I’ve really had a good time following the prompts you suggested for the challenge. It’s been fun to see what songs everyone else found, too.

These two songs are favorites of mine. They were a couple of the featured songs in the movie soundtrack of “Tokyo Pop”. That movie is definitely one of my favorites. In the movie the first song was sung by Carrie Hamilton, daughter of Carol Burnett. Carrie has sadly passed away now, but she was a wonderful actress.
The second song is sung by Diamond Yukai Tadokoro, who is an actual rock star in his homeland of Japan.
These songs were the love songs the characters in the movie wrote and sang to each other. They are very emotional and lovely.
I tried to find lyrics to them, but never could for some reason. Hope you enjoy listening to them, and maybe sometime you can find the movie to watch. It’s really good.

I always liked this movie, “Top Gun”, and the song. One reason I remembered this one is because (if I remember correctly) it was one of the first movies we ever rented to watch on a VCR. We didn’t own one at the time, so we rented one from a store. This was before VCRs were commonplace in everyone’s home, at least ours. My daughter was having a birthday party and sleepover, and she wanted them to have a movie to watch.

“Take My Breath Away”, by Berlin, was a song from the 1986 movie, “Top Gun”. It was written by Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock, and is on the soundtrack from the movie, and on the album, “Count Three and Pray”. It is on the Columbia and Geffen label.

I’ve never seen a musical live on a stage, only those made for TV movies that have a lot of singing in them. There’s lots of them to choose from.  Anyway, I liked the sequel, “Grease 2” better than the first one, so I found a song I liked from it.

I don’t know much about operas or the songs they sing. I have heard a song or two from Charlotte Church, and Jackie Evancho which are really pretty, and amazing, but I’ve never seen an opera, and don’t go out of my way to listen to any. Sorry.

That’s why I’m going a bit off the rails today with this one. It is the theme song from a soap opera, so at least the word opera is there!

One of my favorite soap operas was Another World, created by Irma Phillips. It has since ended, but I watched it from the very first show to the end (1964 to 1999). Most soap operas are about the love stories between the many characters, along with all the drama and family dynamics.

For today’s song choice, Bee has suggested something in a foreign language. I suppose that means a different language than we normally speak. Thanks, Bee!

I wanted to show this one, because it is a favorite of mine, and because it is one that my five year old grand-daughter sings all the time. She learned the Japanese words to this song pretty much as soon as she could talk. Her mom played the song for her and sang it to her in Japanese ever since she was born. Now she can sing it herself.

I don’t know that it is a love song (as love is the theme of these challenges), but I love it, and I love hearing my grand-daughter sing it. Also, I love the stars, and looking up into the night sky filled with all the beautiful diamonds.

These don’t necessarily have to be about the country we live in, but for me it is the USA. I’m so thankful we do live here. I’ve lived in other countries, and they are wonderful, but there is just nothing like coming home to our own America.

“This Land is Your Land”, written by folk singer, Woody Guthrie, was released in 1945. It has been recorded by many artists over the years.

What I found was that the song has many verses, and some recordings use the main ones that Woody Guthrie wrote, but they leave out some of the verses. Even this recording by he, himself is different from the listed lyrics I found.

So, I put one of his original recordings, plus one that has pretty pictures, and one version of the lyrics I found.

Anyway, I like the song, and hope you do, too. 🙂

There are so many songs dealing with heartbreak, it’s hard to choose just one, so I chose two from this band because I like all their songs. They may not be what you’re expecting from a sad song subject, but hope you enjoy listening, even a little bit, and the lyrics are good, too.  🙂

The first one is pretty wild and loud, and so I give you a second one, which is a bit milder. Both deal with heartbreak and the loss of love from another.

For today’s song suggestion, Bee has given us the topic of God. Thanks, Bee!

This was a most interesting prompt, as there are so  many great songs to choose from, and so many different ways to interpret the ways to sing or mention God. That to me also includes any mention of religion, praise, God, Jesus, Lord or any other faith based lyrics and words to reflect your own beliefs. There are of course many traditional hymns like you’d hear in church, and also many pop and rock songs with this subject. I spent most of the morning just listening to all kinds.

In the end I chose this one, which I like a lot. Hope you enjoy listening.

This one was kind of hard for me to find, because I don’t have any special song for Cricket.

So I kept looking for songs that might work, and found this one, which I like a lot. There weren’t any videos I could find with cats in them, though. Found some with penguins, a pig, and these cartoon unicorns. Oh well…

We got Cricket when she was a teeny tiny baby. I don’t know where she came from, just showed up, but the other outside cats were not nice to her, being bullys and not letting her eat the food we set out. So we took her inside. We had two dogs, and three cats here already, and Cricket immediately got along with them all.

That was nine years ago.

I don’t really like using labels such a queer, so hope this doesn’t offend anyone, as that is the prompt. My thoughts are that love is love, and love songs are love songs, no matter your persuasion. Any song that speaks of love can be for everyone.

This song is one I’ve liked for a long time. It’s a fun little ditty, with good music, and a twist at the end.
