This is a post I had on September 10, 2015. I think it was a writing assignment called, ‘Writing 101 – Photograph Inspiration’. We were to look at the provided photo, and write something about it. Here’s what I wrote, and it had a few views and likes (maybe 5?) Anyway, here it is again – enjoy! 🙂

WRITING 101 … PHOTOGRAPH INSPIRATION

Today, the 4th assignment, we were shown 4 pictures, all interesting. We were to pick one to write whatever we wanted to about the picture, in whatever style you wanted. Here is my interpretation of this picture, in a short fiction piece.

ABANDONEDGOMY9CQSvmjKLxigsfxg_Attic

The late summer’s, afternoon sun has made the attic room at the top of the stairs unbearably hot. I’m already sweating from climbing the rickety, wooden stairs…upward into that sauna of an attic room.

Pausing in the doorway, I take a long look around. There’s nothing much to see…an unadorned window, framed in weathered wood, the slanted wall boards, giving this area of the room a tri-angular shape.

There is no hint in daylight of what is to come at nightfall.

I make my way back down the narrow stairway, taking note of the steps that creak. I must remember not to step on them later. The house is over a hundred years old…now abandoned in it’s declining years. There are spider webs in the shadowy corners, and dust particles make me sneeze. I must remember to wear a mask, when I return.

Sweat now trickles down my forehead, and my t-shirt is soaked. There are signs of mice living here…the only living creatures, besides the spiders, to call this place their home. I hear a skittering behind a wall, and smile. I’m not afraid of the mice. They’ll keep me company tonight, as I search for the abandoned souls of the dead.

For I am a ghost hunter…this is what I do.

This is one I posted way back on September 17, 2013. It’s not exactly the same date as today, but close enough, I think.

DID I SAY THAT?

Just a funny story that happened at the grocery store.

My husband and I were going up and down the aisles of the grocery store commenting about this and that item.   At one point we were standing there by the racks of plastic wraps, foils, etc.   I asked did he know if we needed those bags…”you know, those sucky bags.”  He was confused about which ones I meant, of course, but he is used to trying to figure out what I’m trying to say, because what I say and what I’m thinking of sometimes are not the same thing.
I keep trying to think of the actual name of the plastic bags, but it isn’t coming to me, so I keep saying , “You know, those sucky bags, the one you suck the air out of.”  Finally, he figures out I mean the vacuum kind, where there is an air pump that you, yes, suck the air out after the bag is sealed, to keep the food fresher in the freezer.

We did need some of those, so added a package of them to our basket and went on our way.
However, while we were standing there talking about the sucky bags, there was a guy kneeling down restocking the nearby shelves.  He had overheard our conversation and was totally laughing!  We heard him loud and clear, but since we were already so far into it, there was no turning back.  We acknowledged his good natured laughter with our own.  My  husband then uttered his most frequent line to me, “You’re killing me!”

As chances would have it I encountered the shelf stocker several more times before we left the store, as I had forgotten some items and had to backtrack to get them.   Every time I passed by, he would say hi and ask if I needed help in finding anything else.  I’d just smile and tell him, no, everything is fine, I can find what I’m looking for now.

So, anyway, we finished our shopping, but I’m still laughing over it, and I’m glad we gave the shelf stocker a laugh.   He probably went home and told his family and friends the “sucky bag” story!

Peace, Love, & Laughter

WAS THIS HOUSE HAUNTED?

My Grandma’s house always had a spooky feeling to it.   As a kid, my cousin and I would spend the night over there in the back bedroom……even though we were scared of that room.   It felt like something was watching us from up in the NW corner of the ceiling.   One night we heard what we swore were babies crying in the living room, so we sneaked in there to have a look.   The room was dim, but no lights were on.  What we saw was the old rocking chair just rocking back and forth, with no one in it.   Could this have been a ghost, rocking a ghost baby?   I don’t know, but that’s what we believed. There were many more strange things happened in that house.
I will tell more in later posts!

And a little more about it in a later post:

GE DIGITAL CAMERA

Here’s a picture of the house today. It looks like a regular old house, doesn’t it? I don’t know who lives there now, but I always wonder if they have weird things happen in there like we used to, all those years ago. It looks about the same as when my grandparents lived there.

My next post will tell more about the creepy things I felt in and around the garage, which is over to the right, and back a bit.

Hope you’re enjoying hearing about my paranormal experiences!
