Taking a look back at my charm bracelet, to remember what all the little charms were, and for what memories they bring.

To finish up this series of charms, I’m just showing the last ones all at once. It would take so long to do each charm individually, and I wouldn’t want you to get bored with it all. You can enlarge to see better by clicking photo. 🙂

The first photo is a charm bracelet my daughter gave me quite a few years ago. She gifted me all the charms, one at a time, for special occasions. The bracelet, and all the charms, are  from the wonderful jeweler James Avery. There are 11 charms attached and one that hasn’t been added on yet. They are:

  • 2 people (I think for my daughter and me)
  • Texas with a star
  • Cat
  • Letter F (for my grand-son’s name)
  • Penguin
  • Bell
  • Horse
  • Snowflake
  • Hummingbird
  • Heart
  • Ladybug
  • Orange bead

The second photo is one bracelet I made myself. It has little charms I liked on a chain I got at the craft store. They are:

  • Tiger
  • Imagine amulet
  • Dog
  • Clock
  • Cat
  • Cat

The third photo is of a long necklace I made, using a chain from the craft store, and lots of charm doo-dads from things I found around here. I wanted it to be clunky and junky, you know, the more the better. I’ve worn this at times, when we go someplace, and get lots of comments and interest in it. To mention a few of the items, there are:

  • Parts of earrings
  • Photo key chain bit
  • Engraved shamrock I got at the fair when I was a kid
  • Diary keys
  • Safety pin with part of my name in beads
  • Good luck penny I wire wrapped
  • Parts of other necklaces & bracelets

That’s about all for the charms, unless I forgot some. Hope you’ve enjoyed seeing them. 🙂

These next 3 charms on my bracelet are from when we lived in Germany, back in 1972.

There is Furth, which is the town we lived in. It is in the state of Bavaria, and is right next to Nuremberg.

The 2nd charm is from Garmisch/Partenkirchen. It is a ski resort in Bavaria.

Last is one from Zugspitze. This is located by the town of Garmisch, up in the mountains. It is the highest peak in Germany, at 9,718 ft. (2,962 m). We rode a cable car up to the top, where there was a gift shop. We also walked out onto a frozen solid lake. It was so cold, I couldn’t even feel my feet.

These two charms are to commemorate our engagement and wedding. The one with wedding bells is engraved on the back with the date we got married.

This first photo is I think a cute mouse or rat. I’m not real sure if I bought it, or if it was given to me. I’m more leaning to it was given to me by my very good friend. This was back in high school. You know when you meet someone for the first time, and it seems you’ve known each other forever? That’s how it was, and we both felt it. Could it have been we knew each other in a former life? We thought so.  It is engraved on the back with the letters, “BC”, which is for her name. Why a mouse/rat? I have no idea now, but it must have meant something back then.

The second photo is a bat. I remember I bought this when my family visited Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. I’ve been there a couple of times, and it is an amazing cave. So, of course I had to have a charm of a bat.

Here are the three school pennants and a charm ring I have on my bracelet. The first one is for my Jr. High, Alderson, which I attended from 7th through 9th grade. The colors of the school were blue and gold, and the mascot was the Hornet.

The next one is for my high school, Lubbock High, which I attended for my 10th grade year. The colors were black and gold, and the mascot was the Westerner.

The next is a ring for my next high school, Estacado, which I attended for 11th and 12th grade. The colors were blue and silver, and the mascot was the Matador. (sorry it didn’t show up very good)

The last one is for a school I never attended at all. It is just a charm for the town my husband’s parents lived in, Clarksville, TX. I guess I couldn’t find one other than this to represent the town.

These next two charms are to symbolize my music.

There is the Treble Clef, and Violin.

I’m not real sure that is a violin, but I guess that’s as close as could be found to buy at the time.

I played violin in the school orchestra from 6th grade through the 10th grade. We did concerts, and competitions. I enjoyed it, and still have my original violin, which I do get out and play now and again.
