ONE WORD PHOTO CHALLENGE – FOREGROUND & WEEKLY WEATHER – HUMID

This Week’s Challenges: May 14 – 20 (OWPC & WW)

***

This week for these two challenges, we are to find photos of something in the foreground of the picture, and a photo of humid. I’m not sure how a photo can look humid. Well, let’s see what I can come up with here with the photos. 🙂

***

For the foreground photos…

Here’s a flower, a tree, and more flowers with a hummingbird (this was at Ft. Davis TX).

For the humid photos…

Then, there’s a picture of some early morning fog. (the light is a street light), a foggy photo my friend sent me, because I didn’t have any at the time, and a tree with a bird. I think it was probably a bit humid the day I took that photo. I know it was very hot out there. 🙂

My First Request!

My First Request!

***

I have had a request!

I was asked by a blogging friend if I had some photos of the Big Bend area of Texas, since I’d visited there a few years ago. I was happy to say that, yes I did, and I would post some for her to see.

Thanks for asking, Suzanne! It’s my pleasure!

You can find Suzanne at her wonderful blog, called McClendon Villa, by clicking this link. I know you would enjoy her blog very much. https://mcclendonvilla.wordpress.com/about/

These photos are part of the Big Bend area in far south-west Texas. These are from the Ft. Davis surroundings. Other nearby towns included in this area that we visited (not pictured) were Alpine, Marfa, Balmorhea, and Monahans. They all are within driving distance of each other and have their own unique sights to see. Just google those towns to find out about them. There are professional photos and write ups about their attractions.

Hope you enjoy the photos! 🙂

Thanks to Tildy, of  The Beespeak (Life Lessons From the Beeline), for inviting me to join in the fun. Her blog and lovely photos can be found here . If you’d like to post some nature pictures, feel free to do so, and title it the same.

SEVEN DAYS OF NATURE CHALLENGE – DAY 4

Thank you, Tildy, for inviting me to take part in the Seven Days of Nature Challenge. We are to post once every day, a photo of something from nature, for seven days. This can be birds, insects, trees, flowers, etc. To see the lovely pictures on Tildy’s blog, please visit her at The Beespeak (Life Lessons for the Beeline)  here

Today we have some birds. The seagulls were plentiful, flying all around us, as we had fun on the beach. It was on Mustang Island, which is at Port Aransas TX (by Corpus Christi, and the Gulf of Mexico). Not sure what kind they are.

The dove I took a photo of was in our garage. He stayed there for a long time. We finally had to shoo him out, so we could close the garage door.

The yellow birds (don’t know what kind they are) I photographed at Ft. Davis, TX. They had a bird watching station, with feeders all around. If you ever get a chance to visit, Ft. Davis is awesome. There is wildlife everywhere (the tarantula from yesterday), javalinas, black bears, deer, and I thought I saw a chupacabra, but probably was a wild raccoon, but it was the middle of the night and out in the courtyard of our hotel, Indian Lodge. The hummingbirds are really cool to watch up close, too! 🙂

SHARE YOUR WORLD – WEEK # 3

SHARE YOUR WORLD – WEEK # 3sywbanner

Today I’ll be answering the questions from Cee’s “Share Your World – Week # 3”   http://ceenphotography.com/2016/01/18/share-your-world-2016-week-3/

I’m also posting this for Linda’s “Just Jot It January” challenge.   http://lindaghill.com/2016/01/19/just-jot-it-january-19th-climate/

Q1 – What’s your favorite piece of art?

I like all kinds of art. I appreciate that anyone can create a piece of art, whether it is simple, or elaborate. It could be a painting, a sculpture, poetry, prose, crafts, or mixed-media, and if it makes me feel an emotion, I love it. Three artists I admire are…Khalil Chishtee (creates amazing sculptures using plastic bags – my favorite of these is called “Pursuit”), Kristen Cummings (creates portraits using jelly beans, and are astounding), and Claire Duguid (portrait artist who’s art is incredible). I wanted to post a picture of each, but not sure of copyrights.

Q2 – What made you smile today?

It was a day of no big laughs, but I’m sure I smiled at something, if only that the sun was shining and it was a bit warmer.

Q3 – Which place do you recommend as a Must-See? Please state which country, state, province, etc.

One place I recommend is Fort Davis, TX. I really want to go again. It is in south west Texas, close to the Big Bend area. There is a place to stay, called Indian Lodge, camping area, nature trails, and there is the old Fort itself, visitor center, bird watching opportunities, black bears, deer, and javalina to be seen. It is also right near the MacDonald Observatory, one of the largest telescopes in the world. There are ‘star parties’ and gift shops.  The area also, is close to Marfa, Texas, where you can observe the Marfa Lights. We saw these and they are very spooky. And, the climate is great, being warm to hot in the summer, and receives an occasional rain shower, and a dusting of snow in the winter.IMG_2049-0IMG_2048IMG_2050-0

Here’s a link to read more about these:

Q4 – Complete this sentence…When I was younger, I used to…

I used to like riding amusement part rides, but not anymore. They make me too dizzy!
