Love Is In Da Blog – Pets – Day 20

https://thebeewritesdownloads.wordpress.com/2019/02/20/love-is-in-da-blog-20-a-love-song-for-our-pets-prompt-post-for-february-21th/

For today’s song, we are supposed to find one for our pets. Thanks, Bee!

This one was kind of hard for me to find, because I don’t have any special song for Cricket.

So I kept looking for songs that might work, and found this one, which I like a lot. There weren’t any videos I could find with cats in them, though. Found some with penguins, a pig, and these cartoon unicorns. Oh well…

We got Cricket when she was a teeny tiny baby. I don’t know where she came from, just showed up, but the other outside cats were not nice to her, being bullys and not letting her eat the food we set out. So we took her inside. We had two dogs, and three cats here already, and Cricket immediately got along with them all.

That was nine years ago.

Here’s my Cricket! She’s sweet and I love her. ❤

Today Bee has suggested queer love songs. Thanks, Bee!

I don’t really like using labels such a queer, so hope this doesn’t offend anyone, as that is the prompt. My thoughts are that love is love, and love songs are love songs, no matter your persuasion. Any song that speaks of love can be for everyone.

This song is one I’ve liked for a long time. It’s a fun little ditty, with good music, and a twist at the end.

“Lola,” by the Kinks, was released in 1970. It was written by Ray Davies, and is on the Pye-Reprise label.

Well, we finally reached the current year of finding songs. It’s still very early in the year for brand new songs, but I did find this one. I like it a lot, as I like a lot of her songs, and the video is really cute and sweet. Also the video of her telling a little about how the song was made was very interesting.

“Good Morning”, by Meghan Trainor, was released February 8, 2019, from her album, “The Love Train”. It was written by Meghan Trainor, Andrew Wells, and Daryl Sabara, and is on the Epic label.

It features her father, Gary Trainer, playing some of the music parts. He is a music teacher and organist.

Okay, so…songs from 2009 to 2018 is our prompt suggestion today. Thanks, Bee!

This one was a hard one for me to find something. There are a few songs I like from this time period, but most on lists I saw, I never heard of. I don’t listen to much of the newer music…my radio is always tuned to the oldies stations. I know I’ve posted this one before, but it is a good song, talking about love, which after all is the theme of this month’s challenge. I know it missed the exact date by one year earlier, but then since it kept climbing the charts later on, I think it will work just fine.

***

“1234”, by the Plain White T’s, was released in 2008. It climbed the charts and reached #34 on Billboard’s Top 100, in 2009 when the video was released. Since then it’s gone platinum in 2011. It was written by Tom Higgenson, and can be found on their album, “Big Bad World”, on the Hollywood label.

Hey, look! We’ve entered the 2000s now! Thanks for all the fun prompts this month, Bee! We still have half a month to go, too, with even more interesting prompts to come!

***

This song is one of Creed’s that I really like. I like a lot of their songs, too. Here we have Scott Stapp writing and singing about the time he found out he was to become a father. He is awestruck by the fact, and that his life is about to change…he’ll have new responsibilities to his child, showing him everything good the world has to offer, including love.

***

“With Arms Wide Open”, by Creed, was released in 2000 from their album, “Human Clay”. It was written by Scott Stapp and Mark Tremonti, and is on the Wind-up label.

***

***

[Verse 1]
Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I closed my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face

[Chorus]
With arms wide open under the sunlight
Welcome to this place I’ll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open

[Verse 2]
Well I don’t know if I’m ready
To be the man I have to be
I’ll take a breath, I’ll take her by my side
We stand in awe, we’ve created life

[Chorus]
With arms wide open under the sunlight
Welcome to this place I’ll show you everything
With arms wide open now everything has changed
I’ll show you love, I’ll show you everything

With arms wide open
Wide open

[Verse 3]
If I had just one wish only one demand
I hope he’s not like me, I hope he understands
That he can take this life and hold it by the hand
And he can greet the world with arms wide open

[Chorus]
With arms wide open under the sunlight
Welcome to this place I’ll show you everything
With arms wide open now everything has changed
I’ll show you love, I’ll show you everything

With arms wide open
With arms wide open

For today’s love song, we are looking back at the 1990s. Thanks, Bee!

This is just a really pretty love song, and one I’ve liked ever since I first heard it back then.

***

“Love is on the Way”, by Saigon Kick, was released in 1992 from their album, “The Lizard”. It was written by Jason Bieler, and is on the Third Stone/Atlantic label.

***

***

Lonely sidewalks, silent night
Bring the evening, deep inside
Hold me darlin, touch me now
Let the feeling, free tonight

Love is on the way
I can see it in your eyes
Let’s give it one more try tonight, baby,
Love is on the way
I can see it in your eyes,
Let’s give it one more try tonight

Time of season, wipes the tears
No rhyme or reason, no more fears
All the dreaming, far behind
You are here now, everything’s alright

Love is on the way
I can see it in your eyes
Let’s give it one more try tonight, baby,
Love is on the way
I can see it in your eyes,
Let’s give it one more try tonight

And in the morning I’ll be gone away
All the things I left behind
If you need me I’ll come night or day
Lets stop the hands of time

Love is on the way
I can see it in your eyes
Let’s give it one more try tonight, baby,
Love is on the way
I can see it in your eyes,
Let’s give it one more try tonight

Love is on the way
I can see it in your eyes
Let’s give it one more try tonight, baby,
Love is on the way
I can see it in your eyes,
Let’s give it one more try tonight

Today for the challenge we are looking and listening to offerings from the 1980s. Thanks, Bee, for all the fun prompt suggestions!

