Share Your World – December 11, 2017 – Repeat of Last Week

Cee, the captain of Share Your World, has been having internet problems, so this is a repeat of the last week’s questions.

As I was also having computer problems, I didn’t get to answer them at the time, so here they are now!

Also, below these questions are more questions, provided by Laura, at ‘Riddle From the Middle’.

Here’s her blog with the questions she posed for this week:

Share Your World 12/11/17

Thanks, Laura!

Hope your internet problems are resolved soon, Cee!

What household chore do you absolutely hate doing?

Floors! I don’t like anything to do with floors if you mean in the way of cleaning them. I like that we can walk on them. That’s about it.

At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?

?? Don’t know what to say about this one. I’m happy to find out I’m still alive when I wake up in the morning.

How many times have you moved in the last ten years?

This is funny to me! If you’re wanting to know how many times we moved into different houses, I’d say none. We’ve lived here over 20 years in the same house. But…it struck me funny, as in if I myself have moved in the last 10 years. hahaha … I hope so! I’ve moved around as I go places, and do things. I even have trouble sitting still at any time, even when reading, watching TV, or typing on here. I have to be moving somehow all the time. It would be very odd if I had not moved a muscle in 10 years! 🙂

***

Is your second toe longer than your big toe?

No.

What happens when the dogs dream?

When we had dogs, we could tell they were dreaming by they way they moved their paws like they were running in their sleep. They twitch their whiskers, and make little barking noises. Their eyes flutter, too. What happens in their own mind, I have no idea, but we look at them and smile, thinking they are dreaming of chasing rabbits or something. Who knows? They never even seen a rabbit, except the pet one we had one time. Oh, our cat dreams sometimes, too, with all the same movements, only she meows instead of barks. 🙂

What’s on your closet floor right now?

A bunch of junk! Boxes of old VCR tapes of stuff I wanted to keep. Several big ‘ol wallpaper sample books (I use the pages sometimes as scrap book paper), paper bags full of stuff to put in scrap books, boxes of my written in notebooks, my guitar, my violin, my sewing machine, fabric in boxes, sacks of knick-knacks I took off a shelf, photographs in boxes and bags, some of which are not even of our family…I found them at an estate sale. And on and on with more stuff. No clothes or shoes on the floor, though.

Name five books on your bookshelf.

Aww man…now I have to go look! Which shelf? I have a lot of books, real books, and they are everywhere!

Here’s 5 I picked randomly. They are all good, but I haven’t read them in a long time.

  1. Strange Red Cow (and other curious classified ads from the past) by Sara Bader
  2. A World Turned Over (a true story of a devastating tornado) by Lorian Hemingway
  3. In a Dark Place (the story of a true haunting) by Ray Garton
  4. Letters From a Nut (silly letters he wrote to companies) by Ted L. Nancy
  5. A Box of Matches (a novel) by Nicholson Baker

Christmas Questions 2017

Here’s a fun challenge for the Christmas season.

I’m a day behind, so will combine the first 2 questions.

***

***

Last Christmas we spent with my daughter, son-in-law, and grand-son in Missouri. We had a great time, doing the usual things, such as shopping, eating, and playing board games. We went to a couple of beautiful Christmas displays in town, and visited with friends, too.

House with lights tuned to Christmas music

Candy Cane Crib – Sponsored by Boys & Girls Club

Wonderful get-together at friend’s house.

Beautiful decorated tree

***

No, I’ve never had one. I think I got one years ago for my girls, but the dog got into them and ate the candy all up.

When you leave a room, do you turn the lights off behind you or keep the lights on throughout your house most of the time?

Most times I try to turn them off, but there are some we have that we leave on all the time. We don’t have to have them on during the day, but it just looks wrong if they are off. We leave a few on all night. I know we have a couple of overhead lights that we have only had to change the light bulb a couple of times or so since we’ve lived here. That’s been over 20 years!

What do you feel is the most enjoyable way to spend $500?

If I had an extra $500 to play around with, I’d have a huge spending spree on the most non-essential things imaginable, just because it would be fun. Then, we’d wish we’d paid off a bill or something, but that’s no fun.

Complete this sentence: My favorite thing to do on my cell phone is…

My favorite thing to do on my cell phone is… to have face-time with my daughters and grand kids. Then, we do a lot of texting back and forth. The most that I do though, is taking photos, because my phone is always with me, and it makes it so easy to snap a picture of all kinds of things.

Unique Blogger Award 2017

***

I’d like to thank Elsie for nominating me for the Unique Blogger award. You can visit her blog, Ramblings of a Writer, by clicking the above link.

Rules:

    1. Link to the blogger who has shown love to you by nominating you.
    2. Answer the questions you are given.
    3. In the spirit of sharing love and solidarity with our blogging family, nominate 8-13 people for the same award.
    4. Ask the people you nominate 3 new questions.

***

So now I need to give my nominees three new questions. Here we go!

Name your favorite author, favorite musician/music group, favorite book, and favorite movie.

I think that’s more than three answers in one question so I will leave it at that if you like you can answer the questions I was asked.

***

My answers to the questions…

  • My favorite author is Poppy Z. Brite
  • My favorite book is, “Lost Souls”, by Poppy Z. Brite
  • My favorite musician/music group is The Eagles
  • My favorite movie is too hard to pick one, but I like most any that have music in them. Some of these are, “Ricki and the Flash”, “Rock of Ages”, “That Thing You Do”, and “Empire Records”.

