Dear Diary,

5/20/61 – J (cousin) and I played. We went to the air show (put on by the Air Force). When we came home we played. Grand ma came over and N (aunt) came over. We asked if we could spend the night over there. The men went fishing. N spent the night over Grand ma’s. We did too. I slept on the coucth (couch)

5/21/61 – I played all day. We went to the store. When we came back we played. Then we went home and played. then we went to see how much money it would cost to go to Idho (Idaho). When we came home Grand-pa came over and ate super with us.

5/22/61 – I went to school. When I came home I played.

5/23/61 – I went to school. when I came home I played. Then we went to the store. Then went to Grand-mas. Aunt D came over. When we came home I played.

5/24/61 – I went to school. When I came home I played. At night Grand pa came over. B, H, V, D, and J (aunt, uncle & cousins) came over.We played a long time.

5/25/61 – I went to school. J (cousin) came over to play. When she went home we went to the golf range.

5/26/61 – I went to school and I played.

5/27/61 – I played all day. C and E (great aunt and uncle) came over Grand mas.

5/28/61 – I played. We went to Church – When we got home I played with J (aunt)

5/29/61 – I went to school. When I came home I played. Grand pa came over.

5/30/61 – I played with J (aunt) She and V (cousin) spent the night.

5/31/61 – I went to  school. It was the last day. When I came home we went to the store. Then to the dime store.

Dear Diary,

5/13/61 – We played all day. When I came home we went to the dime store. I bought P (sister) a birthday present. At night M & O & S (parent’s friends and son) came over. We went to Underwoods (a favorite BBQ restaurant) and ate supper. Then we went to the park and rode the rides (amusement park). Then we saw the ballgame . When we went home we watched the fims (films – home movies).

5/14/61 – It was P’s (sister) birthday. We went to church. After we got home J (cousin) and I played. Grampa made some stilts for us. J broke all of them except mine and D’s (cousin). P got a music box, tow (two) pair of hair clamps, 3 coloring books, a box of colors, a tiger, some Crazy Putty, some perfume and podeur (powder), forr (four) cars, purse, shorts, ring, braclet (bracelet) and necklace, paper.

It was Mother’s day. She got a pillow, a hot pan holder, a tea strainer, a basket, a ? (can’t make out the last word).

5/15/61 – I went to the dinest (dentist). After dinner I went to school. When I came home I played.

5/16/61 -I went to school. B (aunt) had her wisdom teeth pulled. When I came home I played.

5/17/61 – I went to school. When I came home I played. Then we went to Grandmas. P (sister) rode the bike. Then we went home.

5/18/61 – I went to school. When I came home I played outside. At night it rained.

5/19/61 – I went to school. After school Mother went to docter (doctor) to see about her ears. Then we went to the dime store. Then we went to B’s (aunt) to see if J (cousin) could spend the night. She could. We went home and played. At night we looked for frogs. We stayed up untill (until) 1:00 oclock.

Dear Diary,

4/23/61 – I went to church. When we came home I played. After dinner we went to Buffalo lake. I caught some snails. When I came home I played. Then I went to bed.

4/24/61 – I went to school. I made a string picture. When I came home J (cousin) came home with me. We played. When she went home P (sister) and I played. The I read to P. Then I went to bed.

4/25/61 – I went to school. When I came home I played. Then I made a cake and biskets (biscuits). Then I read. Then I went to bed.

4/26/61 – I went to school. When I came home we went to B’s (aunt). When I came home I played. Then we went to Granny’s. When I came home I went to bed.

4/27/61 – I went to school When I came home, I played. At night everybody came over. It was Daddy’s birthday. He got two pair of pants, Two shirts, handkerchiefs, and a hat. We played all night. When they went home I went to bed.

4/28/61 – I went to school. When I came home I played with P (sister). At night N (aunt) came over. We saw fims (films – home movies). N got a permenint (hair permanent) When she went home I asked mama If P could sleep with me. Mama said she could. Then we went to bed.

4/29/61 – I played all day. J (cousin) came over to play. When she went home I planted my garden. Then we went to town. We went to the pet store. Then we went to get daddy some golf clubs. Then we went and got P (sister) some training wheels. Then went over to grand-ma’s. P rode the bike. When we came home we watched tv. Then went to bed.

4/30/61 – I played all day. We went to church. When we came home Granny was over. After dinner we played. Then went to Grand-ma’s. J (cousin) and I played. Then we went to N’s (aunt). Then we went up the trails. Then we went home. Then we went to the store. When we came home we painted my placks (plaster of Paris molded plaques). Then we went to bed.

