Ode to My Heating Pad

***

***

Here’s how the weekend went around here:

  • We’ve been without a TV signal for a week now. It went out a week ago Monday! They keep saying they will fix it, but so far they haven’t. It needs a new box, and they brought one out on Friday, but it quit working, too, after about an hour. Then they said they’d be here on Saturday, but they never showed up. We’ve been waiting and waiting!
  • Without a TV to watch, I just did my blogging. That’s what I do anyway all day, so not much different for me. Just doing my blogging, and reading other blogs.  I found this hilarious song about blogging. Watch it and you’ll see! 🙂
  • We did go out for a little while on Sunday for lunch, and then to several stores. I kept looking for a heating pad, because mine went out, and I need the heat for my sore back. I wanted a certain kind, and it was hard to find one. Finally did get one at the last place we looked, Ahhh good.

Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Silent/Silence

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS June 1/19

***

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “silent/silence.” Use one or both in your post. Have fun!

***

Today’s SOCS prompt words are silent/silence. Thanks, Linda!

***

It’s hardly ever completely silent around here. The TV is on from the time we get up, until I turn it off at bed time. We watch some things, but mostly it is just background noise. Once in awhile I do turn off the sound for a little bit.

I like hearing the birds tweeting, the wind rustling the tree leaves, and sometimes a dog barking. But, if I hear a dog barking (the neighbor has two of them – a big one and a little one), so if I hear them barking, I know they are barking at our outside cats. I have to go check, because sometimes the dogs get out and like to aggravate the cats. I have to yell at the dog to go back home.

A couple of times this week the big dog got in our back yard through a gap in the fence where the board slat had come loose. We try to patch it up on our side, but really the fence isn’t ours, it’s the neighbor’s, and they do nothing about the rotten wood that is falling apart.

So yeah, the dogs get out and when they get too close to the cats, the cats take a good old fashioned swipe with their claws right on the nose of the dog. The dog goes yelping and whining back home.  Not much silence then!

But what I started out wanting to write about is this… blogging silence.

Do you ever get the feeling that some bloggers just don’t like you and your posts? All you ever get is silence from them. There’s been a few over the years like that. I go to their blogs, leaving likes and some comments, and I get nothing but silence. I see they leave likes and comments all over the place, but not to me, ever.

I hope I’m not guilty of this, as I do try to get back to everyone, even it it takes awhile. Sorry if I’ve missed you, it’s not intentional.

That’s fine…not everyone has to like everything someone does, and I’m not here just to collect likes, but it still makes me wonder why. Finally, you just give up trying with them, even though others rave about what a nice person they are, and are one of the most popular blogger out there. Hmmm…silence…I don’t know.

Just Jot It January & Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Art

The Friday Reminder for #SoCS & #JusJoJan 2019 Daily Prompt – Jan. 12th

***

Our challenge hostess, Linda G. Hill, says…

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “art.” Talk about something that’s hanging on your wall. Add a picture, if you’d like. If you have no art on your walls, talk about something in a museum. Have fun!

Thanks, Linda!

***

This SOCS prompt should be fun. I’m looking forward to see what everyone else posts today. The link above will take you to the main page, where you can join in, and also find other entries.

***

I’ve got quite a few things hanging on the walls around here, but not as much as I used to have.

Years ago we planned on painting the walls, so I took everything down…and the walls never did get painted, so I’ve occasionally hung some more stuff up. Here’s just a few.

I got this painting at a yard sale. I like it because it’s the little Dia de Los Muertos skeletons dancing. I really love anything to do with the Mexican celebration of Day of the Dead, and little skeletons doing ordinary things are to honor those who have passed on.

In the bottom left corner is a small greeting card. My aunt gave me this for Halloween one year, when I was just a little kid. I’ve kept it all these years because if you know me, I love ghosts and Halloween.

In the bottom right corner is a blank card I found somewhere. It is a tiger and a kitten. A tiger is my spirit animal, and of course I love all kittens & cats.

So, yeah, you could say this all means a lot to me.

***

This needlepoint of a Siamese cat, I found a yard sale, too. Of course a cat…and it reminds me of our outside cat, Big Man, blue eyes and all.

***

This tiger painting I’ve had a long time. My mother painted it for me. She did oil paintings all the time, and there were so many different subjects she painted. I still have a lot of them, but others were sold. This one is special.

***

Here’s a couple of paintings I’ve done to showcase my blogging…teleportingweena & Ghost. They were done in acrylic, and aren’t framed or anything, but the orange one is hanging on the wall, and the blue ones is propped up beneath it. I see them every day. The orange one is made to look like my other blog on blogger. That’s the way the background theme looks.  The Ghost one has some shimmery shiny kind of paint, so that in different lights, the word appears and disappears. Pretty cool!

***

There are other paintings I’ve done here on the walls, and my collection of crosses are covering the wall above my computer desk. Nothing at all is fancy or expensive, but I like them all.

“Write Your Story” – 51 Weeks/51 Songs From the Past

51 Weeks: 51 Songs From The Past: Week 44: Genesis – Follow You, Follow Me

***

This week Hugh has asked if we know any songs that might bring to mind something about blogging. Thanks, Hugh!

I had no idea about this, so I just looked up songs about writing, and found this one. I’d never heard it before, but I like it a lot. I know she isn’t really singing about blogging, but it could work, I think, for the theme this week. We all are typing/writing about all kinds of things…our life, our likes/loves, our past, present, and future, and all together it seems to add up to a story about ourselves. Just think of all you know about the many bloggers that we interact with, and how some we’ve gotten to know, even virtually.

All us bloggers are writers of some sort or another, and we all start out the same…a blank screen, or paper page.

