The Escapist Coloring Club Prompt – August 1, 2019

I would say I’m a fan of coloring books, and always have been.

When I was a kid, I was always coloring, then later on I’d color in books my kids had, and now they have coloring books for grown-ups. They are all fun and have interesting designs and pictures.

I do have a lot of them … whole drawers full of them, and can’t resist getting more whenever I see one. Some I get from the stores that sell them, and some I get from yard sales.

I don’t limit myself to the so called ‘adult’ type coloring books, either. I still like the simple children’s type of coloring books, too. Sometimes I get tired of the teeny tiny designs in the current fad, and just want a larger area to color in, and maybe add my own shadings and designs within the larger parts.

I use regular crayons, colored pencils, and markers to fill in the spaces, depending on how I want it to look. All in all, it’s a fun hobby, and also relaxing.

Here’s a few pages I’ve colored in the past:

Here’s some of my key chain collection. I know I have more somewhere, just didn’t want to dig them out.

There are so many interesting ones you can get, and pretty much about any subject or topic.

There are those you can purchase at concerts, and museums. You can find them for sale at airport gift shops in all cities (along with magnets), and tourist attraction sites. There are give-away key chains, too, that companies hand out. There are useful ones, such as bottle openers, and hooks to hang on a lady’s purse.

Whatever you’re interested in you can probably find a key chain for it.

  • shiny blue key that is also a bottle opener
  • a plastic orange advertising one shaped like the number one
  • a red and yellow electric guitar with flames (the ring is broken off on this one)
  • a Ninja? with a red mask on, and wearing white outfit

***

  • Concert key chain from Miranda Lambert (her picture)
  • Concert key chain from the Dixie Chicks (black with gold letters)

***

  • a silver coffin keychain
  • a silver dog whistle

***

  • Souvenir key chain from Roswell NM (red & white – words say ‘do not enter – use of deadly force authorized – Area 51)
  • Silver UFO and alien with words Roswell 1947

***

  • Silver and turquoise hook key chain to hang on my purse (makes keys easy to find)

I’m a fan of handwriting. I like to write everything down in all kinds of notebooks, and have a lot of them.

I don’t know how those handwriting experts can tell things about a person by looking at their handwriting, though. I guess there’s some science to it. I know for me, I like to try writing different ways. It also depends on if I’m writing in a hurry, jotting something down, or going slowly trying to make it look pretty. It also makes a difference with what you use to write with, be it a marker, a ball-point pen, an old fashioned ink pen, or pencils.

I remember I got into trouble at school once, I think it was 5th grade, because I tended to slant my writing toward the left instead of to the right, like the books said you were supposed to. Whatever…I didn’t change how I wrote after that, either.

I do believe every person’s handwriting style is unique to them. I know I’ve gotten letters and such from people and immediately know who it from just by seeing the handwriting. I’ll bet you have, too. 🙂

Here’s some samples of mine:

Well, I have to admit I’m a fan of cute refrigerator magnets. These novelty magnets are fun to collect. I get them from the places we travel to, as they are easy to bring back home since they are small, and do remind me of where we have been.

I also get magnets at yard sales if I can find them. I don’t care if I’ve never been to whatever places they come from either. They are just cute and I like them.

I’ve bought huge bags of them for very little money, and it’s fun to sort through them. Some I put on my refrigerator, and will switch them out from time to time.

I’ve also received magnets as gifts when someone I know has gone visiting a place. They are a souvenir trinket for me.

I have probably a hundred or more of them. This is not counting the word poetry magnet tiles I have, which is a lot, too.

I like collecting novelty salt & pepper shakers.

These are two different ones, but basically the same. Both have little animals clinging to what is supposed to be a tree branch (labeled S on one end of a sign, and P on the other end.

The first one has two little bear cubs, and the second one has two little squirrels.  All are in brown and tan colors.

I’m a fan of hand fans! I like collecting all kinds. Most are made of paper and wood, and some I have are plastic and fabric.

This one is a US flag inspired fan of red, white, & blue, with white stars on blue background on the top layer.