Dear Diary,

4/13/61 – I went to school. I asked the teacher what they did yesterday. They went walking. They went to C’s (a classmate) house. They saw alltheir dogs and chickens. Then they went over to E’s (classmate) house. C rode his pony. When I came home I played. I watched tv. Then I went to bed.

4/14/61 – I went to school. When I came home we went to B’s (my aunt’s sister). When we came back J (cousin) came over. She spent the night. Then we played. A sandstorm. We went over to N’s (aunt) When we came home we went to bed.

4/15/61 – I did not go to school. J and I played all day. When she went home we went to Granny’s house. We ate supper over there. When we went home we went to bed.

4/16/61 – I did not go to school. I played with J (cousin). We went over to N’s (aunt). We went riding. When I came home I played. Then I watched tv. Then I went to bed.

4/17/61 – I went to school. After school I went to play with B (classmate). When I came home I played. Then I watched tv and went to bed.

4/18/61 – I went to school. I rode my bicycle to school. When I came home I played outside. Then I watched tv. Then I went to bed.

4/19/61 – I went to school. At music I learned a new song. When I went home I got my report card. When I got home I played all day. Then I went to bed.

4/20/61 – I went to school. When I got home I played. Then I went to J’s (cousin) house. When I came home I went to the dime store. When I came home we went to Grand pas. P (sister) tried to ride a little bicycle. When I came home we showed a fim. (home movie). Then I went to bed.

4/21/ 61 – I went to school. When I came home I played. Then we went to Grand mas. When I came home I played. When I came in it was dark. Then I went to bed.

4/22/61 – I did not go to school. We went to the library. Then I went to town. I got some pants, and a hat.When I came home I played. J (cousin) and I went to N’s (aunt). Then went to B’s (aunt). We played all day. At night we rode bicycle’s . When I got home I went to bed.

Dear Diary,

4/2/61 – I did not go to school. At moring (morning) we went to Church. When We went home B (aunt) came over. J (cousin) and I played all day. We ate dinner. Then we hunted eggs. Then we played. Then ate supper. Then we went to bed. We rode our by bicycle. N (aunt) has a bicycle.

4/3/61 – I got 50 cents from my tooth. J (cousin) and I played all day. B (aunt) came over and brough (brought) us four gold fish. Then I played. I went over to Grand mas. When I went home I went with Grand ma to the play grownd (play ground – the amusement park where she worked). When I came home I played. Then I went to bed.

4/4/61 – I went to school. I had a hedace (headache). When I came home I played. Then I went to bed.

4/5/61 – I went to school. when I came home I played. Then I watched tv. Then I went to bed.

4/6/61 – I went to school. When I came home I played. Then I went in the house. Grand ma, and grand pa ate supper with us. When they went home I went to bed.

4/7/61 – I went to school. When I came home I played. Then I watched tv. Then I went to bed. I had the radio in my room.

4/8/61 – I played all day. N (aunt) came over. We clored (colored). I got a new color book. Then I watched tv. I had the raido (radio) in my room. Then I went to bed.

4/9/61 – I played. We went to church. When I came back I went over to B’s (aunt). We ate dinner over there. Then I went home. Then I went to bed.

4/10/61 – I went to school. When I came home I played. J (cousin) came over. When I came in I watched tv. Then I played. Then I went to bed. We made some Stochk krisppies (? scotch krispies)

4/11/61 – I went to school. When I came home I played. Then I watched tv. M and O (friends of my parents) came over. Then I went to bed.

4/12/61 – I did not go to school. I had the cramp. I stayed in bed all day. After dinner we went to the store. When I came home I played. I felt better. I played out side. Then I watched tv. Then I went to bed.

Dear Diary,

3/23/61 – I went to school. We made clay. When I came home V (cousin) was over. We went to the dime store. When I got home I mad (e) some clay. Then I played. Then I watched tv. Then I went to bed.

3/24/61 – I went to school. Some mothers came to visit. When I went home I played. Then I painted. Then I watched tv. then I went to bed.

3/25/61 – I did not go to school. We was going to the library. J (cousin) came over. She went to thelibrary with us. When I got home J came over. We went to her house. It was V’s (cousin) birthday. She got two dollars, dresses, whistle, umbrella, sun glasses, make up, lepard (leopard). Then we went home and went to bed.

