Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – Fashion CFFC

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Fashion

***

Today Cee wants us to consider fashion.

It’s fun to look back at how fashions come and go over the years.

The first photos are from a coloring book I have that show fashions from the 1950s. There were lots of prints in fabrics, and women wore dresses a lot of the time. These shown have fitted tops and mid-calf poofy skirts.

A lot of the time people would sew their own clothes from paper patterns. I know I did. I took home making in school, where we learned to use a sewing machine, and work from these kind of patterns.

This is a photo of one of my patterns to make aprons.

A visit to an antique store had lots of old fashioned fashion clothes. I don’t know from what era these were from, but the clothes were very fancy looking. The red dress was so pretty, and the mannequin was wearing a red hat, too. Hats were very popular back then. There were many racks of fancy dresses to look at or buy.

So, I color pages in my books pretty much every evening, and have done a lot of pages. I just need to pick one to show you.

First, though, is the page I’d started last time, and is now finished. I have a bit a trouble finding the same color marker that I used the time before. You can tell on some of these where I didn’t quite pick the right one.

Next is one I’ve started, but it’s not quite finished yet, and the book.

And this one, I finished, using both markers and colored pencils. I like the one lady’s hair that I colored pink and blue and the other is orange and red. I know these pages say they are fashions from the 1950s, but I wanted her to have a more funky look, as I see lots of people these days that have all different colors in their hair. I think I didn’t do the outlining their faces very good. I was probably getting tired, as it is late in the evening when I’m doing these. Oh well… it’s fun, anyway. 🙂

The Escapist Coloring Club Prompt – January 1, 2018

***

I don’t mind saying, I love to color! I do have lots of those coloring books, and spend at least an hour every evening coloring in the designs. After a day of staring at the computer screen, and typing, I’m tired and need to relax a bit. I enjoy seeing the colors come together in a nice color combination, and most times try not to use more than three, possibly four colors on one page. I pretty much use markers, as they are bright. I use colored pencils once in awhile, but seem to have to re-sharpen them way too much. I don’t really worry about getting everything perfect, and that’s not really the point of it. To me, it’s relaxing just to be in the moment and wind down from the day.

Here’s the one I’ve been working on recently. It’s not finished, but I do like the color combinations of it. As you can see, there’s some coloring outside the lines, and a few skips where the marker didn’t quite cover the area, but that’s okay. Nobody’s judging, I’m not entering the picture in any talent contest, and I’m having fun. 🙂