***

I love being nominated for these blogging awards, but I don’t do nominations, myself. I know how time consuming it is to keep up with a blog, so I feel everyone deserves to be recognized. That said, if you’d like to grab this award for yourself, feel free to do so. 🙂

If you had to have your vision corrected would you rather: glasses or contacts? Or what do you use if you need to have your vision corrected?

I got my first pair of glasses when I was in 4th grade, and have worn them ever since. Later, I got bi-focals, and now I have tri-focals. I still have trouble seeing clearly, as I have glaucoma. I never wanted to try contacts. I did get some prescription sunglasses made once, but after three or more tries and never getting them made right, I gave up on them.

Are you more of a dog person or a cat person?

I like all animals. We’ve had dogs, cats, dogs & cats at the same time, and lots of other pets, over the years.

If you were to buy a new house/apartment what is the top three items on your wish list?

Not looking to get a new place to live, but let’s do some wishing for a minute. I’d like a southwestern type adobe house, with a middle courtyard. Lots of plants and animals would live there with us. It would be decorated in the S.W. style with suns, stars, moons, desert images, like lizards, and coyotes, too.

What inspired you this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

This is a little different than the usual grateful/looking forward question. I’m finding it just as hard to come up with anything, as the original question. Sorry, can’t think of a thing.

THE QUESTIONS…

1. As a child, my favorite playground activity was _______________________.

2. For breakfast, I have ___________________.

3. An instrument I would like to play is                        .

4. I always try to                          , because                       .
***
MY ANSWERS…
  1. My favorite playground activity? We never went to any playgrounds, unless you mean at elementary schools. In that case, I liked the days we had free play, where we could run around doing whatever we wanted. Mostly a group of us would play/pretend we were the characters from a TV show. I would say that was probably “Bonanza”, as that was popular back then, and we all watched it. Any other scheduled type things we had to do, such as softball, or…well, I can’t remember what else, but I never liked those days. I was never picked for a team, was just an afterthought because I was there. I was no good at any sport, and didn’t like them anyway, so it didn’t bother me. Our school didn’t have any playground equipment, whatsoever. It was just a large empty lot, with dried out grass, and no trees.
  2. For breakfast I have …some days just cereal and fruit. Other days would be bacon, eggs, & toast. If we get really industrious there may be biscuits and gravy. Occasionally we have pancakes.
  3. An instrument I would like to play is, the guitar. I have one, but haven’t practiced in a long time.
  4. I always try to …answer the comments I get on my blog, because I feel it is rude not to answer a person back, when they’ve taken the time to comment. I probably miss some, as I scroll through my notices, but it isn’t intentional. Sorry, if I’ve missed any of yours, or that it takes me awhile to get to them. I do appreciate each and every one. 🙂

Here are the fill-ins:

  1. My favorite line from a film is ___________________.
  2. Other than blogs, a website I visit often is ________
  3. When I feel down, I ______________________________.
  4. If I could _____________, I would ___________________.

***

  1. My favorite line from a film is… hard to pick just one. We quote movie lines all the time, and even started a game for it, with us having character names from the movie, “Pulp Fiction”, and we’d get points for answering who said the quote from whatever movie someone put on the chalkboard. Here’s our board, but it’s pretty messy right now.

There are a couple of quotes we say almost every day.

“The dishes are done, man”, said by the actor who played Kenny, Keith Coogan, in the movie, “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead”. We say this pretty much any time we get finished washing the dishes here, only we don’t go shooting them. That might be fun, though!

***

This next quote is one we say a lot. It is, “All right, all right, all right”, from the movie, “Dazed and Confused”. The actor who says this is Matthew McConaughey, playing the part of Woodson. This is one of our most quotable movies, and we watch it a lot.

***

2.  Other than blogs, a website I visit often is … Face Book, and Twitter.

3.  When I feel down I … try to distract myself by listening to music, or reading and blogging some more. Lots of times I do these at the same time. I forget about whatever is getting me down or not feeling good, for a little while.

4.  If I could … actually teleport myself, I would … I think it would be so fun to go wherever and whenever in time and space that I’d want to. It would sure save on travel expenses, and I could be there in an instant. 🙂

Here are the fill-ins:

  1. A recurring dream I have is _____________________.
  2. Turn ______________ into ________________________.
  3. _____________________________ is driving me crazy!
  4. Lately, I have been _____________________________.

***

  1. It seems my recurring dreams are always on the creepy and scary side. There are lots I have had several times over the years. They are always the same. I have no idea why, what they mean, or what causes them to be replayed.  So many to choose from! … In this one I’m driving on a busy freeway, and I’m so nervous, because I know what will happen. I know the way I want to go, and all will be good, but taking a different road, that leads up and over the main road, will get me in trouble, lost, and scared to death. I only have a few seconds to decide which way to go. I try my best to go the safe way, but somehow I always end up on the scary road…every single time. (this may have to do with my bridge phobia)
  2. Turn straw into gold. Naw…that’s a fairy tale. It would be nice, but it’s just wishful thinking.
  3. Itching is driving me crazy! It’s so dry here, it makes us all itchy, no matter how much lotion we use.
  4. Lately, I have been planting some seeds in little pots. They have mostly already sprouted, within a couple of days.
