Color your World: Cotton Candy & Dandelion

***

This week for CYW we are looking at things with the color of Cotton Candy (pink), and Dandelion (yellow)

Sad to say, the Crayola Crayon known as Dandelion was retired after 27 years in the crayola box, in 2017. It was first introduced in 1990.

I’m glad I still have a box of them that does include the Dandelion crayon.

The photos show:

  • Cotton Candy Crayola Crayon
  • A package of actual sweet cotton candy at the store (clear plastic cup with a flamingo & lettering)
  • Streaks of vivid pink streaks of clouds against a very blue sky
  • A vase of pink Hyancith flowers
  • Cotton Candy facts – hue family is red – introduced in 1998
  • Pink Cotton Candy color round
  • My art of the word Cotton Candy in pink, outlined in black
  • A really old Christmas card with a pink ornament

The yellow Dandelion color photos show:

  • A small bright yellow box that Honeysuckle perfume came in (and a beehive shaped bottle)
  • Real Dandelion yellow flowers from our yard
  • Dandelion color square

Flower of the Day – Frilly Fun

This is a small arrangement of what I’d call frilly flowers. They are carnations, pink and yellow ones, and some pink many petaled flower I don’t know what is. The one carnation in the middle is light pink, but the edges of the petals are outlined in a dark purple, which is interesting.

FOWC with Fandango — Sashay

***

Combining two challenges here today – Sabi Saturday, and Fandango’s One Word Challenge…

***

The one word is ‘sashay’ and I have something that sounds the same, but is a different thing all together. That is a really old ‘sachet’ package.

That brings us to the description of Sabi Saturday:

Sabi Saturday is open for a whole week where we share:

  • the vintage/antique items handed down or we “rescue” from garage sales and thrift stores so they don’t end up in a trash bin
  • items we’ve upcycled instead of throwing them away
  • items we’ve repaired in a transformative way to make them more beautiful or cooler than before
  • process or tutorials on how we upcycled or repaired something to make something new, more beautiful, or cooler
  • the main idea is showing how we treasure or reuse or creatively transform things that have some history to them, may be a bit worn but nevertheless are still useful/beautiful and often have character.

As I’ve been going through some old boxes of my parent’s and grand-parents things that they kept over the years, I found this cute little sachet packet.

***

***

The note that was written and was inside the little pink container says:

To Nina (my aunt)

From Mrs. Frances

McCamey Texas

1930

***

The little pink container must have had some sweet smelling sachet in there. Sachets were used (and may still be used today) to place in a person’s chest-of-drawers to make everything smell nice. I used to use similar ones, myself.

The original box for this says it is a Dorothy Perkins product, and has the word Memories, and Sachet on the top, along with some pink roses.

On the front of the sachet container is a square, with blue flowers, and a small clock.

I think it is really cool that my aunt saved this little item, and my granny still had it, too.

I know the word sashay and sachet are different, but I can imagine my aunt would sashay out and about, with sweet smelling sachet scented clothes. 🙂

Well, here we have a baby’s pacifier. It belonged to one of my grand-kids, and was accidentally left over here at our house a long time ago.

I was curious as to what people call these, and was surprised at the many lists of names they are known by. We always just called it their ‘paci’ or ‘passie’, but I’ve heard it called a ‘binky’.

It’s funny, too, that some babies really like them, while others won’t take them at all.

These are just three of the hand fans that I have. I really like these kinds of fans, as they are so pretty, and I kind of collect them. I also always carry one in my purse, because you never know when you might need to fan yourself.
