Prize Winner? – Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Color

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “color/colour.” Use it as a noun, a verb, or pick a color and write about it–use it any way you like. Have fun!

I love to color in coloring books, and I always have. I remember when I was a kid, hoping the dime store/variety store we shopped at would have a prize for being the 100th customer of the day. I of course would be the winner when I came through the door. haha … anyway the prize would be I could have any whole aisle of the store for free! I always chose the coloring books and crayons. I wanted them all.

I ‘helped’ when my girls were coloring, because I wanted to color, too. Now there are loads of coloring books for grown ups to enjoy, and yes, I have whole drawers full of them.

It’s fun to find out there are many blog challenges about colors, and I do some of these, too. Linda’s Escapist Coloring Club is one, and Jennifer’s Color Your World is another. Some others have dedicated days or weeks for photos of one color or another.

I like to use all color markers, pencils, crayons, and pens for coloring the pages. There are so many ways colors affect our lives. From the things we see every day, to beautiful scenery here on earth and up in the sky.

Hope your weekend is full of fun and color! ❤

I’ve done lots of coloring this past few weeks & months. I’ve used markers on all of these. The one with the butterfly is in a book of stained glass looking pages. Here are four from recently. You can enlarge these by clicking the photo. 🙂

  • Butterfly (or moth) & big yellow moon
  • Pink elephants in swirls of colors
  • Hippie girl with sunglasses and a tropical drink
  • Two girls rocking out with guitars (music notes & stars in background)

I figured I’d better get my September coloring pages posted before the month comes to an end!

Hard to believe it’s already autumn/fall.

I’ve actually been doing a lot of coloring this month. Surprise – surprise!

I decided I’d painted enough on my coffee mug, so went ahead and finished up with the baking/setting of the colors.

This was another mug I painted. It was a plain white one. I painted the words Peace on one side, and Love on the other in blue. Then added some blue and yellow dots around the rim & bottom. This was fun to do.

Now, in the coloring books, here’s a couple of pages.

The book is called, “Happy and Energized Coloring. The pages I did were of a couple of birds and a bird house and some flowers all done in pink and blue. The second one was a multi-colored peacock in a big swirl type image. I think I used markers and pencils on this one.

***

And … I found this cute drawing/coloring book at a garage sale. It’s probably for kids, but I like them anyway. There are lots of pages to color, and also add different things to. This one we were supposed to draw a person on top of the cheerleader pyramid. heh heh about my drawing. 🙂

The book is called, “Best Friends’ Doodles – Delightful doodles to do”. I colored with markers of aqua pants and pink tops, and added a stick on star to each girls t-shirt. There are six girls in the pyramid.

***

I’ve done lots more, and almost filled up another whole coloring book, but will show next time.

Hope you’ve been having some fun coloring days, too. 🙂

The Escapist Coloring Club Prompt – February 1, 2019

Looks like I missed the whole month of January to post my coloring pages, but I’ve done a few things. I finished that one on the end that I’d started, and did the other three. The pink & blue one I went back to using all markers on it.

You can click on the photos to enlarge and see them better.

I never did get going on the ceramic coloring mugs. They are still waiting….maybe this month I’ll get started on them.

The Escapist Coloring Club Prompt – December 1, 2018

I’m barely making it in under the wire for my entry in the Escapist Coloring Club for this month’s page. Mostly I’ve just done these from a coloring book of interesting designs. I finished the first two, and am still working on the third one. The last one is a small coloring page from the back of one of our calendars.

I got the ceramic mug to color from my daughter on my birthday. I started out to color it, but the markers were not working and were mostly dried up. I tried reviving them, but it didn’t work either. So, the other day I went to a craft store, looking for more of the food safe markers to use, but couldn’t find any. I did find this other mug to color, and it has little paint pots of color to use. I’ll use this on both mugs. Now, just taking time to actually paint them! After the color is on, you bake the cups in the oven for a little while, which sets the color, and then you can use them to drink from.

