Bird Weekly – Photo Challenge – Short Legged Birds

***

Here are some of the short legged birds I’ve seen:

  • Seagulls – seen at the beach at Corpus Christi TX
  • Yellow & black birds at a feeder at Ft. Davis TX
  • Dove (or maybe a Grackle) standing on a swing railing (our front yard)
  • Red breasted robin in our tree in the front yard
  • Grackle standing on a water bowl (with piece of cat food in it’s mouth) on our back porch

While scrolling through my photos, I noticed I have a lot of blurry birds.

I like watching the birds that come to our feeders, but if I go out in the back yard, they fly away before I can take a picture. Most all the time I’m looking out the back glass storm door, so the photos don’t turn out all that good, but for some reason I kind of like them anyway.

The red cardinal was pretty neat. We hardly ever see one around here, so I had to be quick getting his picture.

Red cardinal & a little grayish bird sitting on honeysuckle vine ( not many green leaves)

A flurry of blue and white blurry birds, flapping their wings above the bird bath (feeder) I don’t know why they look blue (they are just regular doves)

I think this is a cardinal, but it is winter time, and the photo is very shadowy. He’s sitting in the bird bath feeder.

A dove and a sparrow by the feeder in the snow.

A gray dove and a reddish colored finch sitting on the long tube hanging feeder.

SEVEN DAYS OF NATURE CHALLENGE – DAY 4

Thank you, Tildy, for inviting me to take part in the Seven Days of Nature Challenge. We are to post once every day, a photo of something from nature, for seven days. This can be birds, insects, trees, flowers, etc. To see the lovely pictures on Tildy’s blog, please visit her at The Beespeak (Life Lessons for the Beeline)  here

Today we have some birds. The seagulls were plentiful, flying all around us, as we had fun on the beach. It was on Mustang Island, which is at Port Aransas TX (by Corpus Christi, and the Gulf of Mexico). Not sure what kind they are.

The dove I took a photo of was in our garage. He stayed there for a long time. We finally had to shoo him out, so we could close the garage door.

The yellow birds (don’t know what kind they are) I photographed at Ft. Davis, TX. They had a bird watching station, with feeders all around. If you ever get a chance to visit, Ft. Davis is awesome. There is wildlife everywhere (the tarantula from yesterday), javalinas, black bears, deer, and I thought I saw a chupacabra, but probably was a wild raccoon, but it was the middle of the night and out in the courtyard of our hotel, Indian Lodge. The hummingbirds are really cool to watch up close, too! 🙂
