Today is the final day of these blog challenges. It’s been fun! At times the month seemed to go by pretty fast, and at other times, not so much. I’d say the last half, finding things to showcase on these posts, was a bit hard to do. At the first of the month, I was all…sure, I know I have 30 things of mine that I could write about. 🙂 Then, trying to find something that might be even a little bit interesting, well… I was scrambling, looking at things, rejecting them, sounding it out in my head of how it might sound if I wrote it…hahaha… anyway, I did manage.

I sure hope you got a laugh at some of them. I sure appreciate every one of you who came to visit, like, or comment on the daily posts. I do still have the list of participants, so hopefully I’ll have a chance to visit your blogs soon.

Thank you so much, Ra, for hosting Nano Poblano! Thanks to all the Cheer Peppers! Let’s do it again next year! 🙂

Now, for the last one…

“Please Introduce Yourself”

Yo, Hi, Hello! Nice to see you! We are the nice lady’s refrigerator magnets. Well, this photo only shows a very few of us, as we are a large, ever evolving community. Some of us are taking a break from decorating the fridge, you see.

The nice lady is always adding more, bringing more interesting characters home to be friends with us. We look forward to meeting the newcomers. When she goes on a trip somewhere, she always bring back a new friend, who can tell us all about where they came from. Some of us come from far away, and some from close by, like yard sales. If every one of us were to be here at the same time, we’d probably cover the whole door and side! 🙂

“Please Introduce Yourself”

Hello! We are the nice lady’s photo albums. We are in a big ‘ol mess over here. The nice lady has no sense of organization, as you can see. We don’t mind too much, because she loves us. She looks at us most every day, flipping through our many pages…and we sure have a lot of pages to flip through. Do you know why she does this? Because, of the photo challenges she does here on her blog. She tries to find a photo to go with a prompt word, or just a photo of whatever she’s writing about.

The nice lady has enjoyed taking photos for many years. she never throws away a photo, even if it is a blooper or out of focus! She even has those old negatives that come with the older photos. This is not all of our photo community, oh no. There are boxes and bags full of us in her closet, and garage, just waiting to be put into albums. someday! There are even lots of photos of people she doesn’t know. She gets them at yard sales and flea markets. We peeked, and they are pretty interesting, too. There are also many photos on her computer and phone. We like living here, because you never know when we will be needed to come to the rescue with a photo that is just right for the nice lady to use. 🙂

Ring Ring, Tinkle Tinkle, Clang Clang, Bong Bong! Hi there…we are the nice lady’s wind chimes. We enjoy making music for the nice lady. She has one of us out in the back yard, two of us out in the front yard tree, and one of us in the house. I suppose that means she likes our music everywhere she goes.

We come from all different places. One from a craft store, two were given as a Christmas presents,  and one was from an estate sale. When the wind gets to blowing good, we outside chimes really can make some noise…in a good way. Thank you, nice lady, for displaying us, and liking the music we make for you! 🙂

Namaste! We are the nice lady’s incense, and were handcrafted in India. She has burned incense for many years, in one form or another. We have many different fragrances, and she likes most all of them. She keeps us up on top of the TV shelf, so our beautiful scents can waft throughout the house. Some of us are the stick variety, and some are formed into cones. The nice lady has incense burners for each kind. She also has a sage broom, which is for cleansing the house of bad spirits.

I’m happy we live here, and are able to bring a sense of peacefulness to the nice lady. 🙂

“Please Introduce Yourself”

Hello! We are the nice lady’s many radios. As you can see, she sort of has a collection of us, and is always on the look-out for different ones to add to our growing clan. Represented here, we have: 2 Police Scanners, a set of 2 way radio walkie-talkies, a NOAA weather radio, 2 shortwave radios, a crank-handle emergency radio (with flashlight), and several transistor radios, of all kinds.

Her love of radios started when her dad built his own shortwave radio, many years ago. It was fascinating to hear broadcasts from all over the world. Then, she received her first transistor radio, and would listen to programs all night long, instead of sleeping. Late at night we would pull in stations from as far away as L. A. and Chicago. She even heard the famous Wolfman Jack in his heyday of radio broadcasts. So many interesting things to listen to in the middle of the night. And we were her faithful helpers. 🙂

Now, she does still listen to foreign broadcasts on the short-wave, and police calls on the scanners, and music on the transistors every day. She is still trying to figure out the walkie-talkies. 🙂

“Please Introduce Yourself”

Hello! I am the nice lady’s violin. I’ve lived with her for many years. She learned to play music on my strings when she was in the 6th grade of elementary school. Over the years of her schooling, all the way through High School, she took the classes of Orchestra. We played many concerts together, with other students. She also took me to special competitions, where we were judged and received a score. We did well!

