These are just some neon lights featuring beer. There are two blue Bud Light signs in two of the photos, and a red and white Budweiser Beer sign in the last one. There is also a sign saying they are open, in red with a blue circle around it.

“Stars on the Water”, by Jimmy Buffett.

“…Beer light joints come on … Blue light lounge is shinin’ … Night lights shinin’ in …”

Down in Louisiana, bayous by and by
Pirogue pole or your natural soul
Keeps you tied to a tree high tide
Beer joint lights come on
And then the crowd starts rollin’ in
Chorus:
Pretty soon you got stars on the water
You got stars on the water
It’s like stars on the water, let it rain
Beaumont to Biloxi
Sea breeze at your door
Gypsy rains, dang hurricanes
White silver sandy shore
“Blue Light” lounge is shinin’
Way out on the view
Chorus:
It looks just like stars on the water
Just like stars on the water
Just like stars on the water, let it rain
(guitar instrumental)
When it’s midnight down in Mobile
Moonbeams on the bay
They come from miles around to dance the jukebox down
And dig the good time sounds they play
All across the harbour
Night lights shinin’ in
Chorus:
It looks just like stars on the water
Just like stars on the water
Just like stars on the water, let it rain
Chorus:
Pretty soon ya got stars on the water
You got stars on the water
It’s like stars on the water, let it rain

These are photos of my Lava Light. It shows the bloopy stuff gathering and floating around in the bluish tinted water. The balls of bloops are kind of green. Sorry, I don’t know what that stuff inside is called, but bloopy sounds about right. haha 🙂

This song is a fun one I think. It has a bit of a twist from a person just getting down on their knees to proclaim their love, in that even their heart is down on it’s knees – must be a powerful kind of love?

I have no special story about it, but we do have a package deal of several Jimmy Buffett CDs and this song is one of them. I’ve heard it a lot of times, and like most of his songs, it’s a good one.

I always read the articles about a song, and sometimes copy a bit from them, but I don’t really like to do this very much. However, this song I couldn’t find much about it exactly – just about the album and style of music. So here’s what I found out:

From the Wiki Article:

Riddles in the Sand is the thirteenth studio album by American popular music singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett. It was released in September 1984 as MCA 5512 and was produced by noted country music producer Jimmy Bowen and represented a concerted shift toward a more country sound by Buffett. He appeared on the album’s cover in typical country singer garb and promoted the album at Fan Fair country music festival inNashville TN. The album was originally to have been titled Gulf and Western Music[2][3] reflecting the fusion of musical styles seen in much of Buffett’s music often called gulf and western music. In the album’s liner notes, Jim Harrison says, “This album has a musical range expanding in an arc from Bob Wills to Bob Marley with the Gulf somehow always there.”[4]

Riddles in the Sand reached #95 on the Billboard 200 album chart and #18 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

“Knees of My Heart”, by Jimmy Buffett, can be found on his “riddles in the Sand” album, released in 1984. It is on the Geffen label.

I’ve got a question for you
Please grant me an interview
Don’t want to read it in a magazine
Don’t want to see it on the silver screen
Don’t let the craziness tear us apart

I’m down on the knees of my heart
Down here on the knees of my heart

This comes from deep in my soul
Your sweet love has taken control
I’ll swim across the ocean if you tell me so
Take you to the jump up if you want to go
It’s never-y too late to make a brand new start

I’m down on the knees of my heart
Down here on the knees of my heart

Whoa how I will sing
If you give me everything
I live for the day
When there’s nothing in our way

I will be waiting tonight
You’ll find my boat by the light
I’m gonna show you what my love can do
Out on the ocean all alone with you
We’ll find a desert island on an ancient chart

Take me from the knees of my heart
Take me from the knees of my heart
Take me from the knees of my heart

Take me from the knees of my heart
Whoa take me from the knees of my heart
Please take me from the knees of my heart
Whoa oh oh take me from the knees of my heart
Uh buh puh buh puh buh puh
Please from the knees of my heart
Whoa oh oh

For today’s theme, we are to find songs that mentions outer space, stars, moon, sun, or the universe, in any way.]

Thanks, Helen, for the prompt!

I’ve posted several songs in the past that have this theme, so I tried to find a different one or two. 🙂

“Swinging On A Star”

Would you like to swing on a star?
Carry moonbeams home in a jar
And be better off than you are
Or would you rather be a mule?A mule is an animal with long funny ears
Kicks up at anything he hears
His back is brawny but his brain is weak
He’s just plain stupid with a stubborn streak
And by the way, if you hate to go to school
You may grow up to be a muleOr would you like to swing on a star?
Carry moonbeams home in a jar
And be better off than you are
Or would you rather be a pig?A pig is an animal with dirt on his face
His shoes are a terrible disgrace
He has no manners when he eats his food
He’s fat and lazy and extremely rude
But if you don’t care a feather or a fig
You may grow up to be a pigOr would you like to swing on a star?
Carry moonbeams home in a jar
And be better off than you are
Or would you rather be a fish?A fish won’t do anything, but swim in a brook
He can’t write his name or read a book
To fool the people is his only thought
And though he’s slippery, he still gets caught
But then if that sort of life is what you wish
You may grow up to be a fishA new kind of jumped-up slippery fish
And all the monkeys aren’t in the zoo
Every day you meet quite a few
So, you see it’s all up to you
You can be better than you are
You could be swingin’ on a star

51 WEEKS/51 SONGS FROM THE PAST – WEEK 10

51 Weeks: 51 Songs From The Past: Week 10: Whigfield – Saturday Night

***

Here we are at week 10 of the challenge. I somehow missed posting for week 9!

This time I present a song by Jimmy Buffett. It’s called, “Volcano”. This song was released in 1979 on the MCA Label, produced by Norbert Putnam, and written by Jimmy Buffett-Keith Sykes-Harry Dailey. “Volcano” is included on the CD titled “Beaches”, along with other wonderful songs, such as, “Fins”, “Margaritaville”, and “Cheeseburger in Paradise”.

When this album came out, we had bought it on vinyl. We were in Japan at the time, and we and our friends listened to it all the time. Every time we all had a cook-out, which was every few days it seemed, we were all singing along to the words of “Volcano”. I still know all the lyrics, and have to sing along whenever we hear it again. Here’s a photo of our original album, and our pack of 4 CDs.
