Flower of the Day – Blue Rose

***

This is a beautiful blue rose under a glass dome.

The label says:

Vermeille blossoms are produced by using a gentle processing of real flowers. Early in the morning when the flowers open in natural perfection, selected quality roses are cut from the plant. After using a sophisticated procedure the flowers become long-lasting beauty that look as fresh and natural as the moment it was cut in our fields.

And from an article I was reading about blue roses:

A blue rose is a flower of the genus Rosa (family Rosaceae) that presents blue-to-violet pigmentation instead of the more common red, white, or yellow. Blue roses are often used to symbolise secret or unattainable love[1]. However, because of genetic limitations, they do not exist in nature. In 2004, researchers used genetic modification to create roses that contain the blue pigment delphinidin.

So-called “blue roses” have been bred by conventional hybridization methods, but the results, such as “Blue Moon”, are more accurately described as lilac in color.

July Squares # 25 – Blue

Hooked on Blue

***

This is a month of blue! It’s a fun challenge created by Becky of “The Life of B”, and each day we show something blue. The only rule beside blue, is that the photo MUST be SQUARE!

As an added bonus, I’ve found songs with blue in the title or lyrics, or at least something to do with the photo. 🙂

Thanks, Becky!

I just wanted to see what flower I posted last year on this day. It was this one.

I still don’t know what kind it is.

Flower of the Day – Tricky Filter

***

It’s funny how changing the filter on the photo makes the flowers change color.

The first photo is the original where the flowers all look shades of purple.

The second photo shows with the vivid filter, that the flowers on top are still purple, but the lower ones are deep blue.

The last photo is just a close up of the blue colored flowers. I don’t know what kind they are.

Flower of the Day – Rock Cress

We went to a place that has lots of flowers for sale, yesterday. These were called Rock Cress – Audrey ‘Blue Shades’. (I remembered to take a picture of the label). They look purple to me, though, instead of blue.
