Time for another SYW with questions from Cee, and answers from me! Why don’t you join in the fun. Click link above for details. 🙂

List 2 things you have to be happy about?

My doctor appointment today is over. All was good.

It’s been cold here, but sunny. Barely any snow this year so far. Yay!

Have you ever owned a rock, pet rock, or gem that is not jewelry?

Yes, I make my own painted rocks for all occasions. I also have lots of crystals and stones that have different meanings and properties to them.

Are you a hugger or a non-hugger?

Definitely a hugger.

Complete this sentence: I’m looking forward to….

Lunch, and more blogging and reading. Maybe I’ll do some scrap booking (I say this every day, and sometimes I actually do it)

What is your favorite comfort snack food?

Donuts of all kinds

What was one of your first moneymaking jobs (other than babysitting or newspaper delivery)?

Selling hand decorated soaps to the neighbors

Do you prefer a bath or shower?

Shower, but would like one of those walk-in bath tubs.

What do you do to make a living or during the day? If you are retired what mostly occupies your day? Or if you are a student what are you studying?

Write, blog, read, art

Is there a stuffed animal in your bedroom?

What one word describes you best?

Spacey.

So, I was looking up the definitions of spacey, and every one of them sounds like me. They are: spaced out, daydreamer, eccentric, unconventional, flighty, irresponsible, not in touch with reality, confused, unable to concentrate, vague, dreamy, strange, eerie…

Even my first name means ‘strange or a stranger’… foreign or strange…traveler from a foreign land…

My family would agree, and add ‘alien’, as in from outer space, and have said so many times. They laugh and ask when my ET ‘real’ family are coming to take me back to my home planet.

I’m not kidding!

What is set as the background on your computer?

I don’t think I have one since my computer messed up awhile back. In fact, I’m having to go through my mister’s side of the internet thingy, because it won’t even let me on anymore. I think his is a beach scene or something. I used to have a pretty one of a dirt path through the green woods, with tall trees.

If you have been to a foreign country name those you have been too?

Yes, I’ve been to some, and lived for awhile in a couple. We traveled around because of the Army, so got to see lots of different places. We lived a year or so in Germany, and a couple of years in Japan. I’ve also been to these countries: Mexico, Ireland, England, France

What caring thing are you going to do for yourself today?

I do pretty much the same things every day – whatever I want to.

List at least five of your favorite spices? (excluding salt and pepper)

Cinnamon, Cumin, Cilantro, Sage, Vanilla (is that a spice?), cloves, nutmeg

What can you always be found with?

I always have my iphone so I can take photos at any time, and get text notices from my daughters.

Time for another SYW with questions from Cee, and answers from me!

Also, Suze has asked some questions, too, for this week! Thanks, Suze!

Follow the 2 links to find their answers. 🙂

***

Cee’s Questions:

If you could hire someone to help you, would it be with cleaning, cooking, or yard work?

It would be cleaning. I hate cleaning. I don’t mind cooking at all, and I never do yard work, anyway.

If you were to move and your home came fully furnished with everything you ever wanted, list at least three things from your old house you wish to retain?

Do you mean like furniture? I’d take the hutch my uncle built way back in the 40s or 50s. It was made for my grandma, and now I have it. I just have books in it now. I’d take my old desk I’ve used since my school days. It has a fold down door, and shelves. I’d also take my antique dresser that used to belong to my in-laws. Every other furniture piece we have is old and raggedy and nowhere near an antique, so I wouldn’t want them. Of course I’d take all my photos, writing notebooks, scrapbooks, computer, and things like that.

What calms you down?

I’m pretty calm most of the time. Hardly anything gets me riled up. Coffee calms me down, and has always been that way. Playing and petting my cat calms me down. Good old fashioned hugs calm me down. Sharing a quiet moment, as I look into my grand-kids eyes, and they in mine, calms me down and is wonderful.

Suze’s Questions:

http://suziland.net/2017/12/share-world-december-18-2017/

  • What really makes you laugh?

Being silly with my family, and the re-telling of funny stories we share. … Bloopers and misprints in just about anything gets me laughing, too.

  • What combination of toppings makes your perfect pizza?

Pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, lots of cheese, and not too much tomato sauce.

  • What is the most thoughtful gift you’ve ever received?

So many different things for different occasions, I couldn’t even begin to list them.

  • If you could travel back and live in any period of time, when would it be?

I wouldn’t want to go very far back. People way back had it rough, with no kind of conveniences, no medicines to cure diseases, horrendous  wars, and so much more strife. I’d just go back to my teenage years, I guess, since I had a lot of fun, and if I could still be me as I am, and having my whole family like it is now. That would be weird I know.

Christmas Special 2017 # 4

“When does it begin to feel like Christmas to you?”