Sometimes the nice lady still takes me out of my case and plays a few tunes…to the cat’s dismay… Oh, well, it feels good to be taken care of and loved for all these years. 🙂

“Please Introduce Yourself”

Hellloooo! Don’t mean to scare you, but I am the nice lady’s Spirit Candle. I’m happy to be here at her house, and I’ve been here at least a year or so. I haven’t played any tricks on her…yet! haha… Anyway, here’s my story. The nice lady wrote it a pretty long while ago, and I like it, because it’s all about me! 🙂

SPIRIT CANDLE

I have this candle. It sits on the shelf in my living room, in a square, glass jar. It is red, smells good, like spice, and is named “Christmas Spirit”. I’ve had it awhile, but have never lit it. My sister gave it to me because she was scared of it.

You may think that’s a strange reason to gift me with the candle, but I don’t. She knows I love all weird and paranormal things, and this candle had been acting ‘weird’ over at her house. I think she’d bought it at a yard sale, along with some others, a long time ago. She had this one and the others sitting out on her kitchen table, as she was thinking of getting rid of them, now.

She gave me the candle, and told me this spooky story about it. … She was sitting at her table, early one morning, while the house was quiet. She was sipping her coffee, when all of a sudden, the glass lid on the ‘Spirit’ candle popped off with a loud noise, and flew off across the room. It landed quite a distance away, but didn’t break. She was lucky it did not hit her, as it went flying by. There was no rational reason for the lid to come off the glass jar. The table was not jiggled, the room was an even temperature, and the lid had been securely fastened down on top of the jar. She had never burned the candle, either.

So, that’s why she was scared of it…maybe it was possessed, or would do it again at any given moment. Anyway, now I have it. I’ve been waiting for it to do something else…hoping it would flip it’s lid again…anything. I thought that being over here, at my house, with the resident spirits and ghosts, would trigger an incident, but so far it hasn’t. I wish it would.

Could it be that the ‘spirits’ in the Christmas candle are happier now, being around others of it’s kind? I don’t know, but if it does do anything else strange, I’ll let you know.

“Please Introduce Yourself”

Greetings! We are a few of the nice lady’s collection of salt and pepper shakers. There are quite a few more, but they were shy…didn’t want their photo taken. She had us packed away in the shed for awhile, but came to rescue us this afternoon. She gave us all a nice sudsy bath, and dried us off, so we’d look nice.

Hello…I’m the Kangaroo mom, and baby joey kangaroo. See the little one in my pouch? I’m pretty old, as in vintage or antique. Not that it bothers me at all! I was entered one time in the local fair, under antiques and relics, and guess what…I won a ribbon, just for sitting there looking pretty!

Ahem…excuse me Ms. Kangaroo…I was speaking… As I was saying, we come from all over the place, wherever the nice lady finds us. Mostly yard sales, thrift stores, and some of us were sent to her by friends, because they know she collects them. She even has a book that tells all about the collecting of S&Ps (salt & peppers). It was sent to her by a friend, also.

Now that we are out of storage, I hope the nice lady will set us on a shelf somewhere in the house, so she can admire us again. Maybe in the hutch her uncle built. She cleared out a lot of books, so now has the space. 🙂

“Please Introduce Yourself”

Hi there! We are a bunch of letters. The nice lady kept us for many years. She loves to write actual letters to be mailed, and so she did. She did have many pen-pals. There was a few magazines years ago, that were happy to print a letter you sent to them, asking for pen-pals. The nice lady did this a few different times, and each time received tons of responses in her mailbox. The letter writers came from all over the world. We are just a very few of the letters she was happy to receive, and they exchanged back and forth correspondence for quite a while.

You can see one of the letters she sent in to the magazine, and some of the many she’d gotten back. It was lots of fun to be part of the fun of sharing thoughts and ideas with many ladies. I think she would still be doing this, but since the prevalence of emails and such, not so many want to write or receive real letters in the mail anymore. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. 🙂

“Please Introduce Yourself”

Good day! Happy to have you visit!

We are a small collection of pitchers. We are also small. We used to belong to the nice lady’s granny. She collected little pitchers to set on her what-not shelves. The nice lady had given her two of us, and inherited the other ones pictured here. I don’t know what happened to all the rest of our crew that resided with granny. I suppose the other grandchildren received some to take to their houses.

Hi, I’m the tall one on the left. I came from Germany. The nice lady bought me as a souvenir from the city she lived in, Furth, Germany. I was mailed across the ocean to meet her granny and the other pitchers there.

Aloha! I’m here on the far right. I come from Hawaii. I was sent to granny by the nice lady, when she spent some time in Honolulu, HI. It was across another ocean that I came. I was happy to meet everyone.

Hey, don’t forget us! We’re in the middle. We came from somewhere, too. Pretty little rose pitcher was here when I got here. I came from Colorado…the Royal Gorge. I’m sorry, I don’t know who sent me to granny, but it may have been the nice lady’s mom. I know she and the nice lady and her family visited the beautiful gorge many years ago, and must have took me along when they went back home. I was happy to be given to granny, as she loved all her pitcher collection.
We will say good-bye for now. We live with the nice lady, in the hutch that her uncle built. 🙂
