POEM # 18
~
PROGRESSION OF EXPRESSION
I throw some words up in the air.
Here they land, and there, and there.
I pick them up, one by one.
Hey, guess what? This is fun!
But, then I sit, and fuss and stare;
I even start to pull my hair.
I meditate, procrastinate,
I work myself into a state.
How can I put these words together?
I line them up…now, that’s better.
I’m out of time…I need a rhyme!
I want my silly poem to shine.
This has nothing to do with Halloween –
“It’s hard,” I say, “do you know what I mean?”
Mix and match, those words to catch.
Why can’t I make my ideas hatch?
Arrange those words, now pick and choose.
I can do this – I won’t lose.
Now take a breath, it’s not life and death…
It’s fun and creative – quite motivative
To keep on trying, with a minimum of crying.
I do what I do to entertain you…
And tomorrow I might get back to BOO!
~
*Note – I did do this today. I took a handful of magnetic poetry words, threw them up, and attempted to put them in some sort of coherent poem. This was what I came up with (all these words were there)…and both are pretty nonsensical, but it was fun to do! 🙂 Here’s what happened…
Sock monster must swat in blue grass
Dad did surprise family here
Brother has old meow

The woman’s flower boy likes you, over green cookies.
Help to sleep, my mad, curious elephant.
