A couple of tiny tigers from my Beanie Baby Collection. The black & white one’s tag says his name is Blizzard. The gray & white one has lost his tag, so don’t know his name. He also had to have a bath today. For some reason he had what looked like mud all over him. 🙂

Lizards – NanoPoblano – Day 21

NanoPoblano – Day 21

Today we were at the Dairy Queen restaurant at lunch time. I noticed the sign out front, and from where I was sitting I could only see part of it. It was advertising the Blizzard, which is a very thick ice cream treat.

Well, the part I could see only said ‘Lizzard’, as the ‘B’ was blocked from my view. It struck me funny, saying to get an original ‘lizzard’ meal.

So, I got to thinking…how do you spell ‘lizard’? Is it with one letter z or two? It turns out it is with only one letter z. Why? It seems as though they short-changed the little lizards of the world, by only granting them one letter z. Lots of other words have two, such as the Blizzard treat, a real weather blizzard, and even a chicken has two in their gizzards.

I say we should give the lizards another letter z.

And, as Little Orphan Annie said, “Leapin’ Lizards!”

There were a couple of writing challenges for the month of December that were suggested to me by a blogging friend. Her blog is called “Zombie Flamingoes”, and can be found here: https://zombieflamingoes.com/2016/12/01/christmas-writing-prompt-1-last-christmas/

They looked fun and interesting to do, so I’ll follow the writing prompts, and hope you enjoy reading.

Last Christmas, 2015, we spent an early Christmas with our daughter, son-in-law, and grand-daughter, here in town. It was a fun evening, with food, and gift exchange. We didn’t watch any TV on this night, or play any games. We gave our grand-daughter a princess dress, like the one from the movie “Frozen”. She loved it, and had to put it on right away. Then she sang us the ‘let it go’ song:)

A few days later, we flew out of state to spend Christmas with our other daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. We had a fun few days with them. Our visits never seem to last long enough, though. While there, we went to the mall, and out to eat at a fabulous smokey wing place, walked around in the downtown area to have an ice cream at Sparky’s. Christmas morning we had our gift exchange. We all received new P.J.s pants. Mine was leopard print! We spent time during the visit, by playing scrabble, watching kid movies, eating snacks, and coloring. We had a good time.

Now, this is the bad part. We had to cut our visit short by a couple of days. Back home a blizzard was forecasted, so we needed to get home. We didn’t know how bad it would be, our neighbor was caring for our cats, and the house needed looking after in the bad weather. Sure enough, we did get stuck in the Dallas/Ft.Worth airport. All planes were grounded because of the blizzard and it would be at least a couple of days before we could fly out of there. We decided to just rent a car and drive the rest of the way home. It was horrible! Creeping along the whiteout highways, at night, was scary. We finally did make it home, though. We won’t forget this Christmas!

Weekly Weather: Snow

Here are some photos of the snow we had in December, 2015. It was called a blizzard. We were traveling home after Christmas, and got stuck at the DFW airport, as all planes were grounded for awhile. We ended up renting a car to drive back home…in the blizzard! It was night time, and scary, slick roads! We made it home, though. The snow drifts seemed huge to us, as we almost never get that much snow. 🙂

JUST JOT IT JANUARY # 3 – FROZEN

JUST JOT IT JANUARY # 3 – FROZENuntitled

Today’s Just Jot It January prompt is the word Frozen.

But first…For some reason I didn’t think we were to do one on Saturday! Now, I find out that we were, and the prompt was ‘pause/paws’… I guess I took it literally, and paused for real 😉 …anyway, without further ado, here’s the one for today! Enjoy!

FROZEN

First of all, I keep wanting to mention this, to see if anyone else sees what I see when I visit blogs. The Snowflakes that are falling across many of your screens. They are really cool, and hypnotizing. I could watch them for hours, just getting lost. The thing is, I use my PC for everything, and when I move the mouse different directions, the snowflakes on the screen move either in that direction, or the opposite direction. It’s fun! Does anyone else notice this happening, and is it supposed to do that?

Now, I have to mention the movie “Frozen”. It’s a great movie, if you like animation. My 2 year old grand-daughter loves it. She sings the songs, talks about Elsa and Anna and that snowman (forgot his name…Olaf? or is that the reindeer?) We got her a play costume dress-up dress for Christmas, that was like one of the girls in the movie wore. She didn’t want to ever take it off, she felt so pretty in it 🙂

So, the day after Christmas, we were travelling back home from MO. We had to cut our visit short, in order to beat a blizzard that was due to happen in our hometown in TX. Well, we almost made it. Flights were cancelled, the airline put us in a limo for an almost 2 hour drive, through flooding rains, to St. Louis to catch another one, then at DFW everything was cancelled, they said for days. So…we rented a car to drive home, and wouldn’t you know it, there was thunder, lightning, and pouring rain…with tornado warnings all around us. We were lucky we didn’t get blown away. Then, finally on the highway, the blizzard hit, big time. Slippery roads, very little visibility, and strong winds. We had to drive only 30 mph for a long, long time. What a mess! Thankful we made it home. Oh, our suitcases were lost somewhere along the way, too. They did finally find them, and delivered them to our house…yesterday evening…a full week later!

Here are a couple of pictures. One of our back yard, and one out the front door (we had to shovel our way out it was so deep). If you’re from the north, and are used to this frozen weather, go ahead and laugh. We’ve never seen so much snow, and the whole city shut down for days!IMG_1935-2IMG_1941-2

Frozen…nope, don’t like winter or cold weather. Give me hot, hundred degree weather any time! 🙂
