Book Spine Poetry is finding some book titles, putting them in some kind of order, and see if it makes sense! 🙂  Here’s a couple I did today.

For Nano Poblano and National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo)

“Please Introduce Yourself”

Good afternoon. I am the nice lady’s hutch. I think that is what I am supposed to be, but she uses my shelves for other things besides dishes. I have lots of books, papers, knick-knacks, candles, pens, and pencils that she stores here with me. The nice lady is a bit disorganized, as you can tell, but I don’t mind. She is always adding new and interesting things for me to hold for her.

I began by being created by the nice lady’s uncle. He made me with his own hands in his workshop, way back in the early 1950’s or maybe even earlier. The nice lady has always known of me, even when a little child. I was given to her grandmother to be a hutch for her dishes. The drawers held silverware, the shelves held plates, cups, saucers, and the bottom, enclosed shelf held pots and pans. I was in grandma’s house for many years. When she moved to a smaller place, I was gifted to the nice lady’s sister, and her daughter. They enjoyed placing pretty things on my shelves. Later, they asked if the nice lady would like to have me come live with her. She said yes, and I’ve been here now, for quite a few years. I like it here just fine. The cats used to jump all the way up to the top, just to have some fun. It was funny, and tickled when they scrabbled up my front. Then they couldn’t get down, and the nice lady had to rescue them. Silly cats! 🙂

Today’s prompt word is Collection. To find out more about this month long challenge, click below:

Just Jot It January 17th – Collection

Collection is a nice way to say I have a lot of ‘stuff’. I tend to accumulate things, more than outright collecting them. I don’t go out of my way to find/buy certain items just for adding to an ever growing group of things.

I mostly have books. So many books. There are two 5-shelf shelves, and a 2-shelf shelf, and a huge antique hutch, with the top and bottom parts, that are all filled, several books deep. Then there’s the stacks of books, that are getting taller, too. Some of these have been read, some have not. Twice a year the library has a huge book sale, which I cannot pass up, and the regular visits to the  book stores in town. My kindle is hoarding even more! What can I say? I love to read.

As for other ‘collections’, I have a lot of jewelry, none expensive, because I like wearing a lot of it. I’ll have several necklaces and bracelets on at the same time. Earrings, too, as I have more than one piercing. So, there’s that.

I have a collection of crosses, of metal, wood, and glass, up above my desk here. I find these at yard sales.

Somehow I got into collecting novelty salt and pepper shakers. I was given a set many years ago, and it’s been added to over the years. I’ve never bought any, myself, they are all given by friends, and family. I have entered some of my antique S&Ps in the local fair, under Relics and Antiques, and won ribbons on them. Most of the ones I have are packed away, as I have no good shelf or display case to put them right now.

I know there are other ‘accumulations’ I have, including lots of journaling notebooks…lots! I get some as gifts, and some I buy, especially if it has a cool cover. 🙂

So, hope you’ve enjoyed hearing about some of the things I have!

This is a picture of the S&P identification and value guide I have, and a couple of S&Ps that happen to be out at the moment!

For the 28th day of the NaBloPoMo challenge, I thought I’d show you what I’m reading at the present time, what I plan on reading next, and two of my all time favorite books. And…bookmarks! Do you like to use a bookmark? I didn’t used to, but now they have such interesting ones, I like using and collecting them. I also make some of my own.

The first two pictured books, are those I’m currently reading. I usually have more than one started at the same time, and leave them in different rooms. These I’m about half-way through them, and they are good. They are by a couple of my favorite authors. I’ve read the whole series of the Shopaholic books, up to this one, which is the newest. And the memoirs of Jen Lancaster are ones I’ve followed for a long time.

IMG_1780The next photo shows the two books I’m planning on reading next. Janet Evanovich writes the Stephanie Plum series, and I’ve read them all up to this one (I’m a little behind, as there are three more I don’t have yet). The next one I just got for my birthday, recently…I’d not heard of it before, but it looks good.IMG_1781

The last photo shows the two books that are my all time favorite. I’ve read them every year, for many years, and I write my fan fiction story as a continuation of the Lost Souls book, by Poppy Z. Brite.

The Survival of Jan Little, by John Man, is a true story, and is amazing.

This photo is of some of my many bookmarks 🙂
