The Silent Wings Museum here in town has all kinds of vintage airplanes like this one. This place, here at our airport, was a training airfield for the WWII glider pilots, and the museum has an actual glider, plus other artifacts, and information about the time. It has been here since 2001, Some are displayed outside, and inside, like this one, in a huge room with windows letting in the light. The light is also reflected on the shiny floor.
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “roll/role.” Use one, use both, it’s entirely up to you. Enjoy!

Rock ‘n Roll
Buddy Holly
***
Rock ‘n Roll Stole My Soul … that’s a saying that is on one of my tank tops. I wear it a lot. I’ve loved rock music ever since I first heard any. Music makes the world go round, or is that love? “I love rock ‘n roll music. dah dah dah…” whatever the rest of the words go to that song.

“Rave On”, by Buddy Holly, was released in 1958. It was written by Sonny West, Bill Tilghman, and Norman Petty, and is on the Coral label.
Yes, the first thing I thought about for the prompt of ‘roll/role’ was the legendary rock ‘n roll musician, Buddy Holly.
Our city is the hometown of this gifted man, and we do have the Buddy Holly Center, a museum, a statue, and even streets named after him. He is buried in our city cemetery, and I’ve seen it many times. People leave guitar picks at the site.
Buddy Holly got his start right here, and even played his music at our skating rink back in the day. This was before my time of skating there, though. I think I heard that my aunt went to school with him…high school.
The place where the statue is, is called the Walk of Fame, and there are plaques with all the names of musicians, and actors who have come from here, and the areas near here. There are a lot of them.
The museum with all things Buddy Holly, also has a gift shop, where you can buy most anything you can think of to do with him. I’ve been there a lot of times.
Anyway, seeing the prompt ‘roll’ was a good one to get me thinking of rock ‘n roll, but then I do that all the time, anyway.

Have a fun Saturday, and enjoy some music of your choice. 🙂
