Card Saver – Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Card

Card Saver – Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Card

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Oct. 6/18

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “card.” Use it any way you like. Enjoy!

Our intrepid hostess, Linda, has given us the prompt word ‘card’ for SOCS. Thanks, Linda!

This looks like a pretty easy subject to write about, doesn’t it? There are all kinds of cards and meanings of the word, and other words that has the letters c a r d  in some form of a different word.

That’s where it gets hard. There are too many choices, and ways to go with this. I’m no good at making a decision about anything, so ever since I saw the prompt, I’ve been thinking card – card – card – card what?

I’ve played some card games like spades, bridge, hearts, poker, crazy eights, rummy, and lots of others. Those are fun, but you need someone else playing along, too.

Then, I’ve got cards in my bill fold for all kinds of things…medical, credit, gift cards, licenses, I D cards, and who knows what else.

I used to make my own greeting cards to send to people, like for birthdays and holidays. I’d paint a picture on the front of some card stock paper, then write something on the inside. Those were fun to do.

One of the best (and some people who won’t be named) think it was the worst things I ever got was this… I found and bought 12 huge scrapbooks at a yard sale…one dollar each…they were filled with cards. Mostly they were Christmas cards sent to the scrap book maker, over the years, starting from the 1940s on up until the 90s, I think. So – many – cards! There were also photos, and newsletters. I still have them all, and look at them from time to time.

It is interesting to see how the cards changed from the early days, on up to more modern times. The older ones were very cute, with cute poems or greetings, and nice little pictures. The more modern ones, were pretty, but just more generic in style…no personality to them at all.

Here’s a photo of just one…the outside cover of the scrap book shows some cut outs from cards, and then a couple of pages that were inside.

I’ve saved all of the cards I’ve received all my life, and have put them in scrap books, too. There are cards of mine that my mom saved from when I was a baby, cards for every holiday, invitation cards, and birthday, too. All of them are in my many scrap books. I still save all the cards I get.

I like sending cards to people, too. Do you send many cards? Do you save all you get, or throw them out?

Thanks for visiting! Peace ☮️
