dolphins? – Neither…they live in the sea – with fish!!! No way!!!

What’s the worst piece of travel advice you have ever received? – Pack light … no such thing for me, and I can cram a lot of stuff into one suitcase, believe me!

What’s the best piece of travel advice you have ever received? – Can’t remember any

What is on the top of your bucket list? – Don’t have one

Best musical track you can think of for each of the following: exploration, adventuring or travelling? [Please provide links]

Me & You & a Dog Named Boo

“Me and You and a Dog Named Boo”, by Lobo, was released in 1971, as a single from his album, “Introducing Lobo”. It is on the Big Tree label, and was written by Roland Kent LaVoie, which is his real name. Lobo is his stage name.

***

Is it better to suspect something (bad or hurtful) and not know or to have your worst fears confirmed by sure knowledge?

Better to know the answer to whatever it is, than waste time suspecting and worrying about it. Just tell me and get it over with.

What makes you laugh aloud?   Crack up?   Laugh until your sides split?   When was the last time you had a great big belly laugh?

Listening to what my grand-kids say about things. They are so sure about their opinions, which may be right, but the way they say it is so funny.

Do you suppose Noah had woodpeckers in the ark?  If he did, where did he keep them?   Apologies to the Darwinians in the crowd…this is merely for fun, okay?

Yep, if he didn’t we wouldn’t have woodpeckers in the world today. They just flew around in the ark, mingling with all the other animals. All creatures were well behaved in those days, and caused no trouble. (heh heh)

Why is “Charlie” short for “Charles when they are the same number of letters?

Because it is a cute name for a little kid, and then when he gets older, he can then use the grown-up version of his name.

Thankful, Joyful, Grateful

What  happened in your world this past week that made you feel thankful, joyful or grateful?

That we had a huge storm last night, but no windows were broken out by the hail.

Three things about myself:

  1. I volunteered working in libraries while I was in Jr. High and High School, and later at my kid’s school. I got a lot of experience of all kinds of tasks that go on in libraries, such as checking out books, classifying books, getting them ready for the shelf, shelving books, etc. Yet, when I later on applied for a paying job doing the same things, I didn’t get hired.
  2. I’m not really superstitious, but I will knock wood three times in certain circumstances, just in case.
  3. I had a really cool snake ring when I was a kid, but I lost it at a lake. I still miss it. I also lost a neat puzzle ring at the airport in Yakota AFB in Japan. I like rings, but hardly ever wear them… I just like all the strange and weird ones best, so every time I see one, I buy it.

***

Question I was given to answer by Suze:

  1. you look in your fridge and see the following: two eggs, a bag of fresh spinach, a jar of jelly, pickles (sweet not dill) a rasher of bacon and some French dressing. What do you do for dinner?

I’d make scrambled eggs & bacon, have the spinach and French dressing for a salad, and a spoonful of jelly for dessert. You can keep the pickle.

  1. Give me your best answer (screw modesty) to “why were you nominated?”

Because you like me…you really like me! And, you know I can’t resist doing these award things.

  1.  If you were stuck writing non-fiction for the rest of your bloggery term..what subject would you write about?

Aliens, UFOs, Ghosts, all weird things…because they are real and true.

  1.  Yes or no, and why or why not??? aren’t these the BEST questions EVER?

Yes! I think these questions are some of the best I’ve seen, because they are fun and not too deep and thought provoking. I tend to skip those kind.

  1. If you could rename your blog, what would you name it?

My Weird World

***

My favorite posts are – all of them If I didn’t like them I wouldn’t post them. Take your pick out of all the variety on here.

***

So, I’m leaving this award open to any of you that want to take part. Grab the banner, answer some questions, and have fun with it!

You can answer the same questions Suze gave me, or here’s a few more suggestions:

  • what’s your fairy tale name? (favorite color, favorite flower/favorite fantasy character)
  • look to your right … what do you see?
  • you can only spend $10 (ten dollars) for a gift for someone = where do you go, and what do you buy
  • You travel to a galaxy far far away…what do you find there?

  1. What social stigma does society need to get over already?

All of them, and the list is long.

What was the last photo you took?

The last photo on my phone was of the red rose from my neighbor’s rose bush. The one before that was of my mother’s day gift from my daughter & family…2 books (‘Vampire Haiku’, and ‘How to Tell if Your Cat is Plotting to Kill You’), and the cute cards they sent.

  1. When was the last time you snooped and found something or found out something you wish you hadn’t?

I’m always snooping around. I don’t know that I found anything I wished I hadn’t found. Just interesting stuff. Mostly my own stuff, like in my closets or drawers that I forgot I had.

  1. What’s the most comfortable bed or chair you’ve ever slept in?

I can almost never get comfortable, but if I sit in a recliner chair, I’ll probably go to sleep. We had a waterbed for a long time. That was probably the most comfortable.

  1. Do you believe in soul mates? If so, do you think there is only one person meant to share that bond with you, out there in the world?  (credit to Cyranny of Cyranny’s Cove)

Only in fiction. You meet someone, fall in love, and that’s great. If it was meant to be, it was meant to be, but you shouldn’t hold out for finding some person you may never meet, just in case. Enjoy your time with your loved one now.

