As usual, when the topic is so wide open, and there are so many ways to go with it, I come to a stand-still. Too  many choices to know what to do.

There are actual dreams we have when we are asleep, with all kinds of maybe meanings of them.

There are dreams and hopes for what we do in our life.

There are visions and day-dreams, and on and on …

I’ve kept dream journals for years. Even when I was a kid, I’d write down what dream I had in the night. I have many, many of these journals. It’s fun to look back and read about them. Most are strange, some felt real, and some I could connect to whatever had been going on in the days previously.

I never dug deep to find out any special meanings, though.

I still have dreams at night, but for some reason the memory of them disappear when I wake up.

I’ve had a few actual visions – a scene that I’ve had while awake, and then they turn out to be true.

I’ve had shared dreams – where my dream and my daughter’s dream have coincided at the same time.

Dreams are a strange phenomena, and so interesting. I like to think of them as ‘mind movies’. You never know if it will be a love story, a drama, or a nightmare horror story.

I believe that at times, our loved ones who have passed on come to us in our dreams. That’s always nice.

Anyway, I’ll wish you all sweet dreams, and leave you with this little song.

Dreamscape Stories # 2

Dreamscape Stories # 2

I was making a scrapbook page, and it was to be about a lady named Dorothy (?).  I wasn’t sure that was even her real name, but it sounded okay. I was thinking it was my Granny’s daughter. I’d only heard about her maybe once before, because she died before I was even born.

I was trying to figure out who she was to me, so I guessed an aunt, because the other daughters were my aunts. My daddy’s sister would be my aunt, right? Anyway, the scrapbook page was pretty.

I had put nylon or chiffon fabric on the top of the page, like a curtain. It was white, or a very light pink. As I was hot gluing the name on the page with colored glue (pink), I kept worrying about the name, and if it was the right one.

Suddenly, there was a lady in the room with me. She looked like a fairy godmother, so I asked her should I put ‘Dorothy – Heaven’ as the title. This was because she’d died a long time ago, and I figured she lived in Heaven now. The fairy godmother lady said it looked good, and besides, it was like the opposite side page in the scrapbook. That was the one I did for the kids, and it’s title was ‘Playground’, and that, to me, meant Heaven. I’d hot glued little flowers on the gathered up curtain fabric, too. I kept trying to get it all to stick.

Dreamscape Stories # 1

Dreamscape Stories # 1

The big, white ducks were caterwauling out in the garden, you know, like cats having a fight.

Crumbling whole wheat bread for them to eat, and maybe get them to shut up, I went out there to see what was up.

Being it was late at night, I took the yellow flashlight with me, the one that is possessed. Why I took that one, I don’t know. Strange things happen with that one. It has a way of turning itself on and off by itself.

Come to find out, the ducks didn’t want the bread. They were assembled out there to be first in line for the initiation ceremony I’d planned. I managed to get them settled down, and lined up in a duck row, like they do, and we bobble headed our way out of the garden. And, that was that. Quiet reclaimed the night.

For a fact, I remember turning off the flashlight when we were done with the ceremony. Later, at 11:15 a. m. I found that it had turned itself on, again!

The Friendly Fill-Ins is a weekly post challenge. There are questions we are to answer by filling in the blanks. 🙂 Join in and see other entries by clicking the above link.

Here are the fill-ins:

  1. A prop from a TV show or film I would like to own is _____________________________________.
  2. My oldest friendship is ___________________________.
  3. Whenever I ________________, I always _____________.
  4. The best ___________________ is ___________________.

  1. A prop from a TV show or film I would like to own is from the TV show “Roswell”. I’d like to own the Crash Down Diner. This is a diner set, where all the characters tend to meet up to discuss their adventures of the day.
  2. My oldest friendship is a woman who has been my friend since before we were even in school. Our mothers were friends before we were born. She lives in another city now, but we are still able to keep up with each other through emails and texting.
  3. Whenever I sleep, I always, or most always, dream fantastic dreams. I remember most of them, in detail, and have many, many journals that I have written the dreams down. Some are pages long, and some even have drawings I’ve done of the dreams.
  4. The best feeling in the world is having my grandchildren give me hugs, and say they love me. ❤

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Oct. 15/16

Today’s Stream of Consciousness topic is ‘screen’.

The first thing that comes to mind for me when I see/hear that word is an old fashioned screen door. I wish I had one here, but we only have the glass storm doors.

The second thing I think of is ‘screen memories’. These are memories you have that aren’t quite real. They are planted into your subconscious for some reason, to hide what event really happened. Maybe that is so you won’t find out the truth, or become afraid that something happened to you that was so traumatic you don’t want to remember.

I believe I’ve had quite a a few of these over many years, beginning when I was just a little kid. I’d sneak out to stare at the night sky, the stars, and look for UFOs. I was too young to even know what a UFO was, but I felt a calling from somewhere, to go and look. I still feel that sort of yearning to, I don’t know, go home? Sounds silly, kinda like the movie E.T., but this was real for me, back in the early 1950s, long before that movie was made.

The thing about screen memories is, you remember something, in a way that feels like it really happened that way, but it’s just a little odd, a little off. Some say you might remember an owl, or rabbit, or something like that, in a totally wrong situation. I’ve written down my dreams for years and years, and this comes up quite often. Rabbits feature a lot in my memories. I’ve read that it could be a suspicious screen memory for missing time. I’ve had that happen, too. You tell someone about what you thought happened, but no one remembers it ever happening, or that something happened that way. The thing is, they are not really just dreams. These things happened, but you remember them as having had a dream, with some of the facts altered.

