July Squares # 26 –  Blue – Midnight Blue Alien

A Friend’s Blues

This is a month of blue! It’s a fun challenge created by Becky of “The Life of B”, and each day we show something blue. The only rule beside blue, is that the photo MUST be SQUARE!

As an added bonus, I’ve found songs with blue in the title or lyrics, or at least something to do with the photo. 🙂

Thanks, Becky!

This is my coffee cup. I drink my coffee from this midnight blue coffee cup with a white alien face on it. It also says Roswell New Mexico. That’s where I bought it when we visited Roswell and the UFO Museum.  It’s kind of hard to see here, but on the midnight blue sky cup, there are tiny white stars. (click on photo to enlarge)

This one, “Midnight in the Desert”, written and sung by Crystal Gayle, is just a beautiful song. I like everything about it. I first heard it on the radio program, “Coast to Coast”, Art Bell’s midnight show about all thing mysterious. I’ve listened to his talk program for many years, and it is everything I love to think about…UFOs, ghosts, conspiracy, and all things spooky/paranormal. The song was written for the show. From what I could find out, this song was debuted in 2009, on the Goldenlane Records label.

Enjoy!

Love Is In Da Blog – Opera – Day 25

For today’s prompt suggestion, Bee has asked for opera songs. Thanks, Bee!

I don’t know much about operas or the songs they sing. I have heard a song or two from Charlotte Church, and Jackie Evancho which are really pretty, and amazing, but I’ve never seen an opera, and don’t go out of my way to listen to any. Sorry.

That’s why I’m going a bit off the rails today with this one. It is the theme song from a soap opera, so at least the word opera is there!

One of my favorite soap operas was Another World, created by Irma Phillips. It has since ended, but I watched it from the very first show to the end (1964 to 1999). Most soap operas are about the love stories between the many characters, along with all the drama and family dynamics.

“Another World”, by Crystal Gayle and Gary Morris, was released from their album, “What If We Fall In Love”, in 1987. It was written by John Leffler and Ralph Shucket, and is on the Warner Bros. label.

I’ve always seen myself as a reckless gambler
Risking all that I had
Whenever I could

But then one day it happened
You appeared like from a dream
And we moved in synch like dancing
With our hearts in harmony

You are my way
To another world
Your are the one who makes me fly so high
You are the rain when my spirits run dry
You give my life
A hope that’s real

‘Cause when I’m with you
You take me away
To another world

All my life I’ve been called a hopeless romantic
Waiting for my prince
To sweep me away
But when I found you I felt different
Than I ever felt before
Suddenly I was taking no chances
By walking through your door

To another world
Your are the one who makes me fly so high
You are the rain when my spirits run dry
You give my life
A hope that’s real

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Feb. 3/18

This is where we write whatever we think, as it comes to mind, with no editing, except for spelling (maybe). Sometimes I follow the rules, and then sometimes I just have to look something up. I don’t think Linda minds. She’s nice like that, and even gives a prompt word to get us started. 🙂

It’s fun, so why not join in? See above link for details. Thanks, Linda!

So, every time I tried typing ‘words’ it came out as ‘worlds’. Is that a sign that I should write something about the world, or other worlds? Maybe it’s just I can’t type right. I do seem to transpose letters all the time, whether typing the words, or reading them. Then I have to go back to do/read it right. I’m even worse with numbers. I don’t really understand much math, and whenever I look at numbers, both my mind freezes up, or the numbers jump around, so I can barely tell what they are. I mess up the check book a lot.

Well, enough about that. In other words, I’ve said all I want to about my discalculia (math blindness, I think it is).

Moving on. In other words, writing about the typing of world instead of words, got me thinking about one of my favorite soap operas, “Another World”. It’s been cancelled now for quite a few years, but I watched that one from the first airing, to the end. I was so upset when it went off the air. Here’s the intro song for the show.

“Another World”, by Crystal Gayle and Gary Morris, was chosen as the theme song for the soap opera, “Another World”. It was released in 1987, and ran through 1996. It was written by John Lefler and Ralph Schucket, and was on the Warner Bros. label.

After a successful month of posting music videos for the April A to Z Challenge, I will continue with this weekly music challenge.

I was a bit lost this morning, as to finding a song to post about. Was I burnt out from a month of music…or were you? Well, no, there’s always more great songs to find. 🙂

The song was written for the show, and later the show was renamed, “Midnight in the Desert”. From what I could find out, this song was debuted in 2009, on the Goldenlane Records label.

Enjoy!