The 80s gave us so many great songs. I’ve spent most all morning going down memory lane just listening to a lot of my favorites. Actually trying to find one to post on here, but there are so many. Now I sound like a broken record that’s stuck on the same phrase…so many good ones.

Anyway, I’ve posted this one before, but just can’t help it. I love this song. Hope you enjoy it, too.

***

“Angel Eyes”, by The Jeff Healey Band, was released in 1989, from their album, “See The Light”. It was written by John Hiatt and Fred Koller, and is on the Arista label.

***

Girl, you’re looking fine tonight
And every guy has got you in his sight
What you’re doing with a clown like me
Is surely one of life’s little mysteries

So tonight I’ll ask the stars above
“How did I ever win your love?”
What did I do?
What did I say
To turn your angel eyes my way?

Well, I’m the guy who never learned to dance
Never even got one second glance
Across a crowded room was close enough
I could look but I could never touch

So tonight I’ll ask, the stars above
“How did I ever win your love?”
What did I do?
What did I say
To turn your angel eyes my way?

Don’t anyone wake me
If it’s just a dream
Cause she’s the best thing
Ever happened to me

You can look all you like
But this girl you see
She’s leavin’ here with me tonight

There’s just one more thing that I need to know
If this is love why does it scare me so?
It must be somethin’ only you can see
Cause girl I feel it when you look at me

So tonight I’ll ask the stars above
“How did I ever win your love?”
What did I do?
What did I say
To turn your angel eyes my way?
Hey, hey, hey, yeah, awww

Today we are looking for songs from the 1970s. There were a lot of good songs, but none were actually catching my attention for some reason. Also, a lot of the songs that were played a lot on the radio in the 70s, had actually been written a few years earlier than that. So… wasn’t sure I should count them or not, but went ahead anyway. Then, I ran across this one, which I do like a lot.

***

This song tells the story of a couple who love each other, but have gone their separate ways. The man is telling the woman that if she ever finds heartbreak with other lovers, that he’d still be here waiting for her return, before she could cry another teardrop.

***

“Before the Next Teardrop Falls”, by Freddy Fender, was released in 1974 from his album of the same name. It was written by Vivian Keith and Ben Peters, in 1967 and was recorded a few times by other artists. However, when presented to Freddy Fender, and released to the country charts, it took off, resulting in a #4 Billboard Hit. in 1974.

For today’s look back at love songs, we have the decade of the 60s. There are so many good songs from this time period, and I remember lots of them, as this was my teen years. We listened to the radio all the time, bought the long playing LPs and the single song 45s to play on our stereos and record players. We had our favorite bands, and read about them in our teen magazines, cutting out photos to tape on our bedroom walls.

Herman’s Hermits was one of my favorite bands of the time, so I chose this song for today.

Thanks, Bee, for giving us a good reason to listen to some old favorite songs, and share them here. 🙂

***

“There’s a Kind of Hush”, by Herman’s Hermits, was released in 1967, from their album, “There’s a Kind of Hush All Over the World”. It was written by Geoff Stephens and Les Reed,

***

***

There’s a kind of hush all over the world tonight.
All over the world you can hear the sounds of lovers in love.
You know what I mean.
Just the two of us and nobody else in sight.
There’s nobody else and I’m feeling good just holding you tight.

So listen very carefully.
Closer now and you will see what I mean.
It isn’t a dream.
The only sound that you will hear
Is when I whisper in your ear
I love you forever and ever.

There’s a kind of hush all over the world tonight.
All over the world you can hear the sounds of lovers in love.
La-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la

So listen very carefully.
Closer now and you will see what I mean.
It isn’t a dream.
The only sound that you will hear
Is when I whisper in your ear
I love you forever and ever

There’s a kind of hush all over the world tonight.
All over the world people just like us are fallin’ in love.
Yeah, they’re fallin’ in love.
Hush, they’re fallin’ in love.
Hush.

You know what irritates me? When I look for the written out lyrics, and they don’t completely follow the words being sung. This is one of those kind, but the closest I could find. Then again, this video was taken from a live performance somewhere, so maybe they changed it up for that.

https://thebeewritesdownloads.wordpress.com/2019/02/10/love-is-in-da-blog-a-love-song-from-1949-1958-prompt-post-for-february-11th/

Today’s prompt suggestion is for love songs from the decade of the 1950s. Thanks, Bee! The month is barely half done and I’m really enjoying finding songs for your challenge. 🙂

***

There were a a lot of sweet, romantic type movies made during the 50s and 60s. I’m sure I didn’t see them until later on, but I liked all of them. I know I’d seen this one, and there were four featuring the character of Tammy, who was played by Debbie Reynolds, and then later ones by Sandra Dee.

***

“Tammy”, by Debbie Reynolds was a song from the 1957 movie, “Tammy and the Bachelor’. It was written by Ray Evans (lyrics) and the music was by Jay Livingston.

***

***

I hear the cottonwoods whisprin above
Tammy! Tammy! Tammys in love!
The ole hootie owl hootie-hoos to the dove
Tammy! Tammy! Tammys in love!
Does my darling feel what I feel
When he comes near?
My heart beats so joyfully
You’dthink that he could hear!
Wish I knew if he knew what I’m dreaming of!
Tammy! Tammy! Tammys in love!Whippoorwill, whippoorwill, you and I know
Tammy! Tammy! Can’t let him go!
The breeze from the bayou keeps murmuring low
Tammy! Tammy! You love him so!
When the night is warm, soft and warm
I long for his charms!
I’d sing like a violin
If I were in his arms
Wish I knew if he knew what I’m dreaming of!
Tammy, Tammy, Tammys in love!
