Oops! – One Liner Wednesday & Just Jot It January

#JusJoJan 2019 Daily Prompt – Jan. 16th, and One-Liner Wednesday

***

This was the page on the calendar we have today.

Have you had one of those Oops! moments when working on your computer? I know I have.

Right after I push the wrong button, there’s a second that I freeze. Oh no! What have I done?

Then there is the scramble to get it back, by trying all kinds of little tricks and trials.

Sometimes it’s gone forever, and you just have to start over.

Here’s another kind of Oops!

A broken egg yolk this morning. But, hey…they were going to be scrambled anyway. Just a minute, though…this was a double yolk egg. It happens sometimes, too. Some say it’s good luck to find a double yolk egg.

If so, I wish you all good luck in all your computer dealings today! 🙂

Just Jot It January & Stream of Consciousness Saturday -SOCS – Movement

The Friday Reminder for #SoCS & #JusJoJan Daily Prompt, Jan. 27th, 2018

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: movement. However, don’t use the word “movement.” Choose some sort of movement, and base your post on that. Enjoy!

***

Today’s prompt that Linda has suggested is to write about movement, but don’t use that word. Thanks for an interesting prompt!

Here’s a different way of ‘looking’ at things.

I’m fascinated by optical illusions, especially those that seem to re-arrange themselves in the picture. Why does this happen? Is it a trick of the eye, or is it our brain  seeing something that isn’t really true? You know it’s a flat picture, yet you seem to see a weirdness start to happen.

Stare at this one for a little bit. What happens? Do you see little gray dots in between the squares, at the corners in the white space. I see them, and they seem to appear and disappear as your eyes scan the picture.

There are lots of these optical illusions you can find on the internet. This was one of many on Pixabay.

One-Liner Wednesday & #JusJoJan Daily Prompt – January 10th, 2018

“To make a long story short…”

The other day, while in a restaurant, we overheard a lady in the next booth say this.

Funny thing though, she and her friend were there when we got there, and were still there when we left, and she never stopped talking. It was non-stop. There was no way she could ever make a long story short, I was thinking! 🙂

Stream of Consciousness Saturday – SOCS & Just Jot It January – ECO

The Friday Reminder for #SoCS & #JusJoJan Daily Prompt, Jan. 6th, 2018

Today’s SOCS is combining with Just Jot It Saturday, and the prompt suggestion is to use the letters ‘eco’ in your post. Thanks, Linda!

***

I did look up some words that had those letters in them, and then took a couple of minutes to write this little story, all stream of consciousness, as it came to me.

Here’s my try at using a bunch of words that have ‘eco’ somewhere in them. 🙂

***

The Art Deco decorations in the music hall were only a decoy.

Frank, working undercover as Francine, the drag queen who sings zydeco, was performing.

The second the audience saw her act, they recoiled in horror, and demanded a recoup of their admission ticket price.

For the record, Francine’s act bombed, and so did the case Frank was trying to solve.

***

Words used with ‘eco’ are: (8) Deco, decorations, decoy, zydeco, second, recoiled, recoup, record

51 Weeks/51 Songs From the Past – Finale

51 Weeks: 51 Songs From The Past: Week 51: Paul McCartney & Wings – Mull Of Kintyre

This is the final week of Hugh’s challenge. I’ll be sad to see it end, but he has mentioned there will be something new coming up soon. Thanks for hosting, Hugh! I’ve enjoyed listening to lots of music during the year, some old favorites, and some new to me. It was fun to find songs to go with your prompt. 🙂

So, we are to find a favorite song that we’d like to hear for the New Year. I’m not sure if it is to be a song about New Year’s Day, or just a favorite of mine.

The song I listened to the most this year is the one I’ll go with. It was the favorite of mine for the year.

Memories…

I know I’ve featured this song a few times on the blog, but I think it works for a New Year song, too. It seems to speak to the tragedy of Alzheimer’s, in that many memories are lost, but at times a glimmer of those memories may flash back to you. Also, that things may be different, yet there is always a new beginning. What I get too, is that it is the start of a brand new year, and a time to make new memories.

***

“The Bliss”, by Volbeat, was released in 2016, from the album, “Seal the Deal & Let’s Boogie”. It’s written by Michael Poulsen.

I’m also adding this post to Linda’s “Just Jot It January”. The prompt word for this challenge is ‘Memories’.  It has been suggested by Cage Dunn, and can be found here: https://cagedunn.wordpress.com/2018/01/03/if-you-want-to-be-heard/

This will be a two for one deal, as I didn’t manage to post for yesterday’s prompt, and here it is today already.