Anyway, you may think this is all a bunch of ‘BS’ … hah my initials! … but that’s how it is for me with the screen memories, and the prompt for the day, screen. 🙂

This is the 25th day of NaBloPoMo, which you can find out about here

It is also the 25th day of NanoPoblano (the tiny Peppers) which is here

Today’s post is the 3rd Day of the 3 Quotes in 3 Days Challenge

The rules are:

Thank the one who nominated you for the challenge and link back to them

Find a quote to post, each day, for 3 days in a row, and write a little about it

Post the rules on your blog, and nominate 3 others (and let them know)

This has been a fun challenge, and I’d like to thank Yinglan again for nominating me. She writes a wonderful blog, and can be found here

In turn, I nominate You…anyone who would like to take part in a fun challenge!

EDGAR ALLAN POE – January 19, 1809 – October 7, 1849…

Poet, Writer, Editor, and Literary Critic

By this quote it would seem that you should pay attention to your day-dreams. Allow yourself to wonder, to wander through your dreams, without distractions of modern technology. Just be quiet, sit still, and let your thoughts drift through your mind. You’ve heard of free-writing…this is the same, just let your subconscious lead you, for a change. You will be surprised at what comes to mind…maybe silly, maybe an answer to a problem, and at the very least, an interlude of peace from the bombardment of everyday trials. I would say day-dreaming is good for your soul.

NABLOPOMO – # 7 – I HAD A DREAMNaBloPoMo_2015untitled

Have you ever had a dream, from out of the blue, and you have no idea why? Sometimes you can look back and see what has happened that day, or in the past,  or a  future anticipation of something. Then those other ones that pop into your head, seem at random, and you have no idea why you’re suddenly dreaming about it. Well, I get these quite often. So…here’s what happened with my latest one.

I had a dream, last night, about a small town here in Texas. The name of the town is Seguin. I have never been there, nor do I know anyone that lives there. I have not recently heard anything about this town on the news, or in reading, or hearing anyone mention it. So why would it come to me in a dream?

In the dream, I was trying to tell someone how to pronounce it. Was it Se-quin? Was it Saw-geen? Was it Sah-gwin? Was it Saw-gween? Well, they tried all those ways to say the name of the town. I kept telling them it was actually pronounced Se-gheen. They never did get it, and then I woke up.

So, today, while my husband and I were having breakfast, at a restaurant, I brought it up. I asked him did he know anyone that lives there, or had he heard that town mentioned lately. He said no, why? I just said, “I had a dream.”

Now, I didn’t say it any special dramatic way, as in “I had a dreeeam!” I didn’t stand up and shout it. The look he gave me was what cracked me up, though. Now, he’s used to me telling about silly dreams, as I always do, and I do keep dream journals. I have so many of these, and the dreams I wrote down, as remembered, are all kinds of weird and strange.

Anyway, I started laughing, and couldn’t even tell the rest of it, yet. But, finally managed to choke out the pronunciation part of it, and kept laughing. I was laughing so hard, I was crying, and my mascara was running. He was still looking at me, like…this wasn’t funny at all, which of course, made it funnier to me. Even the people at the next table was laughing, at the way I was laughing, I guess…or they thought I was possessed or something? I did finally calm down.

So, why do some things strike a person so funny, when it really isn’t? I have no idea. But, I love having big laughs like that, wherever I am. Another thing…about dreams…which I always am aware of, or think about…was the dream some sort of premonition of a future happening in this town, either good or bad? Was it a foretelling of some situation there? I know I’ve had those kinds of dreams before, and only in hindsight do I realize that, hey, I knew something was going to happen, just not when, or where, or to who.

I don’t know, and won’t know, unless in the next little while, I hear of something happening in or around the small Texas town of Seguin. (if anyone reading this lives around there, be watchful for something about to happen, and let me know if it does)

What are your thoughts on dreams?

WRITING 101 … HOOK ‘EM WITH A QUOTEcropped-seal_v2-03

Today, we were tasked with writing anything we wanted to, but to first find a quote we liked, and put it in a block quote. This is done by using the quote symbols up above this writing screen on my blog. Ok, here goes, let’s see if it works. 🙂

~All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream~Edgar Allan Poe

~They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night~Edgar Allan Poe

In 9th grade, I wrote an English essay about Edgar Allan Poe, after reading his poems, essays, and short stories, all those years ago. I’ve been fascinated with his life (born in Boston, MA on January 19, 1809), and death (October 7, 1849) for as long as I can remember.

I believe the dark subject matters he wrote about caught my interest because I’ve been aware of strange things in the world, from a very young age. I’ve written of some of the things I’ve experienced. You may want to read these…they are in the menu section of this blog, under ‘Ghosts and all Weird Things’. I think it all began because my grandmother lived in a haunted house, which I’ve written about. Strange and difficult to ignore, or explain incidents still happen from time to time.

The above quotes are about dreams. Poe writes a lot about dreams. They are pretty strange, and makes me think deeper about what is a dream state and what is reality. There are so many ‘what if’ questions. What if this life we are living is nothing but a dream state we are in, while we are living another ‘real life’ somewhere else…maybe in another dimension? That’s just one conundrum.

I’m sure everyone has wondered where their dreams come from. There are dream analysis books, of course, that try to decipher the meanings of dream subjects, but I think that’s just someone’s opinion, right or wrong.

I have many dream journals that I’ve written. I like to keep them and read them later. Some are funny and bizarre, some are scary, and some must be just a way of dealing with whatever has been going on in my life. They are all interesting. Another time I may get all philosophical about ‘day dreams’.

So, Poe’s thoughts about dreams resonates strongly with me.

What about you? Do you remember and write down what you’ve dreamed about, during the long, dark hours of night?

P.S. After trying over and over, I couldn’t get the block quote to work at all. Sorry.