This will be my project for next month!

Time for the August update on the Escapist Coloring Club, hosted by Linda G. Hill.

Thanks, Linda, for giving us a place to showcase our pages!

I haven’t done much coloring lately, and haven’t finished a couple I showed earlier in June or July. But, I did do this one the past few days, plus a little doodle in a small spiral book, just for fun.

On these, I am still using the twist up colored pencils, and I still like them a lot. I’d been using the Crayola brand, and I also got some cheaper brand, and you know what? The cheaper ones color good, but they break off too easy, or won’t twist up like they should. I’ll probably just stick to the ‘good’ brand from now on.

And, this one I started a couple of nights ago from another dollar store book.

It’s July already! Hard to believe how fast the months are flying by, isn’t it!

I didn’t post a mid-month June coloring page, because we were on vacation, but I did color some pages. My daughter, grand-son, and I spent time at the kitchen table just coloring away while we talked and had snacks. It is so fun!

Anyway…I asked my grandson if I could post his original drawings and coloring on my blog, and he said sure I could. He’s 8 years old, and a good artist, I think, already. This time he was drawing characters from the video game, “Plants vs Zombies”. Here they are… 🙂

***

For myself, I finished one I’d started last time…

I made some progress on this red, white, and blue one…

…and, did a couple of other ones…

***

So, that’s my coloring fun through the month of June. It’s still early in July, and I’m sure I’ll have some more pages done before the month is done.

Here’s what I’ve been working on coloring lately. I’m still using the new colored pencils I got, the Twistables from Crayola. They work really well.

I have a lot of all kinds of coloring books, all with pretty designs, but sometimes I get tired of all the tiny details on the pages. That’s why for a break from those, I have some regular kid’s coloring books. The pictures are larger, so they are easier to color in. The last photo is one of these. I have some more with even larger pictures, and I can add my own swirlies and dots and things, to make it interesting. 🙂

Until next time, happy coloring!

The Escapist Coloring Club Prompt – May 1, 2018

Thanks for hosting this fun Escapist Coloring Club, Linda! Why not join in! It’s creative and relaxing. Click the above link to find out how. 🙂

I know it is a little past mid-month May, but here’s what I’ve been coloring so far this month.

I did finish the vegetable basket, using the old pencils, I think. I may have done the basket in the new pencils I got. I had a great suggestion from Janet, about these Crayola Twistables pencils. They work so much better than those I had been using. Thanks so much, Janet! You can find her fun blog and coloring pages here: https://scr4pl80.wordpress.com/2018/05/02/making-memories-in-may-2018-2/

So, I’ve been more in the mood to color the pages since I have these pencils, as they show up much better.

I finished the feathers last night, and the last photo is what I’ll be coloring next.

Escapist Coloring Club – May

The Escapist Coloring Club Prompt – May 1, 2018

Wow! Here it is the month of May, already!

It’s time for another entry in the Escapist Coloring Club, hosted by Linda G. Hill. Find out how to join in, by clicking the link above. It’s fun!

Thanks, Linda, for thinking of this fun idea for us to do. 🙂

***

So, I did finish this lantern that I’d started, and showed you recently. I did it in all markers.

***

Then, I started working on this one of vegetables in a basket. It has more details to fill in, but looked pretty interesting. I’m using only colored pencils on this one. To me, it’s harder to use the pencils. I keep expecting the colors to be as bright as the markers, and they are just not. Maybe it’s the kind of pencils I have, or something, but I have to press down so hard to get them to show up, and almost have torn the paper!

I’m trying to do some shading on the vegetables, too. Still got some areas to finish, yet. So far I’ve been 2 days (well, nights) on this page. I only do the coloring for about an hour, because my hand is hurting by then. I still do enjoy the coloring and the books.

***

Here’s the books I used:

The first one my daughter got me for Christmas, and the second one I’m pretty sure I got at the dollar store.