Anyway, the prompts were/are ‘Boisterous’, which was suggested by Dan. Here’s the link to his blog, and to the prompt page. Thanks, Dan!

Also, being it is Wednesday, the normal One Liner Wednesday is in effect, which means there is no special prompt.  Here’s the link to today’s page.

One-Liner Wednesday & #JusJoJan Daily Prompt – January 3rd, 2018

***

Okay, boisterous is the complete opposite of what I am. I don’t think I’ve ever been boisterous. In the dictionary it says the word means ‘noisy and violent; clamorous. Also, coarse and unrestrained. Yeah, not me at all.

***

One Liner Wednesday is supposed to be something funny or maybe inspirational, and said in one sentence, if possible.

I’ve tried it a time or two. I don’t really like quoting things my family says, as they probably wouldn’t appreciate it, even though it’s sometimes pretty funny.

That leaves me with the problem of how do you think up a one liner?

I don’t usually copy quotes I find on the internet, or even from Pinterest, because there’s the whole deal of finding sources, giving credit, and all kinds of things that make it not fun to do. I see other people do this, but it’s just not for me.

Which brings me back to the main problem…where do you get the one liners from, if not from family or the internet? I’m not good with jokes, or witty sayings, myself, so making something up doesn’t really work.

Well, that’s my thoughts on one liners, which wasn’t a prompt word for today, or a one liner, seeing as I’ve typed way more than one sentence.

JUST JOT IT JANUARY – HISTORY

JUST JOT IT JANUARY – HISTORY jjj-2017

#JusJoJan Daily Prompt – Jan. 29th/17

The Just Jot It January 29th prompt, brought to you by KL Caley of new2writing, is: “History.” Use it any way you’re inspired to. And make sure you stop by and say hi to KL as well! Here’s her blog: https://new2writing.wordpress.com/about-me/

***

Today’s prompt word is ‘history’.

I took history classes in school. It was kind of interesting, but at the time I didn’t really think much about it, besides passing a test on the subjects. All that history from way back when, seemed just like it was a story someone was telling, where you take it or leave it, because it had nothing to do with ‘our’ present day activities. Now I wish I’d paid more attention.

There has been a lot of personal history for each of us. Every second we live, we are making our own timeline we can look back on with fondness or regret. Each of us have our own history unique to ourselves. However, there are many dates in our shared histories, as well. I’ve been around for quite a while, and have some memories of these:

  • the first televised Presidential Debates between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon ( 1960)
  • the assassination of President John F. Kennedy (1963)
  • the televised moon landing, and men walking on the moon (1969)
  • the assassination of John Lennon 1980)
  • Space Shuttle Challenger disaster (1986)
  • Space Shuttle Columbia disaster (2003)
  • the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center 2001)

Most of these are not good news history, but they stand out as most of the world heard about them at the time they happened.

There were many newsworthy and exciting things going on, and making history, too. I remember a time before computers and cell phones were available for general use. There were lots of new ideas in fashion and music. So much history is being made, even today, that we and those that come after us, will look back on.

This song has a lot of history in the lyrics.

SPIDER DANCE – Just Jot It January 2017

Standard

Just Jot It January 2017 jjj-2017

This is a blog challenge where we are to write/post something for each day in January. It’s fun! Join in by clicking the link. 🙂

#JusJoJan Daily Prompt – Jan. 1st/17

***

SPIDER DANCE

Weave your web of love around me

Seduce me with your words, sublime

Silken strands to hold and bind me

Capture me…I’ll call you mine…

Spin your web in sticky spirals

I’ll never want to flee,

Lure me with your lyrics, love…

Come closer…come get me.

Dance with me, my Spider…dance…

Be wanton with your wildness,

Pierce me with your poisonous lance,

Our rebel love is reckless.

***

I wrote this poem back in 2015. I like anything to do with spiders…the way they look, all so different, that they are kind of scary, and that they are beneficial by catching annoying insects. If I see one I try to take a photo of it. I don’t run screaming from the room, and most times I leave them where they are. I do catch spiders sometimes, if they are in the house, releasing it outside.

Here’s a song I like, about a woman and her spider dance. 🙂

The song is called “Lola Montez” by Volbeat. It was based on a true story, of the woman, and her Spider Dance. I just call it the Spider Dance song, because of the lyrics.
