Escapist Coloring Club – October

The Escapist Coloring Club Prompt – October 1, 2018

I seem to have missed posting my coloring pages in September, so here we are already into October.

It’s been awhile since I’ve added any more new ones, but I did finish the giraffe, and started on the lion.

I’m still using the twist up colored pencils, which I do like.

For the giraffe, I did some of the larger spots in different designs to make it look interesting. I did mess up one, though. I started doing a design that didn’t turn out very good, so I erased it, then tried to do some shading to cover up the mess up. Still looks a little wrong, but that’s how this coloring thing goes when you do what you can to be creative.

And, as Bob Ross, the painter says…

“We don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents.”

Hello! I’m a giraffe made of plaster. I don’t think I have a name, other than giraffe. What would be a good name for me? I used to be painted a dull brown and yellow, with parts flaking off. Then one day, I found myself being tossed away! I was scheduled to be sold at a yard sale. I guess they didn’t love me anymore? Anyway, the nice lady adopted me, taking me to her house. Actually, I didn’t get sold, because it was the nice lady’s sister who was having the yard sale. She just gave me to the nice lady. That was the best day of my life.

The nice lady took me home, dusted me off, and gave me a new coating of paint. I like the cool red and white paint she chose for me. I was tired of being a boring, not quite a real giraffe’s color. I think it suits me. I also got blue eyes! 🙂 Sometimes at Christmas time, I get a festive red bow tied around my neck! Fancy, huh?

Most days, you might call me the ‘guard giraffe’, as I camp out by the front door, keeping watch on things. I take my job seriously. I’m always up for a bit of fun, though. Like today…the photo shoot that had me traveling to the bedroom by the window, for the best lighting, which emphasized my red markings. I hope I live here with the nice lady for a long, long time.

A to Z BLOG CHALLENGE – LETTER J

Standard

A to Z BLOG CHALLENGE – LETTER J 4bd62ad9-ea74-4273-967b-7c426c911c61 IMG_2349

Today’s letter to write something about is J.

~

Letter J is for…Janis Joplin

Janis Joplin, an American singer/songwriter, was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on January 19, 1943. She died on October 4, 1970. During the mid 60s, she performed her unique style of singing the blues, and rock, with the band, Big Brother and the Holding Company. To the public, she was often called the Queen of Psychedelic Soul, but to her friends, she was Pearl. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.  A couple of her well-known songs were “Piece of My Heart”, and “Me and Bobby McGee”.

Letter J is for…Journals/Journaling

Chances are, if you like to write, you’ve bought a journal, or even lots of journals over the years. I know I have. It’s hard to resist a new book of blank pages, just waiting for me to fill in with my thoughts, doodling, and miscellaneous notes and reminders. Pretty much anything can become a journal. A regular spiral notebook or composition book works just fine. If you want to, you can get really pretty and fancy books, too, as there are as many types as there are people who keep a journal. You can call them diaries, day planners, travel logs, or anything you feel suits your mood. Have fun with your own personal journal. Here’s a photo of just some of mine. 🙂

A to Z BLOG CHALLENGE 2016 – LETTER G

Standard

A to Z BLOG CHALLENGE 2016 – LETTER G 4bd62ad9-ea74-4273-967b-7c426c911c61 IMG_2344

Today we have the letter G to write something about.

I probably could have said a lot about Ghosts, but I talk about them all the time. I have something else in mind. Hope you enjoy! 🙂

~

Mostly, I was thinking about songs from the 60s and 70s that start with the letter G. There are lots of them that we used to sing along to back then. Here’s a small list of some…

  1. “Give Me That Old Time Rock and Roll” by Bob Seger (1979)
  2. “Gloria” by Them (1964)
  3. “Green-Eyed Lady” by Sugarloaf (1970)
  4. “Groovin'” by the Young Rascals (1967)

~

And now, I’d like to introduce a new member of the Mystery Box Chickens group…Meet Grab Bag Giraffe! You’ll see him around from time to time. 🙂

Giraffe joins the chickens!

A few facts about giraffes are…

  1. They are the tallest animal
  2. Giraffes and humans have interacted for millennia
  3. Salvadore Dali painted them in his surrealist art
  4. They’ve been painted and drawn on rock walls, called petroglyphs
  5. In the year 1414, a giraffe was taken to the Ming Dynasty Zoo, by explorer Zheng He
  6. A giraffe named ‘Sophie’ is a cute toy baby teether these days
  7. Toys ‘R’ Us has a giraffe mascot named Geoffrey

Giraffes are pretty cool animals…one of my favorites! 🙂

We’ll see what he has in his grab bag for tomorrow, too!
