Monthly Shape Adventure – Owl Wonder

And Now The End Is Here… Maybe?

***

Do you remember the Monthly Shape Adventure challenge that I took part in? It was so much fun to find shapes, each month a different one.

The challenge has ended, but Veronica has been so sweet to give me the award for participating…and…she gifted me with her wonderful book, “Owl’s Shape Adventure”!

This is a very colorful book, with lots of shapes, numbers, and colors to find within the pages, along with a cute story of the Owl’s day of adventure. I’m sure any child learning about shapes would love to have this book, also.

I’m planning on giving this book to my grand-daughter, who is 4 years old, and loves books. She’s also a great fan of owls, and always has been.

Thank you so much, Veronica, for hosting the challenge, and the gift of your book. I look forward to following Owl’s adventures on your blog.

You can find Veronica’s blog at the above link. It’s a fun place to visit!

This is day 2 of the challenge. There will a new question and my answer every day of September. Find out how to join in by clicking the above link!

Thanks, Suzanne, for hosting the challenge!

Question:

2. Were either of your parents raised in your hometown? If not, how did they end up there?

My answer:

My mother was born and raised in our hometown, or rather, they lived just outside the city, on a farm.

My Dad and his family moved around a lot, but every little town was fairly close by to the city of Lubbock. Eventually, they settled here in town.

Happy September!

Here is a brand new challenge, brought to you by Suzanne, at McClendonvilla. It will be a question and answer challenge, lasting for the 30 days of September. Each day will be a new question. If you’d like to join in, just click the above link for the details!

Question One:

Were you raised in the town in which you were born? Where were you raised?

***I was born and raised in the same town, Lubbock TX. I lived in the same house up until I got married, when the mister and I moved away. He was in the Army, so we moved around a lot, all over the world, but since he retired, we are right back living in our home town.

Lubbock is known for being the home town of the legendary musician, Buddy Holly. There is a statue, and a museum dedicated to him.

Our college football team is the Texas Tech Red Raiders. They play their first game of the season this Saturday. I’m not much of a football fan, but I always want them to win.

There are a lot of things to see and do here, if you have a mind to.

I know there are more questions to answer, so that’s all for this one. 🙂

51 Weeks: 51 Songs From The Past: Week 1: ABBA – Happy New Year

From Hugh, at “Hugh’s Views and News”, comes this new challenge to participate in. It sounds fun, because it’s about songs/music from the past. It can be any song you want. 🙂 Find out more about this musical challenge by clicking the link above.

The first song for the challenge, I have chosen, “People Are Strange”, by The Doors. It was written by Jim Morrison and Robby Krieger, and released in September of 1967. It appeared on the album, “Strange Days”, and was classified as Psychedelic Rock.

I love all the Door’s songs, and have listened to them off and on for years. This is one of my favorites, because I agree…people are strange. I love to just sit and watch people go by, as I imagine what the stories of their lives is like. I wonder what story they imagine of us, as we pass by?

GAZING BALL – 3 LINE TALES – WEEK 19

Standard

GAZING BALL

“Mommy, where did my little brother, and Skippy go?”

“Why, they went up to the sky when they died; you can see them any time you want.”

They waited until it grew dark, then gazed up at the clear, blue ball, and smiled at their loved one and his dog.

***

My thoughts…

What do you see when you gaze into the ball? To me, it looks like on the right side, a large dog. On the left, smaller, a boy in a helmet. 🙂 … Here’s what I was thinking… since Earthly graveyards are filling up and expanses of land are becoming scarce, it was decided to create these space bubble/balls to put the human remains in. They could show holograms/visions of the dearly departed, so we could remember them, just by looking up to the night sky. 🙂

Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Week 18 – Sweet

~

My daughter and grandson made this gingerbread house from scratch this past Christmas! Looks good and sweet!

The cakes, below, are in the grocery store bakery. I have to look at the cakes every time I go by. We’ve been known to buy a birthday cake to eat, even when it’s no one’s birthday…and have it decorated! haha 🙂

Yes, I love sweets!

COLOR YOUR WORLD # 3 – “APRICOT”

Standard

COLOR YOUR WORLD # 3 – “APRICOT”apricot-tree-1423855161vhN

Day 3 of the Color Your World Challenge is for the color Apricot.

Find out more about this challenge here … Thanks Jennifer for hosting this fun challenge! 🙂

~

At first all I could think of about the color apricot, was the fruit. I do like eating them, but what more can you say? They are little, soft, round, a bit fuzzy, and full of fiber and sweetness. We used to have an apricot tree in the back yard of a house we rented. It produced tons of the fruit, but I don’t remember eating even one…I don’t know why. We had some sort of an apple tree too, which we didn’t eat any fruit from, but the dogs sure did. They’d wait for those apples to fall to the ground, and fight over who got to it first! 🙂

Anyway, I finally looked through my pictures, to see what was apricot colored, or close enough. Here’s a couple I found. The flowers were in my aquarium. I don’t have fish (I’m scared of them), so I use it for other things, like plants. I was given this beautiful flowering plant for some occasion. I always take a picture of any flowers I receive, because they don’t last long, and a picture reminds me of the day. The other picture is of the sky…well, of course it is. I take lots of sky and cloud pictures, and this one looked apricot colored to me. DSC00317

Maybe I’ll pay more attention to things colored apricot, from now own! Will you?