  1. Ice cream cone, shake or other ice cream concoction?

I’m not much for ice cream, but yeah, I’ll eat it. I’d rather have a vanilla milkshake.

  1. What would be the hat to end all hats? What could you wear on your head that would make people stop what they are doing and stare in awe and amazement?

A kitty cat. A real cat that would sit on your head like a hat. You and your cat would be the talk of the town, and rake in tons of compliments. =^..^= meow!

  1. What would be the worst “buy one get one free” sale of all time?

Well, lots of stuff…fish for one, but I’d never buy one in the first place. I don’t like fish in a bowl, I don’t like them in a lake, I don’t like them cooked or on a plate … I don’t like fish anywhere … I don’t like  fish … hate hate hate.

  1. If you could interview anyone from your life living or dead, but not a celebrity, who would it be and why?

I’d like to interview both sets of grand-parents to hear more of their stories of the days of their lives. I’d ask more questions, and write down what they say. I never even thought about doing that when they were here.

  1. As a child, did you have a nickname?  Did you carry that with you throughout life or was it only in childhood that you used it?

I didn’t really have a nick name when I was a kid. Later on, one friend would shorten my name to Barb, and lots of us would think up cool names to call ourselves, especially when writing notes to each other. Mine were Chelsea, and Hullaballoo. haha!

  1. Give us three words that describe you:

Peace – Love – Groovy

  1. Sneaking into a second movie at the theater (if you go to a movie house)?  Is that wrong or just harmless ‘fun’?

I’ve never even thought about sneaking into a second movie viewing. I was already grown up when they made movie theaters with more than one screen, and by then I wouldn’t have wanted to, anyway. After one movie, I’d be ready to go home.

  1. If you had a time machine would you go back to the past or forward into the future?  Why?

My blog is my time machine. I travel all the time to the past in words and photos, and to the future with some of my writing. It’s fun!

  1. Was the last thing you read digital or print?

I read blogs all day on my computer. Then, I read an actual printed book during meals, and at bedtime. So, blogs, and the book I’m re-reading now is “Morning Glory” by Gloria Hawker … about her UFO experiences.

  1. Are you more an extrovert or introvert?

Introvert, for all the descriptions there are of that. I’m okay with peopling for a little bit, but after awhile, I have to be by myself.

  1. How is your life different from what you imagined as a younger person?

No different. I always dreamed of writing and reading all day, because I love to. For awhile jobs and school took up a lot of time, but now, that is what I can do all day – write and read. 🙂

  1. Do you think about dying?   Does death scare you?  Why or why not?

Sometimes, but try not to dwell on it. I don’t want anything horrendous or tragic to end it all, but it will be nice to see all those people and animals that have gone before me, again, which I believe I will. Maybe I’ll be an actual ghost, and stay around awhile longer …who knows?

GRATITUDE:

I found this interesting challenge and did it myself.  I’m offering these questions as a gratitude challenge for those who care to do it.    You can answer in text or photo.

A photo of someone that makes me happy: Cricket! ❤

(courtesy of https://ididnthavemyglasseson.com/2019/04/20/find-something/)

Additional Gratitude Bonus Question:  Who has been the kindest to you in your life?

My family has been the kindest to me in my life.

Thanks so  much for hosting SYW, Melanie! 🙂

Q & A

  1. Guns?   Are you pro or con?  Explain your point of view.

Both pro and con. I don’t want bad people to have them, but think a person should have one for protection in their own home. Also, here in TX we have the open carry and concealed carry gun laws, but you have to have the correct training and licenses.

  1. How would your country change if everyone, regardless of age, could vote?

It would turn into a mess. Probably, if there became a call in vote, it would be like those silly people voting on the singing contests on TV. But really, I don’t think voting counts for anything. It’s just window-dressing to appease the population, who think their vote will have any effect.  Whatever the elite has pre-decided, will be who will win.

  1. What’s your cure for hiccups?

Drink some water…they’ll go away in a little bit.

  1. What’s the coldest you’ve ever been?

When I’m sick and having chills. The heater can be on, and I have wrapped up good, but I’m still freezing.

Q & A

  1. What does a successful relationship look like to you?

One where the parties involved are respectful of the other one/ones. You can have different opinions about things, but try not to bludgeon the other one by always insisting yours is the only right opinion. Keeping a sense of humor is always important, too.

  1. If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning medal for?

Pet whispering. I’ve always been in tune with animals, and at times think I can even read their minds…or at least their signals of body language. So, yeah…I’d be the winner at pet whispering.

  1. What do you wish you knew more about?

Conspiracy theories. I always want to know more, such as if there’s really any truth to whatever it is, how those supposed experts know what they’re talking about, how did the rumor or conspiracy get started, and on and on…I want to know more.

  1. What is better in your opinion – asking for forgiveness or permission?

Asking for permission would be my first action. Then, I might go ahead with my plans anyway, asking forgiveness if it all turned out bad.
