SpongeBob SquarePants says…

Well, it’s no secret that the best thing about a secret is secretly telling someone your secret, thereby adding another secret to their secret collection of secrets, secretly.”

My grand-kids have always loved the cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants. I’ve seen a few of them, and they are all pretty funny.

Helen has given us the prompt word, Car/Cars for SLS! Thanks, Helen!

There are so many songs about cars, it was hard to choose one. I remember this one from way back when, and since it is funny, I remembered it. I’d thought about it for the other prompt not long ago, of drive/driving, but went with a different one. so…now is the time for this one!

The song starts of really slow, then gets faster and faster as the cars in the story go faster. There’s a funny twist at the end, too!

“Beep Beep – The Little Nash Rambler”, by the Playmates, was a single from their album, “At Play with the Playmates”. It was released in 1958, on the Roulette label. It was written by Carl Cichetti and Donald Claps.

[Very Slow]
While riding in my Cadillac
What to my surprise
A little Nash Rambler was following me –
About one third my size
The guy must’ve wanted to pass me up
As he kept on tooting his horn. Beep! Beep!
I’ll show him that a Cadillac
Is not a car to scorn
Beep beep. Beep! Beep! Beep beep. Beep! Beep!
His horn went beep beep beep. Beep! Beep!
[Slow]
I pushed my foot down to the floor
To give the guy the shake
But the little Nash Rambler stayed right behind;
He still had on his brake
He must have thought his car had more guts
As he kept on tooting his horn. Beep! Beep!
I’ll show him that a Cadillac
Is not a car to scorn
Beep beep. Beep! Beep! Beep beep. Beep! Beep!
His horn went beep beep beep. Beep! Beep!
[Normal]
My car went into passing gear
And we took off with gust
Soon we were doing ninety –
Must’ve left him in the dust
When I peeked in the mirror of my car
I couldn’t believe my eyes:
The little Nash Rambler was right behind –
I think that guy could fly
Beep beep. Beep! Beep! Beep beep. Beep! Beep!
His horn went beep beep beep
[Faster]
Now we’re doing a hundred and ten –
This certainly was a race
For a Rambler to pass a Caddy
Would be a big disgrace
The guy must’ve wanted to pass me up
As he kept on tooting his horn
I’ll show him that a Cadillac
Is not a car to scorn
Beep beep. Beep! Beep! Beep beep. Beep! Beep!
His horn went beep beep beep
[Fastest]
Now we’re doing a hundred and twenty –
As fast as I could go
The Rambler pulled along side of me
As if we were going slow
The fellow rolled down his window
And yelled for me to hear
“Hey, Buddy, how can I get this car
Out of second gear!”

For me, this was a hard one to find songs that had smile in the title or lyrics. Then, I found this one. I think the My Little Ponies are so cute, and yay! they had a smile song. Hope you enjoy the video and song, and that it brings a smile to you, too. 🙂

“Smile Song”, by Pinkie Pie, is actually sung by Shannon Chan-Kent, and Andrea Libman. It was written by Amy Keating Rogers. It can be found on the album, “Songs of Friendship & Magic”.
