This is a month of blue! It’s a fun challenge created by Becky of “The Life of B”, and each day we show something blue. The only rule beside blue, is that the photo MUST be SQUARE!

As an added bonus, I’ve found songs with blue in the title or lyrics. 🙂

Thanks, Becky!

This is a painting I did a long time ago on a small canvas. I did look at a picture to sketch in the outlines, then filled in the details with acrylic paint.

It is a little brown and white puppy, maybe a terrier, who is sitting in the back pocket of a pair of blue jeans.

“Venus in Blue Jeans”, by Mark Wynter, was released in 1962. It was also released from the singer, Jimmy Clanton, in the same year. It was written by Howard Greenfield and Jack Keller.

This is a painting I did a long time ago. I did look at picture I saw in a magazine when I sketched the outline of the things in the painting, Then I filled in with acrylic paint. It is on a round wood framed canvas.

It shows a German Shepherd puppy, brown & white. He is holding handcuffs in his mouth. Looks like he is in a child’s playroom, as there is a bed, partially shown, a toy black police car (the word police in red), a red toy box, and some wooden blocks.

The background wall is light blue, and the shag rug is a darker blue.

Sabi Saturday #14 – My Old Desk

***

Sabi Saturday, Week 14

***

***

To find out more details, and join in, just click the above link.

***

Sabi Saturday is open for a whole week where we share:

  • the vintage/antique items handed down or we “rescue” from garage sales and thrift stores so they don’t end up in a trash bin
  • items we’ve upcycled instead of throwing them away
  • items we’ve repaired in a transformative way to make them more beautiful or cooler than before
  • process or tutorials on how we upcycled or repaired something to make something new, more beautiful, or cooler
  • the main idea is showing how we treasure or reuse or creatively transform things that have some history to them, may be a bit worn but nevertheless are still useful/beautiful and often have character.

***

Here’s a couple of photos of my old desk.

My parents bought me this desk when I was in elementary school. I used it for all kinds of projects, plus doing my homework on, all the way through high school

It’s brown wood, with a flat top. The front part is slanted and has a little knob. When you pull it down, it forms a flat desk space. Behind this are three middle shelves, and on either side of these are larger open spaces.

Then there is a fairly large open space to put things, and below that is another shelf, that has sliding doors in front.

After I married and moved away, my mom kept this desk and used it as a painting supplies cabinet/desk. She did lots of oil paintings, and this desk helped her organize things.

Many years later, I got the desk back, and it is now in our spare bedroom. I use it all the time, as a craft desk/table. I have all kinds of art supplies in the shelves. It’s kind of messy, but I can find what I need to work on. The flat top makes a good staging area for a lot of my photos now, too.

I’m so glad I still have my old desk. I’ve had it since the 1950s.

The Escapist Coloring Club Prompt – April 1, 2019

***

Just an update on the ceramic mug I’ve been slowly painting. I added a little more coloring to the design. This time I did try a smaller bristled brush, hoping I could stay in the lines better. It may have worked a tiny bit better, but not that much easier. I’ll continue to work on it off and on.

***

***

Now, these are really fun to do. They look like stained glass. The pages are a kind of see-through paper, and I used markers on them. I’ve put a white sheet of paper behind these so you can see them better. If the pages are torn out and put up on a window, I’m sure the light shining through would be really cool looking.

I finished this whole book of pages quite awhile ago, and tried finding another book. I couldn’t find one at the stores, but did find one at a yard sale. I haven’t started doing that one yet.

Just Jot It January – Enigmatic – Day 4

Just Jot It January – Enigmatic – Day 4

#JusJoJan 2019 Daily Prompt – Jan. 4th

***

Your prompt for JusJoJan 2019, January 4th is brought to you by Virgobeauty! Click here to find her last post and say hi while you’re there! Virgobeauty’s word for our prompt today is “enigmatic.” Use it anywhere in your post or make it the theme of your post. Have fun!

