Flower of the Day – Peace Lily

The Peace Lily is a large white, teardrop shaped flower with dark green leaves. It is a fairly tall plant, and I read that it is easy to care for.

I always wondered why it is called a Peace Lily, and here’s what the Wiki article says:

The name peace lily came about, so it is said, because when they were first spied by European explorers, probably growing wild on the banks of a stream, the white flowers reminded them of the traditional “white flag” used to signal no combat or surrender.

Flower of the Day – Big Yellow Lilies

This arrangement has two very big lilies and some yellow daisies.

Hard to tell from the photo, but these lilies were huge – probably larger than my hand!

The price tag said they cost $46.00. I wonder why flowers are so expensive.
