July Squares # 17 – Blue – Stacked Spools

July Blues

***

This is a month of blue! It’s a fun challenge created by Becky of “The Life of B”, and each day we show something blue. The only rule beside blue, is that the photo MUST be SQUARE!

As an added bonus, I’ve found songs with blue in the title or lyrics, or at least something to do with the photo. 🙂

Thanks, Becky!

These sky blue wooden spools are stacked one on top of the other. In between are colorful striped blankets, and there is a silver pot of ferns on the very top.

It was another outdoor decoration at the boutique shop (yesterday’s post). It is in the corner of a brick wall.

First is the square photo, and then the photo of the whole stack.

Today’s Song Lyric Sunday, Helen has asked us to find songs with color! This was easy, right? Wrong…there are so many songs with color in the titles and lyrics, it’s mind-boggling. Within a few minutes I’d thought of and wrote down around 30, without even looking for any! Now, I had to choose one, or two, like I do, and I liked all of them. Anyway, here’s my picks for today. Enjoy!

Blue, navy blue
I’m as blue as I can be
‘Cause my steady boy said, “Ship ahoy”
And joined the Navy

He said he wanted to settle down
And let me be his girl
But first he had to do a little travelin’ around
And see the whole wide world

That’s why I’m blue, navy blue
I’m as blue as I can be
‘Cause my steady boy said, “Ship ahoy”
And joined the Navy

I got a letter yesterday from Tokyo
And a souvenir
A walky-talky wind-up little China doll
That says, “Wish you were here”

Blue, navy blue
I’m as blue as I can be
‘Cause my steady boy said, “Ship ahoy”
And joined the Navy

He’s comin’ home to see me on a weekend pass
A forty-eight hour day-ate
That boat he’s sailin’ on just better get here fast
‘Cause I can hardly wait

Till then I’m blue, navy blue
I’m as blue as I can be
‘Cause my steady boy said, “Ship ahoy”
And joined the Navy

Blue, navy blue
I’m as blue as I can be
‘Cause my steady boy said, “Ship ahoy”
And joined the Navy

He said he wanted to settle down
And let me be his girl
But first he had to do a little travelin’ around
And see the whole wide world

That’s why I’m blue, navy blue
I’m as blue as I can be
‘Cause my steady boy said, “Ship ahoy”
And joined the Navy

I got a letter yesterday from Tokyo
And a souvenir
A walky-talky wind-up little China doll
That says, “Wish you were here”

Blue, navy blue
I’m as blue as I can be
‘Cause my steady boy said, “Ship ahoy”
And joined the Navy

He’s comin’ home to see me on a weekend pass
A forty-eight hour day-ate

Till then I’m blue, navy blue
I’m as blue as I can be

Drop your silver in my tambourine
Help a poor man fill his pretty dream
Give me pennies I’ll take anything
Now listen while I play
My green tambourine

Watch the jingle jangle start to chime
Reflections of the music that is mine
When you drop a coin you’ll hear it sing
Now listen while I play
My green tambourine

Drop a dime before I walk away
Any song you want I’ll gladly play
Money feeds my music machine
Now listen while I play
My green tambourine
