Flower of the Day – Bonus Bugs

***

We have lots of pretty yellow dandelions in the yard right now, so I was out taking pictures. When I enlarged one I saw the bonus bugs – ants on the flower. The first photo shows several. 🙂

I finally did a short search for a picture of these, and found it is called Field Bindweed, and also known as Creeping Jenny, and Morning Glory.  🙂

I posted this a couple of years ago, and found out the name of this flower is Creeping Jenny, or Field Bindweed. The ants sure like it. 🙂

What is this?

Take a guess, then I’ll reveal what it is farther below.

Still kind of hard to tell, but there are hundreds of ants all over the shoe insert! They were left outside to dry after getting wet, and for some reason the ants swarmed all over them.

Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Walking Paths and Trails

***

This time for Cee’s B & W photo challenge, we are looking at paths and trails. I’m not much of an outdoorsy kind of person, so don’t see many of these kinds of things. Here’s a couple that might work, though they are a bit different.

  • Here are great big cement blocks that were placed in our garden area for us to walk on in between the plants.
  • An ant trail, which is on the sidewalk is a trail, isn’t it? You can’t really see their trail, as it’s invisible to us, but they go by scent, I think. I always see them mostly going in a straight line, and talking/touching their feelers with each other, to communicate something. They’re probably letting other ants know where some food crumbs are.

The ant trail was full of ants coming and going. This is in B & W, and then below, I left it in a little bit of color, and enlarged it so you can actually see a few ants! 🙂
