A to Z BLOG CHALLENGE – LETTER J

A to Z BLOG CHALLENGE – LETTER J 4bd62ad9-ea74-4273-967b-7c426c911c61 IMG_2349

Today’s letter to write something about is J.

~

Letter J is for…Janis Joplin

Janis Joplin, an American singer/songwriter, was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on January 19, 1943. She died on October 4, 1970. During the mid 60s, she performed her unique style of singing the blues, and rock, with the band, Big Brother and the Holding Company. To the public, she was often called the Queen of Psychedelic Soul, but to her friends, she was Pearl. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.  A couple of her well-known songs were “Piece of My Heart”, and “Me and Bobby McGee”.

Letter J is for…Journals/Journaling

Chances are, if you like to write, you’ve bought a journal, or even lots of journals over the years. I know I have. It’s hard to resist a new book of blank pages, just waiting for me to fill in with my thoughts, doodling, and miscellaneous notes and reminders. Pretty much anything can become a journal. A regular spiral notebook or composition book works just fine. If you want to, you can get really pretty and fancy books, too, as there are as many types as there are people who keep a journal. You can call them diaries, day planners, travel logs, or anything you feel suits your mood. Have fun with your own personal journal. Here’s a photo of just some of mine. 🙂

WHERE HAVE ALL THE CHICKENS GONE?

WHERE HAVE ALL THE CHICKENS GONE?

Maybe you noticed? The Mystery Box Chickens were not available for my Letter H post today. Where were they?

After a bit of investigation, I found them. They were off on a lark, a joyride, a Saturday of Shenanigans, some mystery mischief, of their own. Um-hmm… Take a look…

Wheeee!

Yeah, out for fun and games, instead of bringing the mystery box to the post. Well, after the little talk I had with them, I’m sure they will be back on Monday, doing their job.

See you soon!

Peace! }I{

F is for…FORETELLING THE FUTURE

Fortune telling has been practiced for millennia by people who believe they have the power of clairvoyance. In other words, they try to tell/read the future by many different means. Some use tarot cards, while others, do palm reading, and read tea leaves. Those that practice numerology, use numbers and math to predict a person’s future path. There are also those who study handwriting (graphology), or consult the Ouija board.

Many of these are believed to be only guesswork, but I believe there are some people who truly have a gift of knowing things. Most will ask a customer who seeks to know the future, some general, vague questions that could apply to anyone. Whether the predictions and advice given will come true, is never certain.

The act of fortune telling, or psychic readings is banned in some countries, and in others, it is only a misdemeanor, especially if they charge a fee for their services. It is also against some religions.

F is for…”Freebird”

“Freebird” is thought to be the signature song of the southern rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd. A power ballad, the song was released in 1974. Written by Allen Collins, and Ronnie Van Zant, it is usually played as their last song in the bands live performances line-up.

Hope you enjoyed the letter F. Come visit again tomorrow to see what’s in the mystery box! 🙂

TOMORROW – APRIL 1, 2016 – A to Z BLOG CHALLENGE

Standard

TOMORROW – APRIL 1, 2016 – A to Z BLOG CHALLENGE 4bd62ad9-ea74-4273-967b-7c426c911c61

This April will be my third time participating in the “A to Z Blog Challenge”. It’s what I call the ‘Big One’ of the year.

Bloggers all over the world will be blogging every day (except Sunday) following the alphabet A to Z, each day corresponding to the letters, in order. We write something having to do with the letter of the day. It can be about anything, and lots of the blogs will have a certain theme to write about, while others will be a variety of interesting topics.

It is a lot of fun, to see if you can get through the whole month, and also to visit other blogs/bloggers to see their entries, comment, and even follow, if you so desire.

This time, as usual, I have not picked a theme, but will present a variety of, hopefully, interesting things to read. To me, that is one of the most fun parts of A to Z…the surprises you get when you visit a blog. So, I hope you’ll check back here to visit a few minutes each day, to see what surprises I have in the Mystery Box, the Grab Bag, the Gift to unwrap, for your entertainment!

Until tomorrow then, I leave you with a poem/parody song , and a sneak peek…:)

Enjoy!

~

Sing to the tune of “If I Only Had a Brain”, from the wizard of OZ movie. The original song written by Harold Arlen (music), and E. Y. Harburg (lyrics), in 1939.

If I Only Had a Theme

I have thought for many an hour,

But it only made me cower…

Searching for a theme,

And, my head, it’s a spinnin’,

It leaves me goofy grinnin’

‘Cause I haven’t got a theme.

I have googled many subjects,

And still I sit in deject…

Wanting to find a theme.

So many interesting topics,

Yet still I find I can’t pick…

What I want to be the theme.

The April A to Z fun,

Have bloggers wanting to be done…

With choosing of their theme,

But here I am last minute,

And, yes I am still in it…

Even though I have no theme.