We all write our stories.

“Write Your Story”, by Francesca Battistelli, was released from her album, “If We’re Honest”, in 2014. It was written by Francesca Battistelli, David Arthur Garcia, and Ben Glover, and is on the Word, and Fervent labels.

SPIDER DANCE – Just Jot It January 2017

Just Jot It January 2017 jjj-2017

This is a blog challenge where we are to write/post something for each day in January. It’s fun! Join in by clicking the link. 🙂

#JusJoJan Daily Prompt – Jan. 1st/17

***

SPIDER DANCE

Weave your web of love around me

Seduce me with your words, sublime

Silken strands to hold and bind me

Capture me…I’ll call you mine…

Spin your web in sticky spirals

I’ll never want to flee,

Lure me with your lyrics, love…

Come closer…come get me.

Dance with me, my Spider…dance…

Be wanton with your wildness,

Pierce me with your poisonous lance,

Our rebel love is reckless.

***

I wrote this poem back in 2015. I like anything to do with spiders…the way they look, all so different, that they are kind of scary, and that they are beneficial by catching annoying insects. If I see one I try to take a photo of it. I don’t run screaming from the room, and most times I leave them where they are. I do catch spiders sometimes, if they are in the house, releasing it outside.

Here’s a song I like, about a woman and her spider dance. 🙂

The song is called “Lola Montez” by Volbeat. It was based on a true story, of the woman, and her Spider Dance. I just call it the Spider Dance song, because of the lyrics.

SILLY THOUGHTS ABOUT DIVERSE THINGS

Standard

SILLY THOUGHTS ABOUT DIVERSE THINGS

Ok, so I spend most mornings going through my email list of new posts to read from all the blogs I follow. Well, those that have new stuff to read since I was on here last night. I like to see all the ‘diverse’ (hey, that’s the daily post prompt word…maybe I could use it) …well, all the different ways people blog. It suits my ADHD perfectly, the way I can just jump around from one topic to another, as quick as I want to, as quick as my mind changes and gets distracted every few seconds.

So, I’m reading along, and in my head I’m forming my own thoughts, and running commentary about what they are writing about. Then, I think I might comment on their post, because what I have to say about it is so good, everyone will applaud my observations and come see what I’ve posted lately…hahaha…not!! Anyway, I open the little reply/comment box, type my profound comment, which sometimes is really long, or sometimes just a few words, but I stop to read back and realize…uh…that’s too long, or dumb, or has nothing to do with the subject, because I’ve gone off on a tangent of my own. So, I delete it all, and just hit the like button. I think the person doesn’t really need to hear what I think, or they already have a bunch of comments, and I have nothing new to add, really. Well, that’s how it goes. But, hey…this is supposed to be a ‘social’ kind of thing, right? People love comments, don’t they? I’ll then sometimes make a small comment, just because I liked the writer’s subject, but more than ‘liked’ it…well, I don’t know…I’m loosing what I was thinking now.

Oh…diverse thoughts…

I’ve already forgotten any diverse thoughts I had.

Never mind…

Carry on with what you were doing! 🙂

JUST JOT IT JANUARY – # 5 – LEARNING NEW THINGS

JUST JOT IT JANUARY – # 5 – LEARNING NEW THINGS untitled

For the 5th day of Prompts for Just Jot It January, the year of 2016 was suggested. Here’s a few things I’ve learned toward the end of 2015, and these first few days of 2016. I’m sure these are not new to a lot of you, but I’d never tried them before. Sometimes, I’m afraid to try new things on the computer, in case I mess it all up, but so far these have worked ok. It takes me some bit of time to remember what to do, though, because it’s not automatic for me yet. 🙂

I learned …

  1. What a pingback is and how to do one
  2. To back up the content on my blog (save)
  3. To put a music video on my blog
  4. Copy and Paste
  5. To be something new learned

You can find out how much fun this challenge is by clicking below…

SHARE YOUR WORLD … WEEK # 50sywbanner

Here are the questions and answers posed by Cee, for Share your World. If you’d like to take part, you can find out how here … Always fun and interesting 🙂 Thank you, Cee!

Q1 – Favorite thing to photograph? Write? or Cook?

I love taking pictures of all kinds of things. I’m certainly not a professional, and have only my phone, or a simple digital camera, so there are tons that don’t turn out very good. But, I keep on taking them. I like to take pictures of my kids, and grand-kids, my cats, the sky (clouds, sunrises, sunsets), birds, and anything that strikes me as funny, weird, or odd.

For writing, my favorite is…everything…:)

For cooking, whatever is fast and easy, or baking desserts.

Q2 – Did you like swinging as a child? Do you still get excited when you see a swing?

I loved swinging when I was a kid. The higher the better. Now, not really. It sounds nice, but it makes me dizzy. I would love to have a big, old-fashioned porch where I could have a porch swing, though 🙂

Q3 – What has surprised you about blogging?

That I actually have a couple of blogs. I didn’t even know what one was, not too long ago. That I can post something here, and people actually read what I write! Amazing! The best would have to be the readers, the visitors, the likers, and the commenters! From your busy day, you choose to come here. Thank you all so much. I want to read and comment on each and every one of your posts, and it really bothers me that there is only so much time in a day to visit with you. I know how you all work hard at posting to your blogs, and I so appreciate each of you 🙂

Q4 – List at least 5 favorite desserts.

This is hard…I love all desserts. Let’s see, top 5… anything chocolate, any kind of cookie, pie, cake, and cheesecake 🙂 oh, and candy…yes!

And, at this moment, I’m having my afternoon coffee/with French Vanilla Cream, and some Christmas cookies that our neighbor baked and sent over. 🙂
