Sabi Saturday # 15 – Pitchers Collection

Sabi Saturday, Week 15

***

Sabi Saturday is open for a whole week where we share:

  • the vintage/antique items handed down or we “rescue” from garage sales and thrift stores so they don’t end up in a trash bin
  • items we’ve upcycled instead of throwing them away
  • items we’ve repaired in a transformative way to make them more beautiful or cooler than before
  • process or tutorials on how we upcycled or repaired something to make something new, more beautiful, or cooler
  • the main idea is showing how we treasure or reuse or creatively transform things that have some history to them, may be a bit worn but nevertheless are still useful/beautiful and often have character.

If you’d like to join in and showcase some of your antique, or rescued, re-purposed items, just click the above link. 🙂

These little pitchers belonged to my granny.

The first two are for holding cream, and the last little one is just for admiring.

My granny had a big collection of all kinds of pitchers. I guess she just liked them, and we always knew what to get her for birthdays and Christmas…another pitcher. I don’t know what happened to them all, except these ones that I have. Every time I use them I think of her.

I do use the cream pitchers, but just for water. I keep them by the kitchen sink and use them to water my plants that are on the window sill.

The first one is probably from a dishware set. It is white, with dark green around the rim, and a white flower with green leaves on the side. There are no markings at all on the bottom, and it is pretty old…as it is stained and the glass is crazed.

The second one is yellow, and is also old, discolored, and crazed. No markings on this one, either.

The third small decorative pitcher is white, with a raised sculpted pink rose with green leaves. There is a bit of gold paint on the rim and the handle. There was a little tag on the side of it that says ‘floral satin – by en sco’. On the bottom is a price tag of ten cents. This one has been broken a little – I need to glue it. It is about 3 inches tall, and is shaped like an old fashioned pitcher used with a washbowl.

Just a few of the many crosses I collect. I find them at yard sales, and hang them on the wall in front of my computer. I like how many different designs there are.

For Nano Poblano and National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo)

Today is the final day of these blog challenges. It’s been fun! At times the month seemed to go by pretty fast, and at other times, not so much. I’d say the last half, finding things to showcase on these posts, was a bit hard to do. At the first of the month, I was all…sure, I know I have 30 things of mine that I could write about. 🙂 Then, trying to find something that might be even a little bit interesting, well… I was scrambling, looking at things, rejecting them, sounding it out in my head of how it might sound if I wrote it…hahaha… anyway, I did manage.

I sure hope you got a laugh at some of them. I sure appreciate every one of you who came to visit, like, or comment on the daily posts. I do still have the list of participants, so hopefully I’ll have a chance to visit your blogs soon.

Thank you so much, Ra, for hosting Nano Poblano! Thanks to all the Cheer Peppers! Let’s do it again next year! 🙂

Now, for the last one…

“Please Introduce Yourself”

Yo, Hi, Hello! Nice to see you! We are the nice lady’s refrigerator magnets. Well, this photo only shows a very few of us, as we are a large, ever evolving community. Some of us are taking a break from decorating the fridge, you see.

The nice lady is always adding more, bringing more interesting characters home to be friends with us. We look forward to meeting the newcomers. When she goes on a trip somewhere, she always bring back a new friend, who can tell us all about where they came from. Some of us come from far away, and some from close by, like yard sales. If every one of us were to be here at the same time, we’d probably cover the whole door and side! 🙂

“Please Introduce Yourself”

Greetings! We are a few of the nice lady’s collection of salt and pepper shakers. There are quite a few more, but they were shy…didn’t want their photo taken. She had us packed away in the shed for awhile, but came to rescue us this afternoon. She gave us all a nice sudsy bath, and dried us off, so we’d look nice.

Hello…I’m the Kangaroo mom, and baby joey kangaroo. See the little one in my pouch? I’m pretty old, as in vintage or antique. Not that it bothers me at all! I was entered one time in the local fair, under antiques and relics, and guess what…I won a ribbon, just for sitting there looking pretty!

Ahem…excuse me Ms. Kangaroo…I was speaking… As I was saying, we come from all over the place, wherever the nice lady finds us. Mostly yard sales, thrift stores, and some of us were sent to her by friends, because they know she collects them. She even has a book that tells all about the collecting of S&Ps (salt & peppers). It was sent to her by a friend, also.

Now that we are out of storage, I hope the nice lady will set us on a shelf somewhere in the house, so she can admire us again. Maybe in the hutch her uncle built. She cleared out a lot of books, so now has the space. 🙂
