March Squares Final – Spikes # 31

We’ve done it, 31 spikes!

***

Today is the very last day of our March Spikes Square Challenge! It’s been a lot of fun finding photos and songs. Thanks so much, Becky, for hosting this fun challenge! 😉

***

Today’s photos are of snails I found at our house. The first photo snail is a light bluish green color. He’s halfway out of his shell, which is tan and white with brown speckles. This one is going to the right.

The second snail is a dark blue one, with a shell of brown and tan. He’s halfway out of his shell and is going left.  Looks like he was on our glass door, and you can see his underside. What do you call that…his foot? Anyway he glides along on it.

Both the snail’s shells are the elongated type, not a round one.

They both have their spiky antennas. I read that they are called eyestalks, and their eyes are on the tips of the stalks.

***

This video shows all kinds of snails moving around, which is pretty neat. There’s also a shot of one giant snail someone is holding, and also a shot of Gary the Snail from the Sponge Bob cartoons.

I like the song, too, but it takes a few seconds to get to the singing part.

“Snail”, by Awolnation, was released in 2010, from their album, “Megalithic Symphony”. It was written by Aaron Bruno, and is on the Red Bull label.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my month of Spikes and Squares and Songs! Next time will be in June, I think…We’ll see what topic Becky chooses for this one, which I’m sure will be something fun and interesting. 🙂

Today’s photo is of spiky ice formations.

I make tea for drinking iced tea later in the day, and put it in an old Mr. Coffee glass pot. I put it in the refrigerator. Then, I notice sometimes that ice has formed on the top of the liquid. It looked pretty interesting, so I took some photos, then zoomed it in closer.

I think the ice makes some really pretty designs, which looks pointy and spiky. 🙂

Only a few spikes left

This time I have a photo of some spiky corn stalks. This was at a corn maze we went through a few years ago. Those things are fun, but really a bit spooky. You can hear the dried out stalks rustling in the breeze. Some of the plants leaves were still a bit green, though the sun shining on the tops of them made them look golden. The stalks are so tall and the dirt path so narrow, it’s hard to tell where you are in the maze.

“Corn Fed”, by Shannon Brown was released in 2006. It was produced by John Rich, of Big and Rich, and is on the Warner Bros. label.

Wednesday Spikes

For today’s Square Spiky, I have a merry-go-round horse. They also are called carousels. The painted mane on the horse looks pretty spiky/pointy, I think.

I took this photo at our local amusement park, called Joyland.

“On a Carousel”, by the Hollies, was released in 1967. It was written by Allan Clarke, Graham Nash, and Tony Hicks, and is ont the Parlophone/Imperial label.

Our final spiky Tuesday

Here’s another spiky thorn cactus for today’s March Square, and another one that is kind of unusual looking, with it’s fan-like shape and pink ruffled top, and pink spikes.

Spiky Countdown

***

Today, for the spiky photo I have some sticks of incense and some pointy shards of peppermint candy.

As it is getting to the end of the challenge (our last week!) it’s getting harder to find spiky, pointy things. Yeah, I’m trying to think of anything I can, and setting up photos for it. Plus, my added challenge of finding a song that works with the photo…sometimes not easy at all! Whew…this has sure been a challenge, but fun!

Thanks, Becky! A few more days, and we’ll see what I can find. 🙂
