Welcome to another fun month of the A to Z Blog Challenge!

My theme this year is – Coloring & Quotes. Each day will be a page from a coloring book that represents the letter of the day, and a quote that begins with the letter of the day, too. Hope you enjoy.  🙂

The Escapist Coloring Club Prompt – January 1, 2020

***

I haven’t done a lot of coloring the past month or so, but I did do this one.

I received as a Christmas gift from my daughter, this new book. It has lots of interesting pages to color in.

On this one I used only markers, because I got a new set. I needed some that had a small or fine tip, because regular ones won’t do on these tiny designs.

The only bad thing is that they soak through to the other side, which ruins the picture on the other side. I’ve been trying to figure out how to fix the pages so I can put a blotter page in between.

Did you know that on most paper like this, and others, you can separate them? It takes a bit of careful doing, but it does work. I learned to do this while making scrapbooks and wanted both sides of an item to show.

This is a rhinoceros that I used several colors on. Green, aqua, orange and yellow. I’ve left some parts white.

Animal of the Day – Camels

Animal of the Day – Camels

#AOTD – SEPTEMBER 24, 2019

Here’s a new challenge all about animals! It’s brought to you by Betty Louise at the above link. Here’s what she says:

We have FOTD, WWE, BOTD,  we seem to have forgotten our friends, animals. So I decided to start one. You can use any animal domestic or wild.

My animal of the day is the camel.

Both photos here have a camel or two. We only see them if there is a traveling wildlife show. They are huge!

“Tracks,” by Robyn Davidson, is the author’s memoir of her journey across Australia, with her four camels, and her dog. Traveling 1,700 miles during the six months of her journey, she deals with harsh weather, unpredictable wildlife, and her quirky camels. More than just a travelogue, she learns that she is capable of overcoming all the obstacles piled against her. She writes with humor and passion for what is important in her life story.

I’ve read this one several times, and was so glad I found a copy of the book to buy, because it is unforgettable.

This photo is of a tiny, red plastic camel. Looks like it was just a trinket, or something to add to a necklace maybe, as it has a circular part on the top. I found it in a box of old keepsakes of my Granny’s.

Animal of the Day – Prairie Dog

Animal of the Day – Prairie Dog

#AOTD – Antelope – SEPTEMBER 22, 2019

***

Today, my animal of the day is the Prairie Dog.

The photos show several different ones of these cute little brown critters. Some are just sitting up, some are holding something to eat in their tiny paws, and one is right by the entrance to his burrow.

We see these little animals all the time around here. They make their burrows and underground tunnels in any vacant lot or field by the side of the roads.

They make a shrill chirping noise when alarmed, or it’s a signal to other prairie dogs.

We’ve had them in our back yard at times, too.

The prairie dog is sort of our city’s mascot, I think. For as long as I can remember there has been a dedicated area (many acres) for them to live. It’s called Prairie Dog Town, and people can come see them, take pictures, and toss them goodies to eat. They will come right up to you.

For the national ground hog day, we don’t have ground hogs here, but we have the prairie dogs that are supposed to predict the length of winter. His name is Prairie Dog Pete. 🙂

I wrote a whole post a couple of years ago (Prairie Dog Corner), about one that got in our back yard, and my daughter’s dog took him for an excursion around the yard. He didn’t even hurt him! It’s a funny story! 🙂

Animal of the Day – Hamster

Animal of the Day – Hamster

#AOTD – MOUNTIAN SHEEP  – SEPTEMBER 21, 2019

***

I think this was a little white hamster. He has some black around his eyes, and tiny pink paws and ears, and is eating pellets from a silver bowl. We saw these at the pet store.

There was a cute sign by them with a cartoon hamster, and was saying, “My Cheeks are as big as my Heart”.