***

Enigmatic = resembling an enigma, or a puzzling occurrence, situation, statement, person, etc.; perplexing; mysterious:

***

This is a poem I wrote back in 2015, and also an original painting of Ghost.

I believe there are many enigmas that people find mysterious. Whether you believe in the possibility of there being ghosts or not, you can be sure that…

Things aren’t always what they seem…

***

I AM THE GHOST BESIDE YOU

Why can’t you see me?

I never planned on being a Ghost…a Ghost of myself.

Flitting around you, I beg for attention…validation…

I am me…a Soul in transition…pain…

Why won’t you see me? I am here beside you.

You look right through me…like I’m not real.

It’s so hard…so hard…I want to be heard.

I need to know you still think of me…still love me.

I am transformed…not gone, not forgotten, not dismissed or diminished as

A strange sound, a confusing coincident of you know-not-what.

I don’t mean to scare you. Please feel no fear. I need your warmth…your love.

I ache to be near you.

Am I the cold chill you feel when I reach out to touch you?

Yes, it’s me.

Am I the wisp of mist you think you see, from the corner of your eye?

Yes, it’s me

Am I the moaning sound you think is the wind through the cracks?

Yes, it’s me.

I’m screaming out to you. I have been here all along.

I have not forgotten you. I give you signs…

Give me a sign that you still care…that you recognize that sudden small flash of memory.

Yes, it’s me, recognizing you in that moment.

I had to leave this life, this mortal realm.

It wasn’t my choice, you see. Please believe me…believe in me,

As I am still here with you…as I am.

I live in your heart, in your thoughts…I am still me, loving you, with all my Soul.

Am I the silence, when you sense that you’re being watched…yes, it’s me…I am near.

Yes, it’s me…still loving you with all my Soul…I am me…

I am the Ghost beside you…

The first photo is of some rocks I painted last year for Halloween.

The second photo is of Cricket looking at some painted rocks I did, to look like a pot full of cacti. In the background is another painting of mine of a dog and a cat.

The next photo is of Cricket looking at a spider rock I painted.

It seems Cricket likes to watch me when I paint. She’s always interested, and also likes to play with the clean paint brushes.

Nonsensical – Stream of Consciousness Saturday – ic/ical

Nonsensical – Stream of Consciousness Saturday – SOCS – ic/ical

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Aug. 18/18

***

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “-ic or -ical.” Find a word that uses the suffix “-ic” or “-ical.” Bonus points if you use both. Have fun!

***

Our blog challenge hostess, Linda G. Hill, has given us the letters ‘ic and ical’ as our starting point today, for SOCS. Thanks, Linda!

***

Well, let’s see… I looked up some words that ended with these *ic and ical*. I just don’t know how to put them together to make a post that makes sense, so I guess this will be nonsensical.

I participate in the Song Lyric Sunday musical challenge every week, hosted by Helen . We post a song about whatever prompt word she chooses, and find the lyrics to share, too. I never paid a lot of attention to a song’s lyrics until now, just enjoying the music. But, there are some really good song lyrics in the songs.

Another word was ‘relic’. I like antiques and relics from the past. I used to enter some in the local fair, and have won a few ribbons.

Alphabetical is another one I’ve been thinking about for awhile. That’s because the A to Z Blog Challenge will be coming up again in April. I would like to get a head start on that (I never have before, always running late). So, I’ve been trying to to think of a theme, but haven’t come up with anything interesting, yet.

Oh, bionic! I remember that TV show, “The Bionic Woman”, which was airing back in 1976. It starred Lindsay Wagner, and her character’s name was Jaime. Why I remember this show, besides the fact that I liked it, was that I went into labor with my first baby girl, while watching this show. I could have gotten clever and named her Lindsay or Jaime, but I didn’t. haha!

And, the last word I thought of is ‘acrylic’. I need to get out my acrylic paints again, because it’s been awhile since I painted anything.

Hope your Saturday is going great! (we had rain this morning – woo hoo! so nice)