It doesn’t seem to be the Christmas season until I hear the song, “Feliz Navidad” by Jose Feliciano.

It has to be randomly heard, like on the radio or at a store from the music they play. Sure, I can listen to this song any time I want, but it has to be random in this case.

Sometimes it’s early on, other times very late when I first hear it.

Would you prefer a reading nook or an art, craft, photography studio?

For me, I’d like an art, craft, and photography studio. That could be just a room for all my stuff, so I could leave it out, and get to it whenever I wanted to. I don’t have to have a special reading place, as I can read anywhere and any time, with no problem.

Tell how you are feeling today in the form of a weather report. (For example, partly cloudy, sunny with a chance for showers, etc.)

Hazy morning hours, turning to mid-afternoon doldrums. Early evening turning brighter, as the moon and stars begin to shine.

If you could witness or physically attend any event past, present or future, what would it be?

For the past, I would have liked being there when they discovered King Tut’s tomb, his mummy, and all the riches that were entombed with him (except for the curse that was put upon those that were there).  I’ve always been interested in Egyptology. For the future, it would be amazing to be there when it becomes possible to teleport yourself to anywhere and any time period, just by thinking of it. For the present, I’m just happy to be here. 🙂

If you were having difficulty on an important test and could safely cheat by looking at someone else’s paper, would you do so?

I probably wouldn’t cheat by looking at the answers someone else put on their test paper. They might have the wrong answer, and then so would you. I’d rather take a guess on the question, and make my own mistakes, or maybe even get it right.

What things in nature do you find most beautiful?

All of nature is beautiful to me. To name a few: outer space, stars, moon, planets … forests, woods, trees … mountains … deserts … and all animals, from the smallest to the largest, are beautiful in their own way. (for me the exceptions would be fish, ticks & fleas, mosquitoes, cockroaches)

Complete this sentence: When I travel I love to….

When I travel, I would like to stop at all the yard sales I see. I’d like to see all the quirky little roadside attractions, too. This won’t happen, though. That’s if we travel by car. If we are flying I’d like to get there with no delays in the airports! Also, when I travel, I love to watch all the people. I can see some pretty strange things happening sometimes. 🙂

A BOOK LOVER’S TAG

******

Questions for Book Lovers

1.  Do you have a specific place for reading?
2.  Bookmark or random piece of paper.
3.  Do you eat or drink whilst reading?
4.  Music or TV while reading?
5.  One book at a time or several?
6.  Do you prefer to read at home or elsewhere?
7.  Read out loud or silently?
8.  Do you read ahead or skip pages?
9.  Break the spine or keep it new?
10.  Do you write in books?
11.  What books are you reading now?
12.  What is your childhoods favourite book?
13.  What is your all-time favourite book and why do you love it?

***

My answers:

  1. I don’t have a specific place, as I can read anywhere. Mostly though, it would be in the living room or bedroom.
  2. Bookmarks. I have a lot of them, but can’t find them all the time, because I leave them in books, and I find them later. I usually just leave the book turned face down at whatever place I stopped at.
  3. Yes, I eat and drink while reading.
  4. If it’s daytime when I’m reading at home, the TV is usually on. If at night, it’s all quiet.
  5. At the moment it is one at a time, but usually I have several I’ve started. Each room will have a different one I can just pick up and read while in there.
  6. I’d rather read at home, but usually take a book, or ebook with me, so I can read when I’m somewhere that I have to be waiting.
  7. Silent, unless I’m reading to my grand-daughter.
  8. Sometimes I skip pages, if the part gets too long with descriptions, or is at a boring part. I like getting right to the action, and conversations best.
  9. If I own the book, I will break the spine first thing. I like the book to lay flat. It’s annoying to have to read in the center ditch.
  10. No, I don’t think I’ve ever written in a book. I will write in game type books, such as crosswords, jumbles, and pencil puzzle books. That’s all.
  11. I’m re-reading quite a lot of books about emotionally disturbed children, by the teachers, therapists, and parents that have helped them. The actual one I’m reading now, and almost finished with is, “A Child Called Noah”, by Josh Greenfeld.
  12. I’ve always loved books and reading, and we went to the library regularly when I was a kid. One book of my own, that I loved and memorized before I could even read was, “The Three Billy Goats Gruff”. In fact, I still have that original book.
  13. My all time favorite book? That’s hard to answer, as each one I read is my favorite at the time. I’d say my favorite by far is, “Lost Souls”, by Poppy Z. Brite. It’s a paranormal, horror novel about vampires. The characters are unforgettable. I base my ‘fan fiction’ story series, on my blog, on this book. I’ve read it many times since it first came out in 1992. Another favorite book is, “The Survival of Jan Little”, by John Man. It is about a woman who is blind, living in the Amazon jungle. I’ve read this one at least once a year, for many years.