3/26/61 – I did not go to school. I played outside. Granny came over. She stayed to eat dinner. When we took her home we looked in her garage. I found books. I got some funny books, and what-nots. When we came home we got a bunch of books. When I got home I watched tv. Then I went to bed.

3/27/61 – I went to school. I painted a tree. I got paint all over my dress. I had a headack (headache). When I got home I went over to grand mas house. She came over and I went with her. I played all day. When I came home I got my lessons. Then I watched tv. Then I went to bed.

3/28/61 – I went to school. I painted a picture. When I got home I played. Then I got my byc bicycle tire pumped up. Then I rode it. A cold front came. I went in the house. I played. Then I went to bed.

3/29/61 – I went to school. I made a picture of a chicken. When I went home I played. Grand ma came over. She gave me a package. It was clothes. Ther (e) were sweaters, skirts, blouses, dresses, shorts, and a bathing suit. I put them on. Then I played. Then I went to bed.

3/30/61 – I went to school. I played. After lunch a little while we had ice-cream. When I wnt home I played. Then I read. I went in the bed with mother. Then I went to bed. It was the last day of school. It is Easter holidays.

3/31/61 – I did not go to school. I played. Then I went over to J’s (cousin) house. They were molding. They were molding horses, lambs, fish, fruit, and roosters. When I went home I played. Then I watched tv. Then I went to bed.

4/1/61 – I was April fools day. I did not go to school. I played all day. B (aunt) came over. N (aunt) and V (cousin) did to. P (sister) and I colored Easter Eggs. When they went home we played. Then I went over to N’s (aunt). When I went home I went to bed.

3/13/61 – I went to school. J’s (cousin) dog Princess followed us. When I came home J came over. When she went home Grandpa came over. he brought the dog house. When he went home I made a hat. Then I went to bed.

3/14/61 – I went to school. Princess followed us. When I came home I made another hat. It was better than the first one. Then I played. Then I went to bed.

3/15/61 – I went to school. When I got home J came over. We played a long time. When she went home I played. Then N (aunt) came over to get her hair rolled. Then M & O (parent’s friends) came over. We showed fims (home movie films). Then I went to bed.

3/16/61 – I went to school. We had an Easter Parade. We had a corl (?) reading to. When I went home J came home with me. When she went home we went to town with N. When We went home I went to bed.

3/17/61 – I went to school. I drew a picture of a dog. When I got home I played. Then I went to bed. It is St. Patricats (St. Patrick’s) day. I wore a green brouse (blouse) and skirt. …..then in the diary I drew in pencil two cloverleafs and wrote… a semblem of colver (an emblem of clover)

3/18/61 – I did not go to school We went to the stamp center. we did not buy anything. Granny went with us. we went to the dime sstore. I bought paper, past (paste). When I got home I played. I got my Easter shoes. Then we watched tv. Then we went to bed.

3/19/61 – I played all day. Daddy went over to Mrs. S’s (neighbor). I went with him. We saw their puppies. L & J (the neighbor’s daughters) came over. L and I cooked dinner. When they went home I played. Then I painted. Then we went to bed.

3/20/61 – I went to school. When I came home S (a friend) came over. She spent the night. We played all day. Then we went to bed.

3/21/61 – I went to school. S and I took our lunch together. When I got home I went to the landrey (laundry). When I got home I played. Then I watched tv. Then I went to bed.

3/22/61 – I went to school. When I got home J came over. When she went home I made a 3 D picture. Then we played. I watched tv. then I went to bed.

Dear Diary,

3/3/61 – I did not got to school. I played with J (cousin). Then I played out side. When I came home I watched tv. Then I went to bed.

3/4/61 – I played. I watched tv at morning then I went outside. Then I went over to granny’s and played with S (cousin) and B (cousin). Then we ate supper. We played outside. When we went home I went to bed.

3/5/61 – I played. It was windy. I went over to J’s (cousin) and played. Then I went home. I played some more. We went over to J’s house. It was her brithday (birthday). She got hair clamps, an Ester hat and purce (purse), a dollar in change, two skirts, a dress. We ate cake. Then we went home. Then I went to bed.  and a slip.

3/6/61 – I went to school. we brock (broke) the penyahta (pinata). we ate the candy. When I came home I played with clay. Then I watched tv. Then I went to bed. I had a headace (headache). It was when the Alamo fell.

3/7/61 – I went to school. I played. When I came home I went over to J’s (cousin) house. When I came Home I played. then I watched tv some. Daddy made some popcorn. Then I went to bed.

3/8/61 – I went to school. When I came home I played. J (cousin) came over to play. Then I watched tv. Then I went to bed. M and O (parent’s friends) came over.

3/9/61 – I went to school. I made a puppet. When I came home Granny was over. P (sister) and I played. Then We went to the library. When I came home I went to bed.

3/10/61 – I went to school. I finished my puppet. When I came home I played. Then I went utside. Then I came in and went to bed. I went over to J’s (cousin) house and played

3/11/61 – I played. P (sister) was sick. Then We went to the Stamp Center. When We came home I went over to J’s house. I spent the niht. We played all day.

3/12/61 – I played with J. I stayed until 3:00 oclock. When I came home I played. Then we went over to Grandma’s house. It was N’s (aunt) birthday. When we came home I went to bed.

Dear Diary,

2/21/61 – I did not got to school today because it was closed. I played all day. I played in the snow. We made some snow cream (snow ice-cream). The evergreen tree was bent over because the snow was on it. When I came in I played. Then I went to bed.

2/22/61 – I went to school. When I came home I got to walk in the snow. When I got home I played. Then I watched tv and ate supper. Then I watched tv and played. Then I went to bed. Today was George Washington’s birthday.

2/23/61 – I went to school and hade (had) fun. When I came home I played. Then we went outside and played. Then I came in and played. Then I went to bed.

2/24/61 – I went to school. When I came home I played. Then I watched tv. Then I went to bed.

2/25/61 – I did not go to school. We went over to B’s (aunt) house. J (cousin) got to spend the night. We went over to N’s (another aunt) and played. When I got home I played and went to bed. J and I stayed up talking till 1:00 or 2:00 o’clock.

2/26/61 – I did not got to school. J was over. We went over to grand-mas. It was Grand-pas birthday. I played with the dogs. Then I hurt my finger. Then I went home. I played. Then I went to bed. We went over to grannys and I took a nap over there.

2/27/61 – I went to school. At school I painted an ink picture. When I came home I played. Then I went to bed.

2/28/61 – I went to school. When I came home I went to get P (sister) picture. Then we went to a pet shop. We saw fish, birds, sea horses, ginny (Guinea) pigs, alligaters (alligators), and a deer head. When I got home I played. Then I went to bed.

3/1/61 – I went to school. When I came home J (cousin) came over. We played. When she went home I watched tv. Then I played. Then I went to bed.

3/2/61 – I went to school. When I got there we had a pig. We will put candy in it. Then we will break it and candy will fall out.  (must have been a Pinata) When I got home I played a long time. Then I watched tv. Then P (sister) pulled her first tooth. Then I went to bed. Daddy put a muffler on the car.

Dear Diary,

1/15/61 – This morning we went to grannys house. we stayed till about 5:30. we ate dinner over there. after dinner we talked. Daddy and the men played 42. (Dominoes). P (sister) and I went utside and played with C (a neighbor girl). I found 5 Christmas trees in the ally (alley). We set them up and played under them. In the ally, I foand (found) a live plant. When we were going home we hade (had) an Ice crem (cream) cone and then we went home and I watched 3 shows . after that I ate supper, then I took a bath and went to bed.

1/16/61 – I went to school. after I went to school I came home and went to the store and to the cleaners and to the dime store. then we went home and I went over to play with J (a neighbor girl)

1/17/61 – I went to school and had fun. I went over to B’s (aunt) to play. when I went home I went to Piggley Wiggly (grocery store) and got a book of Wild Animals. I will get one every week. they will be different ones.

1/18/61 – I went to school and played with the fifth grade at play pedired (period). We had a vistor (visitor) his was Mr. Night. after school I went to have a shot. when I came home after a while we went over to granny’s house. when we came home I took a bath and went to bed.

1/19/61 – I went to school and had fun. it was B’s (uncle) birthday and at night we went over to N’s (aunt). Mother made a cake. B (aunt) was there and H (uncle), Grandma, Grand Pa, Mother, father, P (sister) and I was there. we all had fun. then we went home and went to bed.

1/20/61 – I went to school and watched tv all day to see John Kennedy. (maybe this was his inauguration to be President?) then I came home and had fun playing. we did not have any home work to do.

1/21/61 – I had fun playing. I turned flips on the wall. After dinner N (aunt) and Grand-ma came over. At night we went over to Ns and stayed a long time then we went home and went to bed.
